If you're buying the DVDs, I'll at least show up for the first night you watch them.

Interesting that they are releasing the DVD before the show even airs. Despite all their predictions that it won't hurt the TV release, it will be interesting to see if that's true.

Meh. All the really loyal Dr. Who fans downloaded the episodes as they aired and watched them all already. ;D

I think they might also be banking that if people see the show as it airs they might think 'hey, thats a cool show, i'll grab the DVDs so I can see what the backstory is'. A lot of shows (especially story heavy ones) have trouble picking up viewers mid-season since people think they can't work out whats going on. DVD's would help that... but Dr Who didn't strike me as very, y'know, story-arc heavy.

Which is a good idea, in theory. However, I personally think the $99 MSRP will put a damper on impulse purchases.
