Just because I know someone will whine if I don't post a new thread, so here it is.
Hope you're happy now, punks.
-
Well....that almost killed my happiness, but....Jade's pessimism can't quite slaughter it all the way.
I'm happy that I'm back to being Swordsman in the Dueling League. I'm also happy that I'm going to Europe in May.....And I'm really happy that I finally finished Elantris. It took me forever to get around to reading that book, and I can't for the life of me remember why I was putting it off now, because it was so flipping good!
-
I'm happy because I've finished my visiting teaching for the month. Happy dance!
-
Wow. 5 days in? You're good....I guess in a way, I've finished too, but that's only because I don't have anyone to visit teach....at least to my knowledge...That's what I get for just getting back from school and having my records take forever to get to the new ward..
-
I am happy because I and my family are all in good health.
-
I'm happy because I didn't pass out at work today. Totally thought I was going to....I'm also happy because I just ate some absolutely scrum-diddly-freakin'-umptious soup. Potato with Bacon. Man, it was good.
-
I love potato-base soups.
-
I'm happy because The Last Olympian is coming out this Thursday!!! Yah!! ;D
Bastille
-
What's that?
-
What's that?
It's the last book in the Percy Jackson series and it's going to be really good because it's going to end all teh questions we've been asking.
Bastille
-
Really?? Awesome!!! I have totally lost track of what's up with the last book in that series but that's kinda funny 'cause I was just re-reading The Sea of Monsters again (randomly).…Weird. But I'll have to get the last book, weird or no!!!
(Intriguing title, too. Ominous. :o
-
Very intriguing title. That;s what I like about books with intriguing titles. They are ussual good books.
Bastille
-
Usually. ;)
-
Yup!!! Are YOU looking forward to any new books this year?
Bastille
-
I'm happy because I got to make chicken ceaurd'en bleu for the first time in forever.
-
I'm trying to figure out what your misspelling of cordon is supposed to indicate, but Google is getting me nowhere.
-
I'm happy because I got to make chicken ceaurd'en bleu for the first time in forever.
What is that? Sounds good though.

Bastille
It's swiss cheese, ham and chicken wrapped together and breaded and baked. Then you put a white sauce on it.
I make everything from scratch.
-
Wow, you know how to make Swiss cheese from scratch? ;)
-
I actually do. >>
But I meant the breading and the sauce from scratch. :P
he he
-
my family loves that, but since I am a mother of 5, I cheat and make the casserole version, but it is still pretty good.
-
Yup!!! Are YOU looking forward to any new books this year?
Well…I don't really follow upcoming books anymore but I'm sure there are some.
That sounds good!
-
I'm going to plant my garden today! well some of it at least. And force my children to help me, HAHAHAHAhahaha. The benefits of being an evil mother.
-
I had a mother like that. She kept trying to get us kids interested in gardening, art, and violin. A couple years ago when my husband and I bought our house, the first thing she did was to bring over an armful of seed catalogues and bully me into ordering things. ;)
-
Fun fun fun!!! :D
Actually, I play violin.…
-
When I was a kid I always had "homework" when they were working outside. I'm playing catch-up now.
-
When I woke up this morning. Mouse house smelled of corned beef and cabbage. "]]]]
-
It's Springing outside, and this makes me happy.
-
I'm trying to figure out what your misspelling of cordon is supposed to indicate, but Google is getting me nowhere.
It was basically me having a dumb moment. >>' I thought it was spelled differently because it was French. xD
-
Spring, spring, what a wonderful thing!!!
(You guys catch the rhyme? ;D)
-
I'm happy because I quit smoking yesterday. Yay me! 8)
-
Congrats!! Keep it up, man!
-
The steelhead are spawning, and I'm going fishing tomorrow. ;D
-
Good luck, CthulhuKefka.
-
I'm happy because it's warm. In Idaho. In March....This happens only rarely....Although I think I heard it was going to rain and snow tomorrow...which reminds me that this IS Idaho in March....Oh well.
I'm also happy because my aunt called me this morning, asking for my address, because she and couple other members of that side of my family want to help me pay for the British Literary Tour I'm going on next month! I was very surprised. And grateful. I was so happy and thankful that I even cried when I got off the phone. It was awesome! My family rocks!
-
I am happy because I had a successful fishing trip on Saturday. On the third cast I hauled in an eight pound steelhead. the rest of the day we got skunked, but I did catch a fish. Other than a couple of mis-haps which involved me falling in the water it was a good day. The first time I tripped on a log and only went in up to my elbows. The second time however I went all the way in. The water filled up my waders and boy was it cold. Of course I had my cell phone in my pocket and it got wet, but I took the battery out of it and set it on my cars defroster vent and it seems ok now.

-
Who's the guy in the hat?
-
that would be ME. ;D
-
Oh…hehe right. :-[
-
I'm happy because I quit smoking yesterday. Yay me! 8)
Yay you! I'm impressed! I can't even shake my chocolate addiction, I can't imagine how much harder nicotine would be. Keep us posted on your progress.
-
Are you using the patches or did you just…stop?
-
Thanks all. 8)
Are you using the patches or did you just…stop?
I used one patch, then got bored with them. They itched. Just going on pure willpower right now.
-
Congrats, keep it up. You can do it! ;D
Yeah, I found out the hard way that I'm allergic to the patch. And the gum didn't really help. If I'm gonna quite, its gotta come from just not wanting to do it any more.
But here's one to you for doing it.
**tips hat**
Good luck.
-
Good luck on the quitting. My father has been tapering off for years now, but still hasn't managed it all the way.
I am home with no relatives in the house! Went to a great funeral today though, the type that makes you want to be better so that people will say such nice things about you when you're dead. It was my husband's uncle, so not a lot of emotional attachment, but inspiring, in a weird way.

