Just watching the premiere. I see elves and goblins and an early renaissance world. IS this a Mistborne rip-off? I've never read Mistborne but "blood steel" sounds derivative. Good cast and seems to be a step up from the usual creature feature crap that Sci-Fi has devolved into.

Elves and goblins? Doesn't sound like Mistborn to me...
Brandon did write "Dragonsteel", though, and the name reminds me of that.
-
No elves or goblins in Dragonsteel either.

Jerick used to be an elf when Brandon was 14.

And thus I have been proven wrong once again. ha ha. I used a very similar argument about naming my puppy Vin. My friend was like, but Vin is a girl. I said, "But used to be a he. :]" ROFL.

Like I said I haven't read mistborn, but the use of a metal to fuel sorcery seems derivative. Also I was of the impression from spoilers that Mistborn had an early renaissance setting. The Elves and goblins are a bit odd. They drive it more D&D direction.
Canada is notorious for really dropping the ball midway on a SciFi or fantasy story so I hope they surprise me. It feels like a Canadian production. I'm thinking of "Lost world" and "The Sword of Truth". When the time comes to get serious with the drama, CBC goes cartoon cheesy every time. When the viewer is looking for "Battlestar Galactica" they get "Rocky and Bullwinkle".

"The Sword of Truth"
lol. so terribad. even the books weren't as bad as the show.

Wow! Quick end. Just two episodes. Weak ending. Speech impaired. :P
