Thunderbirds movie to have 'James Bond' vibe

Jonathan Frakes says the new film version of Thunderbirds will be a cross between Spy Kids and James Bond.

Frakes, who is best known as Will Ryker is Star Trek: The Next Generation, is to direct the live action version of the classic series.

He says he didn't realise how popular the show was until he got the job.

"What I understand from being in England already is that Thunderbirds is as popular with the English as Star Trek is with Americans," he told www.scifi.com.

"Our version of Thunderbirds will be entirely live-action, with a Spy Kids meets James Bond kind of vibe," he says.

Production will begin in February, with filming taking place in South Africa and London. The film will be released in 2004.

NO PUPPETS

The pupupets were there only reason I watched

I have to agree with Sprig there. The puppets ruled. This is another one of those shows where I'm not entirely sure there was a plot. But then, I was young when I saw them, so....

I haven't seen Spy Kids, but saying anything is a cross between Spy Kids and James Bond kinda weirds me out. I don't think I'm very excited about this one.

Spy Kids was already a cross of James Bond. Crossing it with James Bond again seems very redundant.
