Books / Re: What are you reading, part 3
« on: December 27, 2007, 08:29:40 AM »
Reading "Innocent Mage" by Karen Miller.  Trying to anyways.  Really tough going.  Slow and pretty boring so far.  Semi-decent writing.

How did you like this one? I've almost picked it up because the cover is cool and I like trying out new authors, but I've been a bit disappointed lately by a lot of the new author's I've read.

Just finished up Elantris! Very cool book! Not sure what I'm going to start netxt!

Brandon Sanderson / Re: How did you find out about Brandon Sanderson?

I've looked at Brandon's books more times than I can count, but have lately been in more of an 'urban fantasy' (a la Jim Butcher, Rachel Caine, et al), so I hadn't picked them up yet. But with the release of Jim Butcher's lastest cursor novel - Captain's Fury - I've been in the 'mood' to read more high fantasy-type stuff. Luckily, this was at the same time that Harriet announced that he's going to be finishing the WoT books - one of my all-time faves, if you couldn't guess from the name! ;) So I ordered the books, and ended up working Christmas Eve night shift @ work, which was luckily nice and slow, and spent all night reading Warbreaker online! I got up to chapter 30! Whee!! Can't wait to read the rest of 'em!

Brandon Sanderson / Re: I want info about Goodkind/Brandon's comments

The interview that Brandon is referring to is the reason why I stopped enjoying his books. I have been a member of his message board for years, and the way he responsed to questions asked by true fans (and friends of mine) just disgusted me. I actually did not read his books for, like, years after that because anytime I would try to pick up the book and enjoy the story, my dislike of the author himself ruined it for me. I'm going to try and read Confessor eventually, just because I want to know what happens to Richard and Kahlan, but my love of the characters has sadly diminished after all the preaching that I had to skip over in Naked Empire.