My father feares me, I was not allowed on his fathers deathwake.
-
I'm going to Chicago this weekend - round trip from Kansas City for $17 (I love Megabus!). The purpose of the trip is to see some friends and have a fun time before becoming a responsible, self-sacrificing mother next month. I'm excited!
-
Going to San Francisco for the Cherry Blossom Festival next week! We're going to buy a bunch of sashimi, too, and bring it home to make sushi (yum!)
-
Happy Easter everyone! Hope you eat to many chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.
My 19 month old went on 2 easter egg hunts in the past two days and keeps having candy for lunch, but today he had candy for breakfast. He loves Easter.
-
It's a fun holiday for little kids. 8)
-
Happy Easter everyone!
-
I went to the intercontinental brunch in the crystal ballroom it was AWESOME some eight year old girl filled her plate with the chocolate from the fondue fountain thing and preceded to make a soup of desert afterwards lol! Needless to say it was the march of penguins when we left...
-
…Where was this? Just curious.
-
My family is still hyped up from 2 days of non-stop candy eating and it's like imposible for any quiet time in the house. ;)
-
I think I need to buy more candy next year. Ours is always gone by Sunday afternoon :(
-
I'd rather had less because I get so tempted and then not only do I feel guilty because I ate to much but my stomach hurts as well. :D
-
I got to play in a return of the king paintball scenario game on saturday. It was the first time this year that I got to play. I had lots of fun, got to shoot lots of paint, and got shot up a lot. We lost the game but good times anyways. ;D
-
I'm happy for a multitude of reasons. First, I'm hyped up on Robin Hood (the BBC tv show...watch it. It's awesome). I spent all day Saturday watching it, and I'm still feeling the effects of that love. Seriously. I'm in love with Robin. That sounds dorky, I know, but it's true. Second, I watched Chuck last night, and it was completely epic, and next week's episode will be even more epic (although I won't be able to watch it until late May...). Third, the sun is out, and it is deliciously warm. Warm is good. Fourth, I just ate donut (a chocolate bismark (cream-filled), if anyone's wondering....:)).
And now for the last two. The big ones. It's my birthday tomorrow, and it's the only one where the day will match how old I'm turning. I'm turning 22! AH! And last, but DEFINITELY not least, I will be in Ireland in less than one week! Double AH!
-
Wow. That was a lot. :D (Early) Happy Birthday, Wil!!! (cuz ill probably forget tomorrow :P)
-
Thank you, Shag! And it's okay if you do. Plenty of real-life people won't....Like my roommates. And the people I'm going on the tour with...That's not saying that I won't welcome birthday wishes tomorrow on here. I totally will. I'll take all the birthday wishes I can get. :P
-
Haha>> (And the wishing of your birthday will get you more posts, too!! :o)
-
Well. Kind of. Not really, though. I mean, I may post in the morning (maybe), but I'm going to be in class from 9 to 4 so I won't have to time to be checking up all the time, replying to people. Plus, thanking every single person who wishes me a happy birthday (supposing anyone does....) breaks the rules...And I'm trying to adhere to the rules now since I went for a time without really adhering to them...And Jade kind of got on our cases for it ('ours' meaning me and those of us who were on Stupid Titles at the time...hence the dueling league. That's how the dueling thing started. We were posting too prolifically and Jade decided to amuse himself by proctoring a duel between Silk and myself...).
-
Haha sounds like fun! I wish I was there when you guys were doing that.
-
Yeah....that whole thing was riddled with fun. I actually read through all, like, 70 pages of posting over that two week time span a couple weeks ago. We're some funny individuals when collected like we were....There is some VERY hilarious stuff in those Stupid Titles threads (VI and VII)....But we're getting off-topic on this thread, so...yeah.
-
Don't the Mayans (or was it the Incas? :-\ ) say we only have like two more years left? Something about their calendar stopping?
-
We do only have about two more years left until the IPv4 apocalypse. So, yeah, I guess they're right.
-
2012 is the beginning of the fifth Mayan age. But there's also this:
http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/04/2012storms.html
-
Damn. That's not good.
-
"This is supposed to be an 'appy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue over when we'll be killed..."
-
Googling that made me happy (http://www.wavsource.com/snds_2009-04-25_3733721385408864/movies/monty_python_hg/happy_occasion.wav), and reminded me that it's been far too long since I watched that movie.
-
What movie is it from?
-
"Hey Ryos, what did you do today?"
"Today, I taught a man how to fish."
Fish, man! Fish with all your might! (http://tinyurl.com/dc5j8z)
It's possible that I'm slightly loopy. I wonder if there's enough oxygen in this server room?
-
Actually, ryos…that could explain a lot.… :P jk
-
Of course, it would be hard to reconcile Christainity and belief in Mayan prophecy. . .
-
Who says he's Christian??
-
Well actually Ookla did. ;)
-
Pshh. Details.
-
I never said I believed in it. :) I do believe in solar flares though.
-
I believe in cookies and the indestructability of Death (also known as myself). That's it. Nothing else matters.
And canolis, actually. Canolis are Italian and therefore awesome.
-
That's a bit of a stretch, Shaglav.
-
I don't believe in cilantro.
-
'Shaglav?' What?? ???
Well, I do.
-
Back on topic people! I will begin.
My flowers are blooming and they're beautiful! My neighbor complimented them today and that pleases me.
-
…let's stay off-topic.
(jk)
-
Sigyn, that's absolute blasphemy.
Anyway, I've cleaned up my computer a bit. That's a happy thing.
-
Wow, Jade. That was a total letdown after Nessa's amazingly suspenseful post.
-
I got through the battle scene near the climax of my book and didn't get too bogged down.
-
I've found a number of facsimiles, transcriptions, and translations online for various important (but mostly less important) Fechtbücher. Yay for having material to work on!
-
Kudos for the punctuated uemlaut. `Course typing an e isn't that tough.
-
I always thought using an extra letter to represent an umlaut was silly. Learn how to use accents, silly people.
-
Jade did you copy and paste that umlaut in?
-
On a Mac to get an umlaut you type option-u and then the letter you want it over. On Windows there are a couple ways to do it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umlaut_(diacritic)#Keyboard_input
-
For my part, Shag, no I did not. I use the US-International keyboard setup, so I typed " u to get ü. However, I am familiar with the ANSI Alt+Numpad combinations (how I used to do it), so back in the day, I would have just typed ALT + 0252.
One the note of happiness: I just found a facsimile of a French fechtbuch which covers longsword. I didn't think such a thing existed.
-
I am going to Sherwood Forest today....I am ecstatic! Seriously. I love Robin Hood.....
And for lesser excitement (for me anyway), we're going to Stratford-upon-Avon later in the afternoon, and that'll be really fun too, escpecially since we're seeing a play put on by the Royal Shakespeare Company...As you like it. It should be awesome.
But I'm still more excited for Robin Hood....And I'm not ashamed about that...Well. Not really.
-
I see…thanks. (ü) And ñ, too. Wow, thanks!!! (This will be very useful for Spanish homework.)
-
Lincolnshire is a pretty industrialized area now days isn't it?
-
Became an Eagle Scout last night :D
-
Woohoo for eagle scouts! Congrats!
-
Yeah i was life for 3.5 years and then quit scouts b/c i couldn't find a good troop when i moved
-
Is that like Boy Scouts? ???
-
Yes, I believe it's the highest rank you can achieve within Boy Scouts. Besides a bunch of merit badges, you have to do some sort of service project. Most Eagle Scouts I know attained the rank during or right after their senior year of high school, but I don't know how typical that is.
-
Pretty typical. I'm a senior, and most of the people who got eagle that entered scouts with me got it their senior year.
-
Life is the rank below eagle and i got it right before turning 13 which is impressive....my great uncle was the youngest eagle scout in Ohio when he earned his...he was 14
-
:o That is impressive. I got life when I was fourteen, and I'm a month away from graduating high school.
-
I'm a senior also..though i don't see how that is relevant
-
It took me nearly 4 years to get from life to eagle.
-
that's almost as bad as me i was life when i quit at 16 so for 3 years and i was only 4 badges and a project short of eagle... i was pushed to get it by my mom so i really don't regret not getting it b/c it wasn't for me i enjoyed my old troop but since i couldn't find one i enjoyed in the neighborhood i quit
-
Huh. In it for the social aspect, not the scouting?
I was in it for neither. I quit before I ever hit Tenderfoot. Something about BSA always seemed slightly deranged to me.
-
No it wasn't social it was fun...i mean i was the SPL for 6 months and the ASPL for 1 year
-
I might get a '69 Camaro. >>
-
Had super-delicious chimichangas for dinner. Yummy!
-
Now that is serious Tex-Mex
-
Chimichangas? They either come from Arizona or Sonora, and while they may be popular in Tex-Mex, they're also very popular in parts of Mexico, and this and their probably origin, I think, places them outside of the realm of what can be called "serious Tex-Mex".
-
I've always been told they weren't traditional mexican food, and considering i was told that by mexicans i believe it...and Tex Mex isn't neccesarily Texan is American Mexican Food...just like we have American Chinese Food and Traditional Chinese Food :P
-
Nice, miyabi!!! What colors?
-
Does it matter? I'd think that just about any '69 Camaro is pretty much awesome just on principle.
-
Well, there are some that think it's a traditional Sonoran dish, Kaz. If this is true, then it is authentic Mexican, but regional, meaning someone who's not from, say, Sonora, wouldn't necessarily recognize the dish as Mexican.
-
Sherwood Forest was fun. The play was even more fun. I saw 2 of them....And then I went to Wales. And learned a bit of Welsh. Welsh is a really cool language....I think I'm going to Jane Austen's house today, but I'm not sure....I know I'm going to Stonehenge tomorrow, though, and that should be a blast.
-
American adaptations are only Tex Mex if they originate in Texas. We (California) have our very own take thank you very much and it's not Tex Mex.
As for chimis, I think it's "burritos" that you're thinking of. Any sort of wrap is traditionally a taco, even if it's folder in the Cali style. A Burrito was traditionally a deepfried pastry like a stuffed hoe cake. But 160years later it doesn't matter much.
Just pass the chili colorado with mole, and I'll mop it up with my folded tortilla harina and you can call it what ever you like.
:D
-
Wilson: Welsh is indeed a cool language. "Iaith y nefoedd", as we say.
-
I am happy because my wife had our 4th child 5 days ago and everyone is doing great.
Her name is Mae Iris and is so cute.
-
Congrats!
Singing in three-part harmony is WIN.
Also, I have usurped the band conductor's position as the Triangle Queen.
Muahaha.
-
Congrats, Lost One!
-
That's awesome, LO! Does Mae Iris mean something in particular? (Just curious.)
-
Mae starts with a M and so does my mother-in-laws name Michelle and my mothers name Mary but now she goes by Anne.
Iris is for my grandmother Iris who pasted away about 1 and a half ago.
We also just like the name.
-
Congrats!
I'm happy because Ari thinks I should get an MPhil in History, and thinks it would be worth it for me to go all the way to the UK to do so...
-
Opening night was great!!!
-
Congrats, LAVGRS.
-
I'm finally getting a girly night on the town. ;D No more kids just alcohol and some great tunes. It's been too long.
-
Rumors about disliked politicians make me smile... ex. Rick Perry keeps the male equivalent of a mistress on the side
-
Thanks Ook. Too bad friday night sucked. :(
-
So, officially getting married this summer... finally...
It will be weird to not be engaged anymore, after all these years.
-
Grats!
-
Congratulations Jade
-
how long were you engaged?
-
So, officially getting married this summer... finally...
It will be weird to not be engaged anymore, after all these years.
congrats! Any reason why you were engaged for a long time (i.e. years) before finally getting married? Just decided to take things slow, or some other reasons?
-
Congrats.
-
Congrats!!! (Is this to Ari? Sorry I have an awful memory she is your fiance right?)
-
My computer isn't dead. As far as I can tell, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it anymore. The hard drive not mounting was due to a corrupted filesystem which happened because when I moved the computer to the bedroom when the wireless wasn't working, the wall socket the power strip was plugged into was loose (most of the sockets in our apartment are way loose) and next to the bed, which, when jiggled, cycled the power several times in a row.
This is a bad thing for computers... Mac OS X's filesystem is journaled nowadays, which is supposed to keep corruption from happening, but I think one of those subsequent power cuts happened when the journaling was fixing itself. The computer wouldn't start up, and when I started it via CD it couldn't see the hard drive. Disk Utility could see the hard drive but couldn't even tell how much space was used/free on it and couldn't repair it or even check it for errors.
DiskWarrior came to the rescue and rebuilt the filesystem without any losses. This is the third time in my life it's saved my bacon. So, this is a happy things post. I'll have to buy a new wireless router (since my computer is verified to work here at Brandon's and shows very good wireless signal strength), but I've hated that router for the last several years and will be happy to replace it. I'm thinking something with remote backup capability this time.
-
Technology. Ain't it grand?
-
Ari and I will have been engaged for more than 5 years when we get married this summer.
-
Jade,
Haven't seen much of you for a couple of days. So how old is Ari? You're just late twenties aren't you?
-
I'm thinking something with remote backup capability this time.
Out of curiosity, why not just grab an external drive (which you'll need anyway) and leave it plugged in? (I'm assuming from the bit about power cycling that you have a desktop and not a laptop.) Time Machine does the rest.
-
Jade,
Haven't seen much of you for a couple of days. So how old is Ari? You're just late twenties aren't you?
I've been busy! Busy busy busy! Wedding, work, and trying to do some martial arts, too...
Anyway, we're both in our 20's.
-
Well, if I got a time capsule, it would have the hard drive in it. As for getting an external and leaving it plugged in, I like to minimize wires and my computer usually sits on a very small table in front of the living room couch.
-
Some people see rain and say, "Oh, crap, now I need to wash my car." These people are crazy. I see rain and say, "Ooh, free car wash!"
<3 the rain.
-
Gig went well. Got to perform our new vocal number. Fun stuff.
-
…Why would rain make your car in need of a wash?? ???
-
It doesn't make sense. The rain is why I don't get car washes alot.
-
If it only rains a tiny bit, you're left with a lot of water spots on your car that dry to a slightly different color.
-
I technically should've posted this a few days ago, but oh well. I'M HOME!!! And yes. I am happy. I do miss Europe, particularly London (since I LOVED London), but I love being home.
And now my goal is to go back there in a few years, with my sisters. And I'll make it up to Scotland this time. And hopefully have a lot more than 3 1/2 weeks. I think at least 6 will be good...
-
Oh yeah. Finishing the first draft of my novel was also a happy thing.
-
Grats....
-
Going to Disneyland this coming weekend is a happy thing.
-
Thanks Kaz.
Fun stuff, Jade!
I'm listening to some of the filk Ookla linked me to. It's pure gold.
-
Thunderstorms five days in a row! Very unusual to get so much rain this time of year, but my garden loves it and my kids are all weirded out.
-
Okay I really buckled down decided where to split the acts and voila I was writing again. Sometimes maintenance/busiwork helps me get back into the story.
-
I've started my translation of La Noble Science, which makes me feel somewhat accomplished. Better yet, I discovered that a French HEMA group did much of the hard work of interpreting the thing (and even did a minimal amount of translation into English & modern French), leaving me to worry less about what they heck the text means, and more time to focus on providing a proper translation of what is meant (and written).
-
I'm very impressed by anyone translating, my language skills are horrible. Are you doing this for fun, or some other reason?
-
I'm not sure "fun" is the right word, as it's fairly hard work.
I'm doing it, I guess, to expand the corpus of knowledge available in HEMA? Also: translating manuals is somewhat a matter of prestige, and as there are so few early French manuals in existence, and I don't know German or Italian, I thought I'd better jump on it.
-
Hard work can be fun.
-
Hard work can be fun. How many of us here write books for fun, again?
Happy things: I got new noisemakers today! :D
-
A happy thing? I got a job interview for Monday. Here I was just about to give up on my summer job search after applying to like fourteen different places. I just thought if no one calls a week after Memorial Day, well, that's that.
Even better? The place who called me was the job I wanted most.
-
Nice! What's the job?
Happy things: I think I've almost convinced myself to quit my job...
-
Which is…?
-
I get one interview for every like 25 places i apply at... but then again the only work expierence i put down is at Kroger
-
Nice! What's the job?
Front desk clerk at the Clarion Hotel in Portland. I liked the atmosphere of that hotel the best of the places I got applications from.
-
If you work at night, you can write like Brandon did.
-
From what I've heard, night shifts can throw off your sleeping patterns pretty badly.…
-
If you work at night, you can write like Brandon did.
My thought exactly. Next semester, I have a job at the front desk of my dorm, and I asked for night shifts specifically so I could write.
-
A night shift would make me crazy.
-
A night shift would make me crazy.
Yeah, because you aren't up late at night at ALL ;)
-
LMAO.
He makes a good point Silk. :D
-
I got my copy of Alcatraz today. I'm so happy ;D Now I just need to get the second
-
I don't mind being up late. I mind working late.
I prefer to work early and get it over with. Less chance of work interfering with things that way, too.
-
A person after my own heart!
-
The fundraiser even that my band played for on the 23rd raised $16,000.
-
My last day of high school was today! 8)
-
Graduation?
-
My graduation is Monday morning and i have one more final tommorrow and I have a mandatory rehearsal tommorrow also... blah why do i need to practise walking across a stage *chuckles* i think i should dance a jig across the stage a very white uncoordinated jig....
-
My graduation is on Friday. I've got rehearsal on Thursday, but I got to exempt all but one of my finals, and that was today. So I'm officially done with high school! :D
-
Congratulations to you both on finishing high school.
So, my happy thing is that I finally finished Act One and Two of my short story (looking more like a novelette now) submission for Writers of the Future. It's the third draft, and I definitely think they are getting better. Act Three will still take a long time, but at least I'm at the climax.
-
GRATS!!!! :D
and thank you
-
Thanks very much ;D
-
EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!
And so is school. Well, except for Prize Day, which is basically a day devoted to being depressed over how badly we did on our finals as we sit and watch other people get prizes. Yeah.
-
My NanoWriMo proof copy came in today! :D
Kind of goofy to be excited about it, really... but I am. ::)
Also, apparently, I wrote a long book. ::)
-
I finally finished a 2 1/2 page essay I've been working on since 1...It really shouldn't have taken me nearly as long as it did. Not just because of the length (and that's double-spaced, too), but also the topic should've made it SIMPLE, but for some reason....I just couldn't focus.
But oh well. Now it's done. And I am happy. Because I'm now listening to music (I couldn't earlier....more distraction, you see. Music does that to me....), and reading Girl Genius for a third time in less than a week (I LOVE this webcomic...more than I can possibly put words to....*sigh*) and writing more of my short story....Happiness abounds. :)
And Silk! That's awesome!
-
Ari was given a MacBook, and so I spent the evening on Garageband making music.
-
I finished my revision! Hurray!

