Yes, Friday evening should be fine, though I think J.T. has to work so Izzy you might get to drive.

Ooo!  I wanna go!  Then, I can go set myself on fire and jump off the top of the Kimball Tower!  And, even better!  After that, I'll go listen to Morag tell me--at length--about his current role-playing campaign.

Boy, whatta night that would be!

*giggles*

I would pay money for even just the last part, as long as Morag wouldn't be offended at me laughing through the whole thing.

I've *mostly* conditioned him away from that sort of thing.  He still slips a few in occasionally, however.

That's one thing that role-players never seem to understand--we don't want to hear about your campaign or your characters.  Ever.  Really, we don't.  We'll nod when you start talking about it, but we're just being polite.

And, to be perfectly honest, I'm rather fond of P&P.  However, a LDS remake. . .well, lets just say I'm skeptical.  Plus I wouldn't be caught dead going to see a Jane Austin movie without a date.  Fan or no, a man's got his reputation to worry about.

I'm sorry EUOL, am I mistaken, or did the word "Date" just escape your lips! (fingers, whatever)

I am much mistaken if any of us are expecting the movie to be good, or even on the same level as Clueless. But it will be fun to have a girl's night out and mock and laugh. Bad movies are more fun when experienced in a group.

And Saint hates P&P, so I can't understand why he's even looking at the thread. The mention of Jane Austen does strange things to males.

It took me years before I could enjoy Jane Austen--and I still don't really enjoy her books. She makes great movies, however. She should have been a screenwriter (or, given her era, a playwright).

I really think it's a guy/girl thing. I enjoy her books. She tends to drag things out and take you through each step of a situation which probably leaves the guys wondering, "why?" It's the same feeling I have watching my husband play WC3.

I really didn't like readin Austen.  For chick flicks the style works, but for a book it's like, "Skip ahead 5 pages- has anything happened yet?  No?  Skip some more."

That all depends on what you're expecting to happen. The "action" doesn't deal with what people do but with what they say, and who they say it to, and how they say it. If you look at it from the proper perspective, a ton of stuff happens in those 5 pages.

But like I said, I don't like the books much either, so I don't know why I'm defending them. Maybe because I like the time period.

The time period is probably my LEAST favorite of all. If it was written after the first half of the 17th century, i'll wait till a 20th century re-telling. Except for Samuel Clemens. Now there was a good writer.
