Everything Else / Re: vector graphics

The only way I know how is to trace the original with paths in Illustrator.  The newest version of Illustrator has an autotrace path command that will take a line drawing and do its best to fit it with vector paths.  How complicated is the image?

Brandon Sanderson / Re: MISTBORN Cover Art

I think someone may have pointed this out already--and correct me if I'm wrong--but all priests in the Steel Ministry have tattoos of some sort.  The ones on the cover must not be Inquisitors.

Either way, the cover's cool enough that I would definitely pick up the book if I hadn't heard anything about it.

I like the color scheme a lot -- it follows the feel of the book.  The font, on the other hand, evokes merry prancing men in tights -- which is something I didn't get from Mistborn.  My guess is that it was a marketing decision -- probably the same reason for the removal of the spikes.  (I put an em dash in every one of the last three sentences -- Wow.)

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Story Idea of the Day
« on: November 18, 2005, 08:34:13 PM »
I've been checking out the site more often since EUOL's been posting the story idea of the day.  Ideas are cheap.  I think any two professional writers could take the same idea and come up with their own original takes on it, and both stories would sell.  So, there's no need to fear "infringement."

I agree with Entropy that an occassional inside peak of how EUOL would turn a certain idea into a story would be pretty cool.

I don't comment much, but this article was definitely comment-worthy . . . even though I'm not a girl (unless the king has been lying to me). :-/

Keep the articles coming!

The Larp Lizard--I like the alliteration.  Too bad QD was better.  :(

I can empathize with you, Tage.

I'd go if I didn't have to work all weekend.  I'm sure my Mom would like to see me (well, maybe my Dad would, too).  If you end up in IF and ever need a mom to dote on you, visit mine.  She's great.  Half my friends call her "mom."

One thing Chimera didn't mention is that Lost is like the Ring.  Once you start watching it, you disappear.  (If only the rescuers had searched in the TV room!  Of all places.)

I actually didn't add the captions intentionally.  My thoughts just appeared on the screen as I looked at the pictures.  I have that problem when I'm online.  I must have a wireless brain.

We should watch Lost in Spanish on Tuesday.  Anybody up for it?

Nice pictures, Stacer.  I especially like the one with me looking very . . . um . . . dead in your rocking chair.  When was THAT taken?

If you could read minds, the whole spoiler issue would be moot.  What a sad, pitiful existence that would be. :-/

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Favorite Character in Elantris

***Caution--spoilers below!!***

My favorite character in Elantris was Polgara, followed by Garrion.  When the Elantrians finally realize who she is (tall blonde with streak of black hair) I actually had to set the book down because I was weeping so much. :'(

I second Tage on the "too freaking cold."  Move to Mexico.
