Music / Bo Burnham
« on: March 30, 2009, 11:09:50 PM »
So I've been listening to Bo Burnham for a long time and I randomly wanted to listen to him today because I was bored  and wanted to laugh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obIGsb-IZMo&feature=channel

Is probably one of his funniest songs.

***WARNING:  It contains a lot of ""discriminatory"" content.***

It may seem that way at least.  He really doesn't mean anything he says and he makes fun of everything, including himself so he's not being "discriminatory"  But whatevs.

only watch if you have a sense of humor that incorporates such things.

Books / Naruto Discussion (***Spoilers if you haven't read Manga***)
« on: March 27, 2009, 12:11:04 AM »
So I decided that a discussion topic about the happenings in the Naruto manga would be fun to have here.  Since we are already talking about the anime and it is hard to talk about future happenings without spoilers.

So yeah.  I definitely think they will have the arc, especially with needing to rebuild the village and what-not.  Also, anyone seeing the fact that Tsunade basically screwed herself by using her . . . uhm, forehead thing jutsu (sorry it was only named once like over a hundred chapters ago so I forget what it was called) and that basically takes everything out of her.  I think that after this section she will relinquish the title of Hokage and Naruto will get it in the time-jump.

Everything Else / I seriously hate my major . . .
« on: March 26, 2009, 09:16:18 AM »
OK.  So I mainly went into my major (Software Engineering) because everyone I know said that there is no way I'd get anywhere with creative writing / philosophy / performing arts / linguistics.  Which are the things that I absolutely love.  I haven't been able to sleep for the last month and every night I get to thinking about this.

I REALLY want to say to heck with SE and just finish off this semester and start applying for schools where I can start majoring in creative writing and minoring in either philosophy or linguistics.  I also need to go to a college that is . . . well not so close to home.  Family is a huge distraction for me because of all their petty drama.

Anyway.  I just wanted to kind of vent and get that off my mind.  Anyone know any good schools that fit my criteria?  I was kind of thinking BYU - Provo, because I know people that go there, but then I'm not sure if you have to be Mormon or not.  :\  In any case.  Thanks for listening.

EDIT: I've also noted that I try to start a lot of projects that have to do with either my current major (but not school related, just me related) and the things I love to do and I always end up half way with everything and get all screwed up because I can't do the things I want and the stuff I'm supposed to do for school. . . there just isn't enough time in the day when they are completely different things.

EDIT AGAIN:  Wow, in all of my emotional melt-down I totally forgot to make the main point I was trying with this and that is.  I don't care if the chances of making it are slim.  I never want to think "What if I had just made the decision I wanted instead of what someone else wanted."

PS: There really need to be a capital capital I . . . .anyone else ever have that feeling?

Brandon Sanderson / A Mistborn by GraphicAudio?
« on: March 26, 2009, 05:57:44 AM »
So I was just surfing through Brandon's blog, I was a bit behind, and I came across him talking about an Elantris reading done by GraphicsAudio.  It is more like a radio show than a reading of the book.  I listened to the preview and it sounded amazing!

I think that I will buy it soon so that I can listen to the entire thing.  I also think that something like this for Mistborn would be really well received and a fun thing to listen to.  Any other opinions?

(You can hear a preview of Elantris in the link.)

EDIT: I also found the "part 1" writing on the box quite intriguing.  I mean, it is 7 hours long.  Shouldn't that be enough for all of Elantris?  Maybe this is more (accidental) verification of another Elantris book.   ;D

Books / My readthrough of WoT (**Spoilers**)
« on: March 26, 2009, 05:02:46 AM »
OK.  SO I just picked up The Eye of the World and I read through the prologue.  I don't know what I wasn't catching last time I tried to read it.  (I was a LOT younger . .  maybe 7th grade last time I tried really hard.)  I already want to know what the series is about and it really caught me and pulled me in.  So anyway.  I thought I would start posting on here and give my opinions on sections of the books and ask questions when I hit things that I don't understand.  The prologue is full of so many things that are completely new to me and unique to the series that I'm hoping those all get filled in later on in the book/series.  In any case.  I'll post again in a few chapters or so.

If I had a Smedry talent it would be to lose things.  I have once again lost my jump drive. >>

I am not sure how I do it so often. ha ha.

Anyway, I'll find it in the next few days and get posted.

xD

In the mean time I will try to get some other stuff read.

Brandon Sanderson / Hum Drum Sad Pandaness
« on: February 23, 2009, 06:51:53 AM »
Ok, before you continue reading know that I AM glad that EUOL is getting more attention and becoming a more popular author, BUT:

I am sad with the Sanderson forums being over-run with WoT topics.  These are the reasons, numbered by importance to me.

1. (There's a tie for first.) The people.  I miss all of the old chatters.  I know at least some of them are still around, they have just all gone in hiding (some have stopped showing up) due to the lack of other topics and the large amount of WoT topics.)  I just miss their company.

1. I miss all the theory threads. (Yes, I realize I could write them, I'm just too lazy ATM and I don't feel they would get discussed too thoroughly.)

2. The lack of the WoT threads actually being theory threads.  This new group is a totally different species of forum goers.  They just talk about what HAS happened and other things that relate to WoT (i.e. games) and none of it is argumentative debate.

3. Waiting.  I know that eventually everything will get back to the way that it was, but I hate waiting for it. :/

Now that I am done ranting I think I might find some time to write up a Theory Thread the next Alcatraz book. . . I may have to skim through the other again, or reread them first though.

Anyway.  Thoughts?

What's this? / Something new
« on: February 20, 2009, 11:03:24 PM »
So I've decided that we really need to get some kind of RP going on here.

So we should get a list of people that want to join and would participate and revive one of the old Alternate Realities.

Reading Excuses / 2-15-09 Realm Walker, Prologue, Chapter 1
« on: February 16, 2009, 04:50:29 AM »
Please be harsh, don't be afraid to say something, even if it seems rude or insensitive.  That is usually the best type of criticism and most helpful.

Thanks everyone.

I will also be posting the next draft of these sections in a Live Journal account.  I will link to that once I have this section done.