I'm happy that my nearsister has invited me for a month to Omaha! And she's going to pay for it ;D Her hubby is going out on some month-long training thingiemabob so I'm going to help her with her one year old Bethany and attend one of my favorite churches in Lincoln! Though I'm a bit nervous about visiting Union College again, I think I may be quite mopey when I get back because I'll miss it. Never thought I'd be excited about being in Nebraska again! The flatness is a sort of claustrophobia to me but opposite? I wonder if there is a term for that...but a month is long enough I won't go too crazy missing my mountains ;D
-
School from 9 AM - 11 PM. Studied for and took 2 finals. Finished a humongous project. Ate Del Taco. Beyond tired. Spring term is no more.
Finished. Happy. :)
-
How is that happy other than finishing that sounds MISERABLE!!!!! :-\
-
It was a miserable day, but I got through it and that makes me happy.
-
Somebody pointed me to Harry Potter: The Musical and I can't stop laughing.
Oh god.
XD
-
That sounds.....disturbing... why would you want to see Daniel so and so jump around and sing...probably in falsetto too... ???
-
Um, I don't remember any Daniel in the books at all.
-
Daniel Radcliff in the movies though. . .
-
I can't see that guy singing. I mean, honestly. ::)
Happy note: Shaggy's back.
-
Oh. I've never watched the movies and have no idea about the actors.
This wasn't a movie, it was a stage production which was put up on Youtube. Amateur and unofficial but - I do not say this lightly - actually quite well done.
Hilariously irreverent and inaccurate, but that's half the fun.
Happy things: Open mic tonight was fun. Will try to make this a habit. Whee.

