I don't think I'll make it to the signing, since I'm going out of town for the Stoker Awards Conference at about the same time. I' will be at CONduit, however, so if you're local and need a signature I should be easy to find.

Wow. I'd certainly be up for it, and by April 2010 I'd even have a US book to sell. We'll definitely look into it.

It will not be in the US until sometime next Spring, but you can order it online from www.bookdepository.co.uk, which ships for free anywhere in the world.

So: because Ookla was totally right about the market timing, I sent this book to my agent, she loved it, I did some rewrites, and we are now shopping it around. So here's hoping.

Dangit, Skar, I already gave up on this show, and now you tell me this week's episode was really good? Why do you do this to me?

Same thing in Mexico--everybody watched DBZ, regardless of age.

I've seen those bacon cups before; I really want to try making them one day.

I haven't commented on Dollhouse in a while, but I just saw the latest episode and I continue to be very, very impressed. I loved last week's when it looked like they were really going nuts with the premise, until I realized at the end that they were just going to push a reset button and undo all the plot progress they'd made. This week, though, proved me wrong--they are more than willing to change major characters, shift directions, and advance the overall plot in some crazy ways, all without sacrificing each individual episode. I really loved it. I hope more people get over their initial reservations with this show and give it another chance.

I tell you, watch The Unusuals. It's completely replaced Castle in my affections, Nathan Fillion or not.

So I watched ABC's other new cop show, The Unusuals, and though it doesn't have Nathan Fillion it's way, way better. I was really impressed, actually: they established good characters and interesting threads, and they set up a long-term plot arc right off the bat. They have gimmicks, obviously, but unlike Castle they don't rely on them at the expense of actual writing.

This episode was definitely a step up, though I'm starting to realize that the last three episodes in a row have been House-style investigations: solve the problem, realize you were wrong, solve it again, realize you were wrong, etc etc. This happens a bit now and then in every good detective show, but House takes it to ridiculous extremes and now Castle is doing the same thing.

Castle has firmly entered "I'll watch it if I'm home but won't go out of my way or look it up on hulu" territory. Skar and Bookstore Guy and I all feel the same way, it seems, and yet we won't stop talking about it.

I love how the teaser preview of question 2 ("Why did you write a book about serial killers?") cuts off halfway through the sentence, so it just says "One day driving home from writing group, someone found out about my secret hobby." Without the last three words of the sentence ("serial killer research"), that quote sounds really creepy.
