Is the Dor the only confirmed supernatural power in the world?

What power made the monks in to 'demons'?

...Another part of it has to do with RJ's compulsive need to describe where the tea came from, what exactly the collar pin looks like and the intimate details of the relevant family and the contents of EVERY ROOM at a detail level that makes you think we're on Antiques Roadshow "The Westlands" edition.

Ok. I am a huge RJ fan, I love the books... all of them, all the time.. I've been a 'wait for the next book' guy since I finished book 4 for the first time (Perrin's ending in that book is still my favorite set of scenes in the series)...

That said, this quote made me almost fall out of my chair laughing... it is so true! I mean, i love the detail he used but WOW could he describe the slashes of color in a dress!!!

Brandon Sanderson / Re: If Mistborn was a movie. . . .

Am I the only one that never pictured Elend Venture as a super-heart-throb? It really confuses me to hear people say he should be cast as someone like Orlando Bloom...

I always pictured Elend as passingly attractive but not 'man-pretty' by any means!
I honestly never pictured vin as drop-dead-gorgeous either... Pretty in the first book, maybe as much as 'beautiful' by the third book, when she has finally found balance in her life...

Anyway :)

I like the idea of:

Elend as Joshua Jackson. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005045/
He's got a young enough face to be able to pull of early twenties/late teens...how old is El' anyway?

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Best Mistborn Fight Scene *SPOILERS*
« on: November 12, 2008, 09:44:04 PM »
I'm new to the forum and started reading Brandon's work when he was announced for a memory of light...

I had to vote for the vin/mist vs. the inquistors/ruin fight for multiple reasons...
I think it was by far the most cinematic and when you compare a fight scene, or at least when *i* compare a fight scene it has to be compared with the imagery in the best of the star wars fight scenes, the best of the matrix fight scenes, 300, etc etc etc...

In fact, that scene actually left me thinking 'this is VERY matrixy...in a good 'not ripping it off' way... in the back of my mind, all the way to the end...

Also, this scene shouldnt get discounted just because Vin ended up having GOD-power... She didnt start the fight with God-power and still did EXCEPTIONALLY well against the God-directed (Ruin) 13 Inquistors...