What's a nearsister? Is that a 7DA thing, or...?
-
Inaccurate and yet...surprisingly accurate. That's at least half the fun.
Dumbledore: I'll just put all the good guys in Gryffindor, all the bad guys in Slitherin, and the rest can just go wherever the hell they want.
Cedric: What about Hufflepuff?
Dumbledore: What the HELL is a "Hufflepuff"?
;D
-
*grins* That's exactly it. They got it so deliberately wrong... but it's so right.
The writing and especially the staging are really clever, I think. And I don't think listening to so much of this music is healthy. ; ;
Note to self: Drop the stupid volcano story, write musical version of The Ringing Horn instead.
ETA: I love Cedric's reaction to that quote you posted, too. He just shrugs and sits back down. Without. A. Word.
So funny. :D
-
I'm currently in Mexico. It is a beautiful climate.
-
Not worried about swine flu? :P
Where in Mexico?
-
Puerto Vallarta. And no, I'm not especially concerned about swine flu.
-
Wait. You're in Mexico? What are you doing here?! ;)
Just rode my bike down the Provo River Parkway Trail, which runs pretty much from my doorstep all the way down to the shore of Utah Lake. ~10 miles round trip. So awesome! Next time, there will be photos. 8)
-
I should ride my unicycle on it.
-
People were rather generous at Ari's bridal shower...
-
I have almost doubled the length of my short story in the last two hours. I am ecstatic! If I keep this rate, I'll have 30 pages of story by tomorrow evening and will (hopefully) be finished with it. This is good. Especially since I gave permission to a friend to punish me cruelly if it's not done by Wednesday....
-
Wait. You're in Mexico? What are you doing here?! ;)
Because vacation is a place to waste time :P
-
But I thought you were a pessimist. ;) (your siggy)
-
Being lazy is like active pessimism.
Also, I rode a dolphin today. It feels like an injustice to the experience when I say it was really, really cool. It was much cooler than that.
-
This is probably a little premature, but...I'm going to see my favorite band play in Salt Lake on September 18th, and I'm so freaking excited about it!
-
My iPhone makes me happy.
-
This is probably a little premature, but...I'm going to see my favorite band play in Salt Lake on September 18th, and I'm so freaking excited about it!
The Fray? I'll totally be there. ;D
-
Nope. Making April. They're playing in the Avalon Theatre.
-
Nope. Making April. They're playing in the Avalon Theatre.
Huh. I had no idea. Oh well. As much as I like Making April, they lose to the concentrated awesome of Meese, Jack's Mannequin, and The Fray in one show. The Fray in particular - I've seen them before and they put on a spectacular show.
-
Jack's and The Fray? Wow....That's pretty cool. Still, though. I've never seen Making April and I missed their concert back in April. I refuse to miss this one. I love them too much for that, and when I think about meeting the band members. Ah. I can't wait.
-
Ryos--my sister just informed me that the concert you're referring to is this 18th. I was referring to September 18th. That's when Making April is performing...And now I really want to get down to SLC for that concert in 2 days...Shame it'd cost me 80 bucks.
-
Paul McCartney is coming to Dallas!!!!!
-
I recently upgraded my MacBook's hard drive to 500 GB. Woohoo!
Picking a good name for your hard drive is never easy, at least for me. This is especially true now that I have a Boot Camp partition to name as well, and I want its name to play off the one I give to my main partition. I'm not content with "Macintosh HD", oh no - I want my drive names to be at least a little bit clever. In the end, I named the Mac partition "Vasher"...and the Windows partition "Denth". ;D
-
My work computer and its hard drive are named Stormlight Archive. :)
-
Ah. I am done with school this semester. I just turned in the last of my assignments for my tour classes (the 10 credits I took from the British Literary Tour that I went on). I feel good. Real good.
-
Getting married in 15 days! Squee!
-
My hard-drive is name property of so and so
-
I revised my story from 12,000 words to about 4,000. I'm pretty happy about that.
-
We haven't been soaked in smoke and falling ash for two days running now.
-
Some friends in the Ward decided to throw me a Bachelor Party (Mormon style - root beer, volleyball, and videogames). Anyone (male) in Reno this Saturday is welcome to show up.
-
All the way to Reno? I'd come with a cake (IYKWIM, AITYD), but that's a bit of a drive for me. I was going to congratulate you on getting married, but forgot until you posted again. Congratulations!
I forgot to be happy here nine days ago when my hearing was restored by the miracles of modern science! I am happy about that. Even though life gets a little noisy at times. Par example: my nephews yelled in my ears this weekend. Woo! Totally worth it. Being able to understand people who are standing more than two meters away is great!
-
Happy Thing #1: Going to see West Side Story tomorrow. PSYCHED!!!!!!!
Happy Thing #2: We went to the VZW store today and they fixed my brother's phone so now I'm not getting all of his calls when his phone is turned off!!! yayyy
-
We timed our setlist tonight and it turns out our initial list was nearly twenty minutes short. Added some tunes, so now I get to do a second vocal number. Hooray.
...
At ten in the morning. When NOBODY IS GOING TO BE THERE. ::)
-
Getting married on Sat.
-
You had a good thing going for you and now you're going to throw it all away, eh? (j/k)
Honestly, congratulations!
-
Haha. Cute. :P
I shouldn't mock you for it, that sounds like something I would say. ::)
Anyway, congrats Jade, and best of luck in the future. :)
-
Congrats, Jade!
Happy: I'm going on vacation tomorrow. To the Flagstaff/Sedona area. I've never been to Arizona. I'm really excited....The only sad thing is that we're driving there. From Idaho. In one day. Six people in one van for 14 hours straight. Ugh....
-
Have fun being miserable for the rest of your life!!!! :P
-
Half-way done with summer reading. Yayy……
-
I'm going to the Grand Canyon today! I'm really excited to see it....
-
Summer classes are now out, and another class bites the dust. :D
-
Married, living in a house, and my kitchen is possibly the best-stocked (in terms of dishware, appliances, and the ilk) out of anyone I know, including both sets of parents...
-
Do you have any friends who cook for a living?
-
Only five days till I move into my dorm. God I can't wait to get out of this house.
-
I commute...i was given the options of that or paying for my own dorm...which school are you going to? My orientation at UTD was yesterday and today, school starts thursday.
-
I'm moving out too! Though, now I'll only be about a block from the college instead of 15 miles.
-
Sorry for the dp, but I have to get this one out there.
So, because my sister is on Guard I am getting an impromptu try-out tomorrow morning before Band Camp starts. =D
I'm really excited, 1) because it'll be fun, and 2) it'll be something to do with my sister on a consistent basis.
-
We got all our stuff moved into the new house. Many thanks to Brandon, Dan, Ethan & Ethanspawn, Steve, and Nick. (And Stacy and Charisa arrived after everything was done and we were sitting around talking...)
-
Do you have any friends who cook for a living?
No?
-
@ Jade I was curious why you were so excited about it and thought that may be it...obviously i was wrong...well good for you...
Now, i ussually prefer social sciences but currently i'm enrolled in a genetics course and it kicks butt!!! I've learned more in the three days of class and outside study than 3 weeks of highschool biology
-
Now, i ussually prefer social sciences but currently i'm enrolled in a genetics course and it kicks butt!!! I've learned more in the three days of class and outside study than 3 weeks of highschool biology
That's typical of college courses. High school is worthless.
I'm happy that, tomorrow, I get to install a new OS on my computer. There needs to be a better word for nerd. :)
-
Trying to get a start on revising my novel (or rather, re-reading and taking notes so that I can then start revising it) and just had a sudden insight into one of the characters' motivations. Some aspects of the book are going to make SO much more sense now.
-
I'm happy that I'm starting a new job soon that will significantly increase my income. Yay for more money.
-
Glad I finished copyediting that book last night. A job like that requires hours and you just have to sit down and do it. And do it. And do it.
-
I have a job for the school year. I'll be tutoring in the writing center. So relieved.
-
Got into the section of CS 340 that I wanted. Now I can stop refreshing the registration page every 10 minutes. So happy - class schedule anxiety is second only to unemployment anxiety.
-
That's way better than the old system I used my first year of college: Stay up until 2 a.m. to start calling the registration line, then call and call and call until 8 a.m. hoping I got through, then fall asleep and finally wake up at noon and manage to get through only to find out the class got filled by upperclassmen days earlier.
Which is still better than what my parents had to do, which was go from table to table standing in line until your card was full.
-
Ah, registration. Fun stuff. The semester starts next week and I'm still not entirely sure what my schedule is. I've finished registering, but I may have to drop 2 classes and replace them with German classes, to get my foreign language out of the way....And the german professor hasn't e-mailed me back.
Question: Why would a school cancel a language program (for non-financial reasons), citing that the language is a dead language, when there's 2 countries that speak the language? And plenty of students registering for it?....This boggles my mind. Yet BYU-I did just this with German. And it's killing me time-wise for graduation.
But as for happiness: if the professor ever DOES get back to me, and tell me that I can take those 2 classes, I will be back on track to graduate next Fall (2010). Yay....
-
German a dead language??? I'd like to see that citation. (It's spoken in far more than 2 countries, even.)
-
I don't have a citation for it. All I know is that that was what someone in administration told the professor who teaches the language when he asked what was going on. They never consulted him at all in the process, and by the time he found out, he couldn't do anything about it. And they wouldn't tell him who had started it to begin with. They just told him to back off because it was happening whether he wanted it to or not.
He told us about it last fall. He'd been under the impression that it was just the lower levels, and that at least RM's would be able to jump into the program at the 201 stage, but no. They phased that out over this past summer, and now I'm stuck without having taken 201....
But yeah....That's my biggest irritation right now. Not that it belongs in this thread....
-
Class started two weeks ago for me. This week I tested out of two of my classes, leaving me with only three to attend. Awesome.
My brother's car broke, so he's going to be using one of the bikes in my stable to get to college. This is good because I've been trying to get him to go mountain biking with me for ages.
Just two weeks of biking five miles each way to and from school on hilly terrain does amazing things for a person's physical fitness. Especially when you're on a 166.66% gain singlespeed.
I built a new computer today. It went off without a hitch, which never happens. Well, Korean font support isn't working, but that's a simple fix....
-
Finally got an hour to start Aquaria: Sacrifice (http://www.moddb.com/mods/sacrifice). I love it when someone puts so much effort into a mod for a game, especially when that game is Aquaria.
-
I'm going to a concert tonight! It's in Rexburg and the band is We Shot the Moon. They're a super fantastic indie alt rock band. I'm really excited.
-
Chaos has been officially impeached...but will the charges stick?
-
I'm completely hyped up from that concert. I bought a hoodie, and had two of the band members sign it. And got pictures with them both....I would've gotten the rest too, but they weren't to be found. Lots of videos too...Ah. It was so much fun. They're such huge fans of Rexburg (it's their favorite place to play) that they're even coming back again this semsester. In November. I am so going to that one as well.
And Chaos has been impeached? Wow....That's unexpected.
-
Not to be a spoilsport, but every band at every concert I've ever been to has said how much they love the town and love playing there. Now, it's possible that Denver is just great, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around what's so great about the Muse Music in Provo. My money says they're just building goodwill with the fans...
-
Oh, I understand that, but I don't think it's the case with this band. I watched an interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5RvPLpz7Bs) that they did (I think they're the ones who filmed it too), and every one of them said Rexburg was their favorite place to play....which I thought was odd, yet very cool at the same time. Now after being at the concert, I'm not surprised.
-
Dr Pepper: still awesome.
-
Still awesome? When was Dr. Pepper ever awesome?
Coke all the way!!!
-
Know what? Mondays aren't all bad. For example, it means new comics from the many thrice-a-week-ers out there, so that's nice.
-
You get your comics on Monday? Lucky.
-
Still awesome? When was Dr. Pepper ever awesome?
Coke all the way!!!
Ever since my body has an immediate physical response to Dr Pepper being in my mouth, that's when it was awesome.
I'm like a druggee.
(Okay, I tried to spell "druggee" three times, and I have no idea on how to spell it. I'll pray to Dr Pepper that He will sort it out.)
-
I agree, Dr. Pepper is muchly much better than Coke. And failing that, even Pepsi is better. Coke is pretty much just a failure at being a carbonated beverage.
-
I don't mind Coke or Pepsi, but I would always rather have Dr Pepper. You like the DP, Andrew? In that case, you are, by definition, awesome.
-
Chaos: Druggie. Though if you're being drugged by a drugger you could possibly be called a druggee.
Just 500 words to write before 6:00 tomorrow morning and 2000 to revise before 4:00 tomorrow afternoon! Yes, that's happy. It's less than I started with.
Ooh! Ooh! Tomorrow I might have new computer parts to distract me from schoolwork on!
-
I got my computer back after a week of it being at the computer help desk at the school. The reformat worked wonders, and even though I have to reinstall firefox, office, and so many other things, I don't care. I love my computer now. It's perfect....
I'm giddy with excitement at having a computer that's not infected with anything...
-
Moved past the fever/chilling and cold-ish parts of swine flu! Yey!
On the not so happy side, I spent two hours this morning kneeling (and giving offerings) to the porcelain god. Though I'm still not really sure why we use that phrase. I mean seriously, what god would want those offerings? But I digress.
Anyway, since Coke is the only thing allowing me to keep anything down right now, my respect for it has increased dramatically. That being said, I'll start hating it again shortly after recovering from this. Even with me being sick, Dr. Pepper still is better. I just can't drink it right now.....
-
Andrew b/c you hate Coke you will, most embarasingly, drown while drinking some cheap imitation like Pepsi. Such is the wrath of Coke. :P
-
Coke is not being wrathful right now. In fact, it seems quite forgiving, as it knows I hate it, and yet is continuing to provide support for my ailing stomach. How kind of it.
-
Dr Pepper will heal you.
Fun fact: they removed that period from "Dr." to avoid all medical connotations of the product. So it might not be a great idea to take my advice.
-
Well since my stomach is now feeling much better, I just might give it a shot...
-
I drank Dr Pepper for nausea in all of my pregnancies. I can't stand Coke and it works for me. I just have to be careful to keep from getting addicted. That headache when you can't take any real drugs is a killer.
And I know it is not the most nutritious thing, but sometimes you'll take whatever calories will stay down.
-
...Like... Earlier today?
Hmm. I'll have to try Dr Pepper next time. I do like it muchly much more than coke.
Kaz, you should be proud of me. I drank a full 2 liters of coke today.
-
Vicious blasphemers!!!!
@ Andrew Coke is trying to forgive you....he's patient...and he is slowly seducing you yay!!!!
-

