Just a thought, folks. I was thinking that maybe the entire forum experience would be more interesting if we tried to explain ourselves a little more.
Let me give an example. The 'TV Shows you loved as Kids' thread. A lot of the posts are simply lists. Now, there's nothing wrong with that--but I wonder if the thread would be more interesting if we tried to give some explanations. Pick ONE show, instead of a whole list of them, and put it in your post. Then, tell us why you loved it, or what you think of it now. Make some sort of contributory comment.
I fell similarly about a lot of the threads, such as those in the Music section. The "What's Playin'" thread has started to annoy me a little bit. I started it as an interesting experiment to see what we could learn about each other. However, people soon started listing five or six songs in one post, and I grew bored, feeling that the thread had simply turned into people listing their favorite music.
Instead, what if you randomly (it HAS to be random) played a song out of your list, then tell us where you got it, why you bought/downloaded it, and what you think of it? Wouldn't this be more interesting.
Cool Lyrics. WHY do you think that's a cool lyric?
Quotes. Who gave the quote! Half the time these aren't even attributed. Tell us where you found it, and why you were thinking of it when you decided to post.
Again, I'm not really very annoyed by this; I've just always thought we were missing out on some interesting discussions because people didn't give proper thought to their posts.
