Official World Fantasy 2006 Thread
« on: January 17, 2006, 09:07:40 PM »
This convention has been mentioned in some of the other threads, but I figured it was important enough to warrant its own thread.

Here's the official website - http://www.fact.org/wfc2006/

Location: Austin, Texas
Time: November 2-5, 2006
Membership Cost: $125 before July 31st

So who is going?  I finish up my teaching contract in Taiwan a few days before the convention so count me in!

Barring unforseen circumstances, I'll be going.

Hey, how did I become a ditch digger? I thought I would always be on level one?

Over on the left, under your name, you can see your experience bar.  It shows how many posts you've made at your current level, and how many you need in order to move up to the next level.

So, for example, Exp: 6/20 means you've made 6 posts at level two, and when you have 20 posts you'll move up to level three.

If I lived ANYWHERE near there, possibly......but as it stands, Toronto, ON Canada is a slight jog from Austin TX.

It's likely I'll be going--I liked Eric's "barring unforeseen circumstances" line.  I'm definitely planning on it.

I wasn't planning on WFC last year, and somehow ended up there, almost on accident.  (Had a book tour nearby.)

My first con was in Texas.  I'll be considering attendance, but it will depend on finances.

World Fantasy in Texas won't be the same without watching a possessed ninja pour V8 all over her neck.

I'll probably be going, especially if there are ninjas.  Parker, we could do the hotel thing again if you want.

I'm cool with that, Ctrl--we'll chat about it at writing group.  We've got plenty of time, unlike last year.

I know I'm a girl, but assuming I can afford it, could I go in with you guys?

I prefer the term "money contributing individual" as opposed to "girl".

As the great Adam Sandler said in "The Wedding Singer," "I'm a big fan of money. I like it, I use it, I have a little. I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in."

We'll chat.