The headache from the pregnancy, or from the Dr Pepper? If it's from the Dr Pepper, I've found water makes the headache go away. Shockingly quick, too.
-
@Kaz - Slowly? I don't think that me not drinking any coke for well over 5 year, then drinking more than 2 liters in a day qualifies as slowly. That being said, with my stomach feeling better, I no longer have any need for coke, and will dispose of him accordingly.
One more day of swine flu sadness before my life is normal again! (You wouldn't think I'd be looking forward to going to school tomorrow so much, but I've been really bored the last 2 days)
-
Headache from feeling guilty about drinking Dr Pepper everyday and trying to quit. The amount I drink tends to fluctuate in relation to how recently I've seen the doctor.
-
Cheers to the Math Lab they rock!!!
-
I got a 93 on my Differential Equations exam. Since the high score was a 97 and the mean was around 68, I'm feeling great.
Performed the first real assignment in acting class: a monologue. I had selected a villainous monologue from Goldeneye. It went exceptional.
An opinion letter I sent to the Bozeman Chronicle was published today, and my old Texts and Critics seminar teacher actually sent me an email praising it. That also felt good.
Despite the fact that I woke up at 4am for my desk shift, today has been awesome. The desk shift gave me time to finish up my fifth draft of my Writers of the Future submission. I managed to shave another 1k off of a 4k submission, putting it to 3100 words. That's shorter than draft one, which was so radically different. I am quite happy, but then again I probably screwed it up somewhere in a major way.
Either way, got lots accomplished.
Oh! I didn't have physics lab either. That was another highlight.
-
Congrats!!! I got my test grade back for my humanities and genetics classes... B+ on humanities and A- on genetics.
-
Just hearing about your day lifted my spirits a bit. Weird but true.
And then, just to cap it off, I went and tore your story apart. ;D ;)
-

Lucky! We aren't allowed non-stage monologues in my college's acting classes. Kinda weird when you consider the fact that the school offers hybrid film/drama degrees.
Umm... Getting chummy with some peeps in my English class after only a month. Not bad for a shy dude. Also, one of the girls in class shares a name with my cousin and looks like her too. That's kinda cool, I guess.
-

;D
No, that was a great critique. You picked out things that five other people didn't, so that's perfect.
And after meeting with this many people and my old T&C teacher, I know exactly what little things I can do to enhance it.

It probably has less to do with your college being weird and more to do with my acting teacher being amazing. The prof really makes all the difference.

