Okay, time to get this thread back on topic.

Things are looking up.  I visited around the department today, spreading good cheer and influencing people as best I could.

The person you want to send emails to is Louise Plummer.

[email protected]

She is on our side.  I tell you to email her because she's the one calling the meeting next week to discuss the class, and she wants your emails as firepower and evidence.  So, here's what I want you to do:

If you are a former student at BYU, write her an email telling her how the SF program (particularly this writing class) helped you.  Try to keep your emails positive, but give her some testimonials she could show the rest of the department to get the to believe how valuable this class was to us.

If you know anyone who was planning to take the class, please get in touch with them and have them email Louise!  These emails will be even more important, since they are indicative of the interest in the class.  Have them write to her and tell her how much they were looking forward to the class, and why they wanted to take it!

The rest of you (Entropy, TFO, Ninja Monkeys,) I'd ask that you would kindly refrain from sending Louise random emails.  Email her only if you've taken the class, or want to.

Thanks!

Here's to hoping things go well! And that someday, somewhere, I'll run along and take that course there just for the pleasure of it.

Precisely why would I deign to email a teacher on the other side of a very silly and distant continent?
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Please notice my name wasn't on the list of people who aren't to send random e-mails to her.

So I'm free to cause as much randomness as I want.

(Which of course is none, and the whole point of why my name wasn't on the list, but still.)

I sent an email saying I'd like to take the course.

Umm, apparently I found this topic too late to do anything about it. :(

So, is there any update worth posting?

So?  What happened at the meeting yesterday?

We managed to talk them into offering the class, as long as they can have me and Sally team teach it.

So, the class is back.  Tell everyone!

She did.  She offered to come back for this class, so it wouldn't be canceled.
