The only play lists I have are:

All my J-pop into one (about 15 cds or so)
Gorrillaz (3 cds)
Foo Fighters (all the cds)
ect

I usealy just group by artist, I use to make ones that mixed songs like traditional playlists but I never really enjoyed them as much as pure artist lists.

I find I don't have the patience for one-group playlists much anymore.

my actual favorite playlist is to throw all my songs on one list and hit shuffle. It usually takes Winamp a few minutes to compile this. My list here at work is over 1600 songs. The one at home over 3500.

SO I won't post it
however, when I get home I'll post the last three mix CDs I made, which kind of count.

my zen micro has that as a built in feature (which I'm sure iPods do too), it also has cool buit in playlists like most listen to, least listen to, and album of the day.  There as a few others, I think, but have only used those three.

My Favorite Playlist

Xenogears Broken Mirror OCR Remix (djpretzel)
Xenogears Broken Mirror OCR Remix (Alexander Prievert)

Kiss Me (Sixpence None the Richer)
Lose Your Way (Sophie B. Hawkins)
Feels Like Home (Chantal Kreviazuk)
Life's a Bitch (Shooter)
Ready for a Fall (P. J. Olsson)
Stay You (Wood)
Any Lucky Penny (Nikki Hassman)
Shimmer (Shawn Mullins)
London Rain (Heather Nova)
To Be Loved (Curtis Stigers)
Letting Go (Sozzi)
Cry Ophelia (Adam Cohen)
Did You Ever Love Somebody (Jessica Simpson)
I Don't Want to Wait (Paula Cole)

These songs are all from the Dawson's Creek CD (I believe the first season--there's like a CD for ever season). Never saw the show, but apparently they had really good songs on it. I love this playlist, taken straight from the CD, because it is a good mix of mood and tempo, slow and fast. And they're all awesome songs.

Yeah, I shuffle my whole collection. It's big enough I'm scared to count it.

I, too, like to shuffle my own (4000 song) playlist, but I also enjoy the engineered playlist now and again.

I generally don't shuffle all my songs since I don't like going from Orchestrations (soundtracks and the like) to rock/pop and back again.  I like to listen to one style/Genera at a time.

I agree. Some genres just don't mix. I'll go to the section of my song library that I feel like listening to and listen to the same kind of music.

I *like* genre jumping. I love that I can listen to a muppets track, then dive into Metallica, come back out to Mark Whitfield, jump through some Pogues, and finally arrive at the Clancy Brother after a brief Jimmy stop.

At the moment, I'm listening to my whole library (+/-), which currently claims to be 4182 songs.

I have a few playlists I switch from, but these tend to be massive.  The smallest is 25 songs, and the largest is 1106.  My sleep playlist alone is 831 songs.

I also have them all loaded on my mp3 player for when I'm not at home.

Yeah, so I'll spare you my playlists.  I'd publish one to HTML if someone wanted, though.

I've been looking to design a sleep playlist, but my library isn't really agreeing.

any suggestions?
