Elantris is on the list of possible nominations for the Quill awards having me some of their requirements, there are something like 70 possible candidates in Sci-fi fantasy.
Also there's a best new author that can only be nominated by publishers, wonder if we can get EUOL on that list.

He already is in the debut author category. It contains what looks like a somewhat enlarged version of the blurb, plus a extra few sentences on the bottom (fleet fun book, new shining star among the fantasy authors, the usual).

Yeah, Tor mentioned this to me when I was visiting. It will only be a big deal if I get on the short list, which will be revealed sometime in early August.

It's cool that you are listed as the second book on the first page. I didn't realize at first that there were four more pages of book nominations in Debut Author. How lucky--you couldn't ask for better placement! :)

Wow I missed the debut author lists, who would have thunk there were that many that fit their bill.

Well EUOL didn't make the final cut in either of his catagories

Curses! Defeated by Orson Scott Card again!

I'm very disappointed in all of you. I'm sure it must be someone on TWG's fault.

Too bad, although... the Quills, from what my book pub class has discussed, aren't all that super. I mean, it seems as if they're mainly a marketing vehicle for PW. Now, I know the general rule about publicity is that any publicity is good publicity, especially for authors because the writing biz is so difficult.
Yet the Quills present a superficial front--a "Hollywoodization" of literary awards. For the most part, they come off as a high school popularity contest instead of a means for serious literary recognition. All the same, I agree that it would've been awesome for EUOL to get this award.
