Description: Voted Best non-review article at TWG for 2006
Every year we got a lot of great content created by our forum and friends and so we want to start showing our thanks by offering a unique award, meaning there's only one of them, for the best in show here at TWG. First off we're doing best non-review article, which can be anything that's not a review (simple eh?), meaning no score given on the page, how this contest works is described below:
1)During the week of February 27st-March 15th PM Spriggan with your favorite non-review articles (max 3 please) nominations, these articles must have a publish year of 2006 also don't nominate yourself or we'll toss your submissions, also don't bother trying to create a new account to nominate yourself, we have that level restriction for a reason and can easily determine who's cheating.
3) Spriggan will then take the top 5 articles and create a poll allowing everyone to vote on their favorites (again you'll need to be level 2 to vote so don't bother trying to cheat) between March 15th-27 .
4) On March 27 the winner will be awarded their prize.
Good Luck!

I created a script to only show the non-reviews frm 2006 so any from this list is valid.

Ooooh, I like this idea. It's hard to choose, though! A Geek Girl classic? Skar's RIP David Gemmel? Or SE's Thank Heaven for Little Girls?
How do I choose?
-
Since you can submit three, and you just mentioned three, i'm not sure what the problem is.
-
Uh. Perhaps I should actually READ the rules. Duh.
-
Heh, ya that would help. I let people nominate up to three because there are so many good articles it's hard to choose just one and that there will then be a good chance that something they like will make it to the final five.
Also on the 15th when nominating for this category is over I'll start nonmiations for best review.
-
Only 3 days left for nominations people.
If everyone who told me that this is a good idea actually participated then I'd actually have enough nominations but I've only got a total of 4 from two people. It's not hard to PM me with what you like, I'm surprised buy once again the total indifference people that visit this site have for this site, I guess I should know by know that most people don't care about anything other them PMing friends or EUOL.
-
I completely forgot about it--kept putting it off till I had more time. I've sent in my nominations finally.
-
Thanks Stacer.
Just a quick rule update, for the final vote I'm limiting a writer to 2 articles only so more people have a chance to be in (right now if I did the final vote list there would only be two people on it). This doesn't affect nominations though, you can spend all your nominations on one person if you want.
I figure this is the fairest way to do it.
-
That's a good plan. I couldn't decide, so I think I skewed it (and I'm kind of under a deadline + moving thing this week), so I still didn't spend the time I wanted to on it, but I did the best I could.
-
Submitted. I suppose I've been a bit of a dapper around here. I understand that a lot of the more normal folks have kind of lessened there time around here and... ok, this is going into a rant. I'll be quiet.
-
The nomination period ends tomorrow at 7pm so if you haven't done so yet please nomiate your favorite articles from the past year.
-
Voting is live for the next 10 days, the poll will close automatically and the results won't be displayed until then.
Good luck to everyone.
-
Hey cool! I got nominated! That's awesome!
-
You were the most nominated person but they were all for different articles so I had to decide on which one went up for the final vote, which was done by looking at the total view count among other things.
-
Awesome. I've decided that one of my goals for the summer is to resurrect the Geek Girl. I'll have a ton more time then, so I should be able to after this semester is over.
-
Congrats to Ms Fish! She won with quite a wide margin too. I'm going to make up the award trophy as soon as I get the chance, also don't forget to nominate articles for the best review of 2006 at http://www.timewastersguide.com/forum/index.php?topic=5222.0.

Of course! Everyone loves Geek Girl. :D
