/me files it with the rest of his quick time star wars stuff

edit: maybe it's just me, it looks like the /. effect might be hitting theforce.net too. I thought about my quicktime starwars stuff and thought maybe I should have Troops too. So I went to look, and server down.

Jeffe showed me that once. On the whole, it looks pretty good, but there's a couple things that get to me, like the duelers looking at where their lightsabers are supposed to hit as they fight instead of at what the other one is doing.

Stage Combat Swordplay is hard to do.  Especialy when you are dealing with the kind of "showey" style of a Lightsaber (For something that cuts anything and has no weight  they shure hack hard)
It would be easier if they were fencing,  (set your safe distance and your strikes and it should look good w/o too much concentration)
But with this stuff you really must be mindfull as you need to be closer to get those high-angle strikes and you are therefore at more risk of hitting your opponent.

for 1 stage combat fight (Katanas) what we did to practice is just spar with bamboo for a few afternoons until we were able to anticipate each other, then spent a couple weeks on the actual choreagraphed strikes, Then we finaly moved to 1/2 speed steel and did the actual scene with steel at 3/4 speed.
It had the benifit of looking more real, we knew what the other was doing and could watch eachothers shoulders like rather than blades, but DANM it was alot of work invested for 45 seconds of preformance.

Then again,  they are probably using plastic poles for Lightsabers, so they dont have to be as safe as they would if they were going to do a scene in steel, But I am guessing they didnt have the time to invest Weeks upon weeks into each duel.

Yeah,... I think lightsaber combat is hard for stage combat.

/. murdered panic struck though... murdered it. I think they did a great job with what they had, i.e. no budget at all...

completely a labor of love...

Definately have to check that out, looks good. Of course, the geek within me is screaming that it doesn't appear to fit within the canon, but he can be beaten into submission.

Cannon!?
HA!
There is no such thing!
With Han-shot-second Lucas proved that even the films cannot be considered Cannon
Discount the EU entirely.  "Lucas Approved" only means that George gets his cut of the licence fees and that the authors dont step on each other.
George has the First Last and Only say as to what is "Cannon"
And then such power is only expressed when committed to film... Even then, any film is subject to change at any time at Lucas' whim

Think of it like Papal authority.  It is only "infalliable" (Catholic Doctrine) if it is an official statement on Faith and Morals.
Meaning, that if the Pope were to be a contestant on Jepordy, he COULD get stuff wrong.
But if he is expressing a ruling on Sinfulness, and followes all the proceduer, Catholics believe, he is correct

Course their's cannon, it's the big things on the ships that shoot lasters silly.

Anyway, the film is well done for a fan movie but still all of the live action shots look wrong for somereason (maybe it's just the ugly evil woman in red.....shudder).
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

I'm going to have to go with Spriggan on this one.

Amazing achievement for what they had to work with but... that evil chick in the red...  Couldn't they have found someone who didn't lisp and look like a Pug Dog?

Does she lisp and look like a pug dog in real life or is it just on film?