I just semi-hacked one of my friend's facebook accounts and changed a whole slew of information on her profile. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but I'd forgotten her password. She gave me all of her information a couple months ago, so I could log into her account to check something out. And she never changed anything, so I can still get in there. Hence it's kind of her own fault she just got hacked.
Anyway, she's going to know it was me the second she sees the changes, and some of them are very noticeable. Like the fact that she is now 'widowed' instead of 'single'....But oh well. Hacking accounts is fun, even if the hacking isn't necessarily hacking.
Ah. I am now content...
-
Ah. I am now content...
I turned into content a while back. It's good times, but I miss my physical form on the weekends.
All of my family in American Samoa survived the (first) quake/tsunami. I'm going to have to assume that no news is good news on the second quake.
-
A- on the Business & Public Law Exam!!!
-
I'm going home tomorrow! And I'll be eating gooey, delicious cinnamon rolls on Sunday morning. It's a tradition my family has for General Conference. A delicious tradition that I love. :)
-
I got a second date with the chick that i thought i blew my chance with!!!!
-
Got a 92% on the midterm that I was worried about. Which is awesome, but would be more awesome if I hadn't lost the remaining 8% to bone-headed mistakes. ::)
Still, it was nice. Especially since I didn't get in all the studying I wanted to, what with being sick all weekend ::)
-
I have school off today and tomorrow, and don't have to do homework over the weekend. Yey!
-
Marriage = happiness.
Also, I like swords.
-
My Grandmother had a sign that read as follows; Happiness is being married to your best-friend.
Being married to someone you don't like sounds like hell to me.....
-
Ichiban Sushi for father-in-law's birthday tonight. Pretty fantastic.
-
I skipped second hour today and went home and slept! And got on twg, but that doesn't count as being productive, right?
Also, Emotion Bowl Tonight!!!!!!!
[super long explanation]
For those of you (the majority) who don't live in Idaho Falls, Emotion Bowl is the annual football game between my school, Skyline, and our rival, Idaho Falls. We share a stadium, and the winner of the game gets to paint the goalposts their school color. Our rivalry actually ranks in the top 10 high school rivalries in the nation, according to 2 or 3 separate companies who survey such things (I really don't know who, I just remember hearing the statistic. I do, however, remember that said companies are not based in Idaho). As a result, there's a lot of pranks and such leading up to the game. For instance, a few days ago a couple of stupid IF kids spray painted several cars in the Skyline parking lot, including mine (I'm not bitter at all....). One year, a couple of Skyline kids got some dead cats and hung them up over at IF, in the halls and on their marquee (IF's mascot is a tiger). A few years ago, someone actually brought a live tiger to the game and was getting it to rip up teddy bears (Skyline's mascot is the grizzly). The list goes on and on. Anyway, point is, I have classes at IF, so there are some pretty high stakes on this game for me. I'll spend the next month hearing about how Skyline lost if we do lose, and I get to spend the next month bragging if we win. Oh, and since the stadium is actually at IF, they have to deal with having blue goalposts all year round. Which is awesome.
[/ super long explanation]
-
Explain Highschool pride to me....i never had it partailly b/c i didn't chose which school I attended (though admittedly i did have pride in being a band member of the Best Music Program 2004, w/o an orchestra which demonstrates how good our choir and band were) Now that i'm in college though GO COMETS!!!!!
P.S. why does a comet-mascot look like a messed up super sayon?
-
It's not really school pride in my instance, though I imagine it is for some people. For me, it's more about the taunting that goes on between the schools. The pranks are fun to hear about to, but making fun of the other school is what's really fun.
For instance, today, I walked into my English class, which is at IF. I'm wearing solid blue. The entire rest of the class is wearing orange and black. As I walk in, they all boo, at which point, I begin to laugh. We went through most of class (while we were supposed to be watching King Lear) going back and forth about who was going to win the game. We're not really that serious about it. I could care less about who wins the game. I don't watch football normally, and I don't really enjoy it when I do. However, Emotion Bowl I enjoy because everyone around me is so insanely energetic, it's impossible not to be. The only reason it matters to me about who wins the game is because next Monday, when I get back, whichever side won gets to fling all the insults we were flinging around today into the other side's face, and the other side just has to sit there and take it. It's actually not that bad to be on the receiving end either. It's just fun to insult each other.
So really, I think a lot of what is labeled as school pride isn't. Most of the people I know don't really care how many times Skyline has won the Emotion Bowl, or even how good of a school it is academically. We just care that we win now so that we can brag later.
That said, there have been some really great Emotion Bowl games in the past. The insane hype tends to push both teams to play really well. I remember 2004 in particular. We were down by 5 points, and with 1 second left in the game, the quarterback threw a 48-yard Hail Mary pass. The guy who it was supposed to go to had 3 guys trying to block him or intercept the ball within five feet of him, and he still caught it (though he broke his arm doing so). Probably the coolest moment of the entire game was when the quarterback actually threw the ball. The entire stadium went dead silent for about 3 seconds, then when the guy caught it, it was like this amazingly gigantic explosion of sound everywhere. It was also pretty awesome to look over at the IF stands, where they'd been preparing to rush the field to repaint the goal posts. They were all just kind of standing there, looking like they'd been pole-axed. Thinking back, I really can't blame them, considering pretty much everyone there thought that they had it in the bag.
But Emotion Bowl can be very exciting, even if you don't care at all about your school. And when you throw in the insults.... it's just fun all around.
-
Homecoming's this weekend, but it's snowing in Bozeman. A lot.
Also, it's pay day, and I did really well on a Matrix Theory exam. Kicked butt.
-
I learned an easy way to bake bread. Yummy!
-
I forgot to post this Sunday.... i sold a massage chair!!! (commission sucks at .333% but $100.00 bucks is better than a sharp stick in the eye) in addition a cute girl at school responded favorably to my flirting always a good thing
-
...a cute girl at school responded favorably to my flirting always a good thing
Don't you know that looking and pining is all that you're allowed to do? What will the rest of us dudes do now? We are ruined! RUINED! RUNED! RUNNED!
I can now positively say without any doubt that the quality of your biking shoes and pedals matters. I was using my commuter set (some mid-low range Scott shoes and Time pedals) when one of the screws on the Scott's cleats broke, forcing me to move my racing set (waaaaay too expensive Diadora shoes and Speedplay pedals - wish I had that money now...) over. When I got on the bike, I immediately noticed the difference in efficiency. I took the ride in to school easy, as I had some extra time, and got there faster than I ever had on this bike. Sweet awesome.
Oh, and ladies were coming out of the woodwork to complement me on my shoes. Because (http://www.cv2.it/images/articoli/teamracercarbon.jpg) they're (http://www.diadoraextra.net/webapp.diadoraextra.net/webapp.prodotti/_img_depot/foto_variante_997_it.jpg) sexy (http://www.cannondale-nakameguro.com/web/PIX/1148116267_team_mtb_blk.jpg). I dress conservatively (kinda), but I have a weakness for fancy shoes. Also: Shopping. Don't tell the other dudes.
Other stuff:
- I'm a Storm Leader
"Slavemaster Edition". - I'm on mid-semester break as of midnight tonight.
- As the wise #323(2006) once said, "Never, ever, again... Run in a fairly straight, possible vehicle accessible path!!."
Signing out like people who don't use the internet much and those who write letters on occasion (but more verbosely),

By conservative dress do you mean t-shirts or shirts that lack decals and names....i wear collared shirts with-out hollister or some other over-priced name smeared across it... and no that doesn't mean i shop at target or walmart i go to Old Navy!
-
By conservative dress do you mean t-shirts or shirts that lack decals and names....
Slacks and dark, subdued, uniform-colored dress shirts are standard for me. I own a few more fashion dress and polo shirts that have interesting designs, but none of my clothing has a visible name, yes.
I don't know if this should go in the happiness thread or the grumpiness one, but I had a dream that included a particular girl. It was pleasant as far as dreams go, but this does not bode well. It seems that when I dream about someone by name, something dramatic happens to our relationship. Then again, I don't recall her name ever being said or thought....
-
I had a dream where i was stupid enough to marry at age 18 (now) my "wife's" name was never said she wouldn't let me give-up what you are supposed to on your wedding night (traditionaly speaking) so i spent the next 3 days trying to get my wife in bed...i'm about to succeed and i woke up... happy/grumpy both (i was happy but frustrated in the dream)
P.S. this was last month

So, after having spent hours puzzling over the occurance of a word in my translation project which I didn't know how to interpret, I finally stumbled across what I consider to be a very likely meaning for it, which fits from a linguistic point of view. This is very good.

So I got an e-mail from the school last night about my financial information being changed. I was slightly confused about why it would change halfway through the semester, but I clicked the link, and lo and behold, I have a $300 scholarship from the school waiting for me! I stared at it for a bit, surprised, and then thought "How?"
Not that I'm complaining. I need that money; I'm just curious how I got a scholarship....Very happy right now, even if I've got a Geology test today that I'm going bomb. I have money! Yay! Now I can go buy the food that I desperately need since I have nothing. Literally. Food is good. Money is better.
-
Unless you are on a deserted island...you can't use your money then... :(
Great news! I have a hot date to go with me to the homecoming ball Oct. 31. (homecoming for us is soccer since we have no football team but hey that makes us undefeated every year :P) now i have to find some creature i can be yet still dress classy... im thinking a ghoul.
-
Finished with the crazy amount of homework that the profs piled on for the weekend. Took the Bio test, and I think I got at least an 80, so that's good.
My mind is numb, which I think is good at this point.
-
My family is annoyed at me for my 2 B's and being in the top quarter (i think i may be just outside it) they say i should be on the Dean's list...
I have decided to go as Hugh Hefner unless that offends my date then i will go as Frank Sinatra's ghost

Windows 7 arrived. It looks wonderful on my monitor.

