"Magic is what makes fantasy fantastic," someone says, "you can't apply rules to them or else it loses wonder!" I respond, "Sure, but if you want to write them you will certainly want to know how they work." Writing is all about execution, and I find applying some basic laws of physics to magic systems make them more understandable and realistic. Here, I'm going to outline my basic method for developing a magic system.

I have a really good memory of food and smells in general. Some people, like Archon, find this sad. Guess I just kind of moonlight as a notorious glutton. I would probably make a great cook if I had any attention span at all.

Some of you might have seen this, but it still remains as the single catchiest thing I have ever seen. It completely killed the last few paragraphs of an essay I was writing for AP European History when it started playing in my head.

Actually, I figured out the secret behind the Banshee. The only way to get it to move fast is using the burst, otherwise it goes at a slow speed so you can aim better while strafing. You can't keep it hovering in the same spot, but if you angle it forward it won't start going down. It still isn't what I imagined they could make it though.

Gorgon and I had a school day like this. Memorable costumes were Gorgon as God, with a Burger King crown and a toga, as well as three jocks who dressed up as three members of Kiss. My AP European History teacher was decked out in full Scottish noble dress, since we were learning about James I of England.

There is something about the entire Electoral College idea that just bugs me. I wonder how much opposition there would be to actually giving voters the true ability to elect their leaders.
