But you'd be able to play D&D in your lunchhour! :P
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

But you'll have to play the cleric, because you're the new guy.

that's ok, I'd play an evil cleric, but hide my alignment. And when they came to me for healing, I'd cast cause critical wounds. When they whined about it, I'd tell them that's what they get for making me be something specific.

So I started a character yesterday for our Friday afternoon gaming session (which the dept. does every Friday afternoon, except sadly, it will be going on hiatus until summer hours are over). I will be a monk. The girls in the group (there are actually several more girls than guys) were really good at helping me figure out what I needed to do. Made me realize why I'd never tried it before: it's complicated!

If it weren't complicated then it wouldn't be the game of intellectuals a.k.a geeks.
The Folly of youth is to think that intelligence is a subsitute for experience. The folly of age is to think that experience is a subsitute for intelligence.

We have to feel like we're superior. Making our hobby inaccessible does that for us.

It's only complicated until you've been through it once or twice. Then you can do it pretty much by memory.

D&D is also one of the more complicated systems. I've played a fair number and most are a lot simpler. Though we played Living Steel once, god that was stupid. You actually had those charts with action points and a number of action points a turn... felt like I was playing Xcom.
