Oh yes, that.

Of course you have permission. If you wish to have a name, use Slichen, as that is my deviant art account name - and my deviant art page is perhaps the closest thing I had to a website.

Hey Brandon, it's me again! Here is a digital copy of that bookmark:

Super huge large version here

It was really really great to meet you in person! I heard some very interesting tidbits about writing and for that I thank you. I'd never been to a book signing before, so I was unsure of what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how relaxed everything was; I had a great time talking with you.

Hopefully I'll see you again in February!

Oh yes, I remember seeing that too and getting extremely confused for a good ten minutes. It was such a brief comment in the book that I had to reread the page a few times.

I rarely find any mistakes in books, other than the occasional grammar or spelling, but that's just bound to always happen. I think I may remember finding one or two things like that in all of Brandon's books, but none of them really have me worried.

I bet he's just trying to trip us up! To see if we were falling asleep, perhaps? ;)

Oh, thank you, thank you!

I'm always a little nervous when presenting fanart. I'm glad that you like it.

I'd be ecstatic if you posted them on your new site. And be assured there is more fanart a-coming!

Hurrah, another picture of Vin! This one is a bit more accurate in my opinion and is done in my more sketchy style. I am intending to color this later. Enjoy!

I tried to make the file smaller and I apologize if it slows down your computer at all!

Hehe, it mostly takes practice. I've had a tablet for over six years, and I still don't have it right!

For coloring, I mostly use this coloring tutorial, done by a good friend of mine. It's extremely helpful.

What tablet and program to you use, if I may ask?

Thank you very much for the comment! I'm actually trying to pull away from doing chibi characters like this, but they're just so darn cute I guess I can't help it.

And by the way, it was you who made me want to do some Mistborn fanart. I really liked your sketches :)

Hello hello :)

I've been wanting to do some Mistborn fanart for a while, and finally today I was able to do a bit. This was initially just going to be a concept sketch, and then kind of exploded on to my computer and well...here we are! I colored it (quickly, mind you) and thought to put it up here. The style is a bit anime, and not so slightly chibi (for those of you who do not know, chibi is basically referring to the proportions I did; big head and all that).

I was a little dissatisfied with how her outfit turned out; I didn't feel like I quite captured Vin, and for that I'm really sorry. Oh well - there's always next time! If you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to post input. I really appreciate feedback. If you wish, you can check out my DeviantArt account at this link!

Also, to Mr. Sanderson - this picture was part of a bigger project that I am trying to put together; if you don't really like the style let me know. This was just what I felt like drawing at the time.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Also, I am aware how child-like she looks. It's just part of my style that's hard to break out of  :'(

I agree with what has been already said. Don't be ashamed of reading fantasy! I regularly lug around my enormous sci/fi and fantasy books with me on my school campus, and I've actually have had several people ask about the books I'm reading who are interested in them. I've already recruited a few to the Sanderson regime. Huzzah! ;)

Gaaah, I see a book signing near my location. I AM SO THERE!  ;D

I'm really interested in entering this sometime soon, but I can't seem to buckle down and finish one short story. Also my workload is crippling. After this quarter, which ends...Sept 30, right? When does the next quarter end?

Also yes, ALL HAIL BRANDON.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Query letter question
« on: September 05, 2007, 03:59:06 PM »
And I am curious, how many other writers visit this board and try and catch some of Brandon's author germs.  ;D  And how many of you are just fans?

I'm both a fan of Brandon and a writer myself. Unfortunately on the forums I tend to mostly be a lurker, though--but I barely have time to check the forums at all. :(  I've found a lot of the questions and discussions extremely helpful though, especially this one. I'm only just starting a book, but someday I'll have to write a query! I feel it looming over me....

It's rather funny, I feel like I've had some practice doing some of those sort of things, since in school I have to write summaries for books all the time in one single paragraph. How am I supposed to boil something so interesting into one paragraph?!

Speaking of summaries, the Mistborn 2 book summary was almost dangerously spoiling of the first book. I've already had a few instances of interested people walking up to me and trying to read the summary. These usually end with me diving between them and the book and screaming something like "NO! You'll ruin the first book for yourself!!" Not really a problem though, I've mostly found it humorous. Sorry, got a bit off topic there.

I went ahead and made an Undead warlock on your server, named Einah. When are you guys usually online? It would be neat if we could group together if I catch up any time soon, hehe ^^

Hullo, I'm Soryn. Like a few others, I first came here because of Mr. Sanderson.

Let's see...I like to write, and some day I hope to be an author.  I also like to draw, and it is one of my ambitions to also illustrate my books. I absolutely love video games, and am pretty active on WoW at the moment.

Anyway, I've been a lurker for a while but hopefully now I will be a bit more active.