I got my Calculus test back today. At the top, there was a great big 75 circled. Now granted, this is not a great score, but when you consider that I'd previously been informed my score was below 56%, that's good. Turns out, the teacher made a mistake, and as a result, there was 1 A, 1 B, 3 Cs, 15Ds, and 13 Fs between both classes. The high score was a 94% rather than a 56 as we at first thought. And of course, the problems that I did miss were really stupid mistakes. I got all the hard ones perfect and missed the easy ones due to sloppy algebra. Oh well, life goes on. Plus there's always retakes if this kills my grade too bad.
But 75! That's a simultaneos "Ouch, that kills my 96% in the class," and "YEY! I DIDN'T FAIL!!!!" (Capitalized because I really was feeling like shouting at this point. I almost did. Then I decided that probably wasn't a good plan)

Three things:
1. There's this place called The Haunted Mill here in eastern Idaho, and I've never been to it. But I really want to go, and I think my roommate and I may go tomorrow. Or Thursday. And I'm really excited. Because I want to see what it's like. Although I'm not normally a big fan of being scared, so I'm probably going to scream a lot...
2. This past summer, there was a group of girls in my apartment complex that started up a prank-fest with a group of guys in the guys apartments nearby. The police eventually had to intervene to stop them....I was talking to the girls yesterday, with a few other girls, and they're thinking about starting up the prank-fest again. And I can help. Pranking is so much fun.
3. I'm going home on Friday! And my sisters are going to use their awesome skills from their stage makeup class to turn me into something. I wanted to have an eyeball hanging out of my head, but my sister thinks I won't want that on my face all night. So maybe I'll just be a battered woman....or something.
-
The Haunted Mill isn't really that scary, wilson. The real fun is in going with people who are really easily scared. That way, instead of being scared yourself (which doesn't really work for me with the Haunted Mill), you get to laugh at all the people who are scared and how they react.
-
Yeah...um....I'm in the category of the people who get scared really easily. I hate scary movies. Seriously. You know the movie The Haunting? That movie freaked me out. I had to cover my eyes for half of it. That's how I am with scary movies. I spend the majority of the movie with my hands up by my face, to plug my ears and shut my eyes when something happens. Plug my ears because the music and other sounds tend to be almost as bad as the visual image itself....Hence, I try not to watch scary movies.
I expect the Mill will scare me sufficiently and I'll hate it while I'm going through it and then afterwards, I'll think it's all really cool and will want to go back next year. Probably....

AKPsi Party tonight!!!! woot for irresponisable future bussiness men drunk as skunks!!!!

I'm now working part-time as a professional tutor, making a higher hourly wage than I ever have before. I love my work and how well it pays.
-
This will blow your mind.
In order for any piece of computer hardware to work, they have to have power! Shocking, I know, but I spent an hour learning this lesson.
-
That was probably fun....
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER!!!????!?!?!?!?!?!"
"Hey look, it's unplugged!"
"What?! Oh.......[insert frustrated sigh of sudden comprehension here]"

Brandon Sanderson said to me, "This is the best gift yet. I was totally excited about Magic Cards, but this is way better."
I just one-upped y'all. 'Sup.
Being a Storm Leader was taxing, but soooooo worth it. We had a full 90 minutes to play with Brandon before the event, which was fully awesome. Bela killed Asmodean. He told us. Also, Gawyn has a big part in the next book, as do Mat, Perrin, and... some other guy. I can't remember. Watch the Q&A and stuff on ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-gathering-storm-las-vegas). Don't watch anything after Brandon leaves. I'm boring. I'm the scrawny guy with long hair, IYWTK. Brandon is the quizzer, Mike's the guy who could throw me fifty yards, Kim is the short one, and Tranylle is the blonde girl. My brother is the one who is responsible for most of the camera flashes.

It irks me that I can't watch that feed, for fear of spoilers for books 9-11, which came out after I decided to ignore the series until it was done due to the Stalling of the Plot. (Think of it like the Breaking of the World, but a lot less interesting.)
Incidentally, I'm on book 6 in my reread, right at the beginning of the Stalling. I forgot how slow things actually get, but so far it's been 500 pages of every single plotline mostly just marking time. Sigh. 4.5 books to go until things pick up again...(or so I hear on the intarwebz.)

The entire tour is spoiler-free, so no worries about that. :) EDIT: Oh right. 9-11. :P Uh, Brandon reads from TGS, the spoilers are from about 10:30 to 21:00 (when he reads from the book and talks about that scene).
I have cupcakes, marshmallow cakes, and cookies for lunch!
-
TGS was BAD *** just so everyone knows it is actually better than 2/3 of the other books in the series...

I have one student whose mother things I'm fantastic, and has given me lots of referrals. Lots of referrals means lots of work, and lots of work means less debt!
-
I went shooting tonight. Even though it was really cold, it was still a lot of fun. I only hit one clay pigeon and it was with a pistol, but oh well. I have also learned that I prefer shooting stationary objects when shooting a shotgun more than shooting clay pigeons flying through the air....
-
I have hot dog buns.
-
Yes you do. *creeper eyes*
-
They're tasty. Good snack during writing!
-
I've only shot clay pidgeons and handful of times... my first time i had 33% hit rate and i haven't improved much

I went to a concert on Friday. The band was We Shot the Moon, and they were fantastic. I went with my sisters, and we were in the mosh pit. Literally right next to the stage. Front middle, and the lead singer was pretty much right in front of me, and we made eye contact for a good 10-15 seconds a couple times while he was singing my favorite song by them. So that was great.
I finally got all the band members to sign my jacket that I bought at their last concert. And they all signed a poster....And I got pictures with all of them. I wish I'd got one with all of them together, but alas, I had to get them all separate. Oh well. It was still awesome.
And also, last week on Wednesday (I've been working on a research paper hence why this wasn't posted then), I went to country dancing here at school, and I danced with the guy I like and he said something really nice after the song, and I was pretty much bouncing off the walls for the rest of the night. It was slightly pathetic...And then I saw him the next 3 nights for various reasons, when normally I don't see him at all until Sunday night (generally). So that was even better.....
Yes. I am a dork. A boy-crazy dork, but oh well. :P
-
I had my ultrasound and I am having a boy! Not until the end of March, but I like knowing ahead of time. That will even us out, gender-wise.
-
OMG, congrats! =]
-
The amount of money (nearly $6000) matches the amount of care-package slips I have. This is a wonderful day, as it means I don't have to dig through three hundred checks to find the discrepancy. I am immensely, immensely happy for myself.

Referring to me, EUOL said, "Oh hey, yeah, that's a friend," during his card game. =]
Love the fact he recognizes me even by screen name.

I'm getting more hours at work b/c its Christmas time!

So my roommate and I decided we wanted to prank one of the apartments in the guys complex near us. So we set up everything we were going to do and have been working on it since Saturday. The prank involved TPing their living room and on one of the walls posting "Roses are red, violets are blue...." and then 21 notecards with a different ending. A funny, creative ending. Like "Everyone here belongs in a zoo," "You were raised in a stinky, old, shoe", "You are a chicken and have no clue," and other such things.
Our goal in this prank was to get the guys in the apartment to blame it on two other girls apartments. We figured the guys would think these two other apartments would be more likely to do it. Well, tonight, we did the prank. Pulled it off successfully, and it really couldn't have been better. Except for the fact that I snapped my scotch tape container in the race to get out of the apartment when we thought the guys were back, which they weren't--we were just being paranoid.
Anyway. A couple guys from the apartment came by wanting to know if we had anything to do with it, which of course we said no. They didn't believe us. So when my roommate blew the deal, confirming to them that we had in fact been involved, we made sure to pull one of the other apartments in it as well--blaming the majority of the prank on them. Which the guys believed. We even managed to get the whole fact that all the guys were out of the apartment on the other girls apartment, saying they were the diversion. The guys believed this too. And then when they said they were going to prank them in retaliation, we asked if we could help. And they said yes.
So pretty much, I just pulled off a prank, blamed it on 2 other apartments and now get to help prank those two apartments in retaliation for a prank they didn't pull. Life could not be better for me right now....
-
You sir, are epic.
I mean uhm, *chough* ma'am.
-
You learn so much more at college off campus. ;D
We have seven inches of snow, and it is still coming down. School is cancelled. I live in Moab, it never snows like this here.
-
Got paid today! ...late again, sure, but hey. I got paid. :P
ps, wilson: in regards to prank number 1, you're welcome. ;) In regards to prank number 2, that's awesome.
-
Wilson you are terribly awesome!
-
So. Update on the pranking. They found out my roommate and I did it. Because I told them. Or, rather, I told one of them.
It went down like this: On Wednesday night, I was talking to one of the guys, Chris. He told me he knew the other two apartments, 207 and 302, hadn't been in on it. So instead of pranking them, they were going to prank us and 104, our neighbors. I was confused about the addition of 104, because I barely even know who is in that apartment, and I didn't get why they would be pranked. Chris told me they had confessed to it. I told him they were trying to take credit for a prank they didn't pull, which he didn't believe because I'd just told him I had no real idea who had done it, I was just going off what my roommate had told me....
...I figured the motives for 104 had something to do with a guy in the apartment and them wanting attention and what-not. Since I disliked their motives and the fact that they were not among my initial targets nor did I like them taking credit for my prank, I told him I could tell him exactly who had done it, only I wasn't sure if I should, because I knew it would come back to bite me. He tried to stop me from telling him, telling me to think about it, but I'm like "No. I want to do this. But first, I want immunity." He gave me immunity, and then I told him.
Later that night, I was at 207 and Chris was there. He told them they were lucky I'd spilled the beans, because they (his apartment) were going to get them (207 and 302) with everything they (his apartment) had. Which I was very unhappy about learning, because if I'd known he was still going to prank them (which he had told me they weren't going to), I wouldn't have told him I'd done it. I would've just said 104 had nothing to do with it, but prank them anyway because they apparently wanted to be pranked....But I played it off like it was all okay. I looked at the 207 girls and just said "See? You should be glad I said something!" But in my mind I was cursing my stupidity....So now I don't get to watch any prank war. But at least I don't have to watch my back either, thanks to my immunity....Shame I 'forgot' to get immunity for my roommate too, but whatever. :P
-
tsk tsk.... Wilson this is why you deny everything!!!! Next time, do what my T-shirt says, blame it on the flying monkeys. ::)
-
I would've denied everything except that they knew I was involved more than I was letting on. The night before this, one of the guys , Chad, said something about his card. He's 28 and when I was writing the cards, it was taking me forever to figure out what to write for him. Finally, I got it. "Chad is the smartest if age is IQ," (Remember, this is finishing "roses are red, violets are blue"). Well, that night, he said something about his IQ being higher than the other guys and him being really smart, and I was trying not to laugh, but I couldn't stop myself. So they knew....They just didn't know how involved I was....
And it actually really is probably better that I said something. They were going to put dead animals (I don't know what) in 207's apartment....Dead animals is not funny. Dead animals is a very mean prank, and should never be used in retaliation for a very funny prank....
As for happy things though. I sat on Santa's lap yesterday and took a picture with him and most of my apartment. It was awesome. He gave me a Snickers and it was tasty. Also, I'm done with classes on Thursday, and I'm going home on Friday....Happiness. No more school until April....Although I may visit Rexburg and possibly prank those guy's apartment again simply because they won't be able to get me back until April and it'll just be hilarious to do.
-
This year, I didn't have a single final in the Testing Center.
-
My two math finals today went well. Solid A's in both of those classes.
-
Lucky! I've never gotten an A in a math class. It's the one subject where no amount of effort will ever raise me above a B.
-
Well, I am a math major...
And honestly, that Matrix Theory class was cake. One of the easiest classes I've ever taken.
-
My History final went well yesterday!
-
I discovered today at an eye exam that my vision is a little worse. However, this semi-grumpiness has turned into a good thing. Because I decided I wanted to try contacts for the first time in my life. And now I'm wearing a trial pair....
I have decided that I rather like not having to turn my head to look at things in my peripheral vision (so when I turn my head, they're no longer in my peripheral). Contacts are nice. :)
-
I'm going to go take a shower and get dressed up so I can go to an interview for a promotion.

