While the idea thrills me, I wonder how wise this is.
The CCG craze has all but passed with only Magic still dominating adult play. L5R has its supporters, but it can't be huge.
I can't think of a CCG launched in the past year that has real staying power.

what if it was a pirates, rocketmen style Card game...
MMMM 3d viper squadrons...

If we define a CCG's success by its "staying power," I think we're selling the genre a little short--asking every new release to repeat Magic's ten-year success story is a pretty tall order. Most people play a given CCG longer than they play a video game, for example: you buy Half-Life, you play, it you beat it, and you put it away, and no one complains about it's staying power. A CCG will probably take a larger investment from a dedicated player, but will also probably give that player much more play time before he moves on to a new game. It's an odd sort of disposable mentality, but a viable one.

No its an actual card game Jeffe, this is the second one WK has announced in as many months.
I have to agree with Fell and Mr. P. Mr. P is right that the Collectible craze is dieing down (even with miniatures) but that always wanes. There was a time before I went to college where practically no on played magic compared to what it is now and was when it got big. To be successful, in my mind, is to find a stable base of players. Unlike Dechiper, who was once a large chunk of the non-magic CCG market, WK is more more stable of a company. I'm also sure that Sci-fi will market this for WK, they like to push their licenses properties, which is all WK needs outside the game trade stuff.
Now the big question is, Can WK design a good CCG?

Shadowfist has been going ten years - it was one of the first released after Magic.

I think I'd much rather have BG minis rather than cards. I'm not interested in a new CCG. I have too much invested in Magic and I don't hardly play that. Minis would be cool just to have though.