I'm going to go take a shower and get dressed up so I can go to an interview for a promotion.
interview for a promotion? Never heard of that. Everywhere i've ever worked the boss just like "Hey, jim, you're promoted"
-
Yeah, it's kinda weird, but hey. It's like team leaders said who they thought should get it and then they cut that number in half now are doing interviews to cut that number down. Started at 56 is at 28, I'll know Friday or Monday if I make it to the <14 for the next group and 4 are getting hired.

Well, best of luck, yo!
-
Good luck!
I have cheesecake. And fresh blackberries. (I almost said flesh blackberries. No, really...) This is happy.
-
I like cake.....(pie isn't trustworthy)
I got an A on all but one final >:( so it's good and bad!
-
Our little Martial Arts group is growing, and we're gaining more equipment. I love my steel.
-
What do you mean by steel? Sai, katana, tonfas, kamas, or nunchucks?
-
After Christmas Sales..... i love them. I have bought a brown, a dark grey, a maroon, and a white dress shirt all for half off, then i also got a really nice silver tie! (I recently found out how much your appearance matters & now i wear almost all button downs.... and i have a bunch of Polo's i rarely wear now.... and i love Aramis i use to wear my dads as a kid to church and i got some for Christmas!!!! The change in my appearance has coincided with an increase in hit ons!!!!)
-
What do you mean by steel? Sai, katana, tonfas, kamas, or nunchucks?
None of the above. It's a longsword.
-
So this is western martial arts?
-
Indeed; we've got a small but growing group.
-
Kaz, Jade Knight has posted about it before. Look up historical European martial arts.
-
I'm happy, because as of 3:26 this afternoon I am the proud owner of a 16 mm reel trailer of Slipper and the Rose. I think it is now safe to say I am the ultimate fan.
-
Peter i think I have a vague recollection....
Hapiness... i love my pulse pen from livescribe
-
I'm in a class that will let me use Cocoa for its projects. This makes me happy.
-
This isn't quite happy but it isn't grumpy either. I got my first rejection letter from an agent, but he said he liked my writing, just not the book, and asked me to send him my next book when I finish it.
-
My boss is going in for surgery, and so she needs to train me for her shift. This means not only will I get those training hours, but I'll also be working her shift while she's recuperating. Money is finally coming my way....My bank account will soon be very happy. And I'll be able to upgrade to contacts. Even better.
-
Choir concert this weekend! Whoo-hoo!
-
This is the best Valentine's Day ever.
-
I'm happy that my years worth of contacts came in today. Contacts are so much better than glasses.
-
I have a equal but opposite astigmatism in my eyes, left is 1/4 whatever unit farsighted and the right is 1/4 whatever near sighted... so the dominance switches between the two depending on if it is closer or farther than about 20 feet away. But even with my fading vision I still don't need glasses... and if i go walking for 20 minutes a day the astigmatism shouldn't get any worst for a long time!!!!! Yeah for modern medicine!!!
-
So. I reworked my next two years of schooling, and you know what I realized?
I never have to take labs ever again!
I am ridiculously happy. I despise labs. Though, I suppose I'll need to do that stuff for my undergraduate research. Still, that's not much. The rest of my schedule is easy, easycakes!*
*This is coming from the person who will take classes like Elementary Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Advanced Calculus, and Complex Analysis. I may not be the correct gauge of "easiness". Oh, and I'm also with 15 graduate level credits, too. I might not be sane enough to measure what is "easy".
-
I finished doing our taxes on Saturday. We get refunds from the IRS and from all 3 states (though one of the refunds is like $13).
-
Finished my novel. Took me a year, but I did it.
Now for revisions...
-
It's my birthday! ^_^
I got books! ^___^
And Kimmi (the girlfriend <3 ) sent me a card she made herself ^_____^
*passes out cake to everyone*

I just found out my school accepted my deferment, which means I won't be going back to school next month. Not that I was going to if it was declined, but at least this way I don't have to re-apply for the whole school.

I had a baby! Baby Nathan was born on March 30 at 8 lbs 9 oz. I have not posted much and that trend will continue, but I have to brag.(http://lh4.ggpht.com/_GYl9Z1ONEqE/S7fyRyytg0I/AAAAAAAABHQ/dilaGZIar2E/s400/DSCN0605.JPG)

So my birthday is in two days. And my aunt invited me to come with her to watch Wicked in San Francisco. I'm really excited! I love the music, and from what I've heard, the musical is fantastic. Plus, San Fran is where it originated. So this will be the second musical I've seen in the originating city (the first being Phantom of the Opera).
-
You saw Phantom in London?
-
We got most of our furniture moved into our new house today. The guys from our old ward were very helpful. We had everything on the trucks in an hour and stuff unloaded in less time than that. (Had to disassemble the couch to get it in the door, and remove a hand railing to get the washer & dryer down the stairs, but we had multiple handy people.)
-
Gotta love the way ward members pitch in when someone's moving. Makes the whole process go so much faster.
You saw Phantom in London?
Yes. Last year. It was amazing.
Wicked was phenomenal. I adored it. A lot. We were on the front row, just right of the middle aisle, so extremely close. Close enough to see the spit fly out of the actors' mouths when they got a little too excited in their talking. Or singing....Also, before it, we ate at this really cool place called Frjtz that has Belgian fries. And they were the best fries I've ever had in my life. The sweet crepe I got was pretty delicious too. That place has made it onto the must-go-to list for every time in the future I'm in San Fran.

Celebrating my birthday tomorrow at Dave and Busters!!!!!
Your birthday is on the same day as my girl friend and her sister's. Also, we are going to dave and busters for it. :-|

Woot!!!!
Also i just looked at the mechanics going into play for Guild Wars 2, and even without secondary professions it looks like the coolest MMO ever!!! You can use the environment to attack, i.e. drop boulders on people, combine attacks like a firewall can be expanded in a circle by an ally using cyclone axe, ext. I am a little worried that they are making the world to complex though, you don't want to overload the servers.....

As of 9:54 this morning, I am an aunt. And my niece is freaking adorable. Sure, she has a skull the shape of those on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but oh well. Her face isn't deformed at all, and it is cute. I love her already, and I will spoil her greatly, because that is what aunts do. Sometimes.

AND give lots and lots of kisses. That's, like, part of the aunt job description. Sweet little baby cheeks are impossible to not kiss.

heh, congrats. I've been an uncle for about 2 years, and its pretty great. None of the fuss and muss of child rearing, but all the play time and spoiling you can dream of!
