Homeward Bounder: from a Susan Cooper book? (Not looking it up.)

Diana Wynne Jones, I think?

« on: November 27, 2008, 05:11:36 AM »
(Is this where this goes?)

We wish you a happy birthday
We wish you a happy birthday
We wish you a happy birthday
And a happy birthday

We wish you a happy merry
Merry merry, a happy birthday
We wish you a Christmas birthday
And a New Year's birthmus

Good tidings to you, and all of your flesh
We wish you some figgy pudding, and a nice Halloween
We wish you a merry birthmus, and a Christmas New Year!

The first time I saw Baal on SG-1, I said, "He'd be great playing the Devil."

I was amused.

On a related note, have you noticed that some writers aren't so hot at reading out loud? I got the audiobook of Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce (which is done by Full Cast Audio, so each character is done by a different actor) and the whole time I was thinking, "Man, this narrator is kind of painful to listen to," and then at the end when they did the credits I realized the narrator was Tamora Pierce. Whoops.

I had that experience with Isaac Asimov.

Brandon recommends The Truth as a good introductory book to Discworld.

We like Small Gods (or Guards! Guards!, if only just for the door scene).

Are you going to wear your "Incalculable" T-shirt?   ;D  (Or has Brandon bestowed a new adjective upon you?)

I used it for a couple years but got out of the habit when I was using a lot of different computer lab computers. Also, people who tried to use my computer would get upset.

Oh yeah.  That was frustrating.

B) The Dark is Rising
E) Lifter, by Crawford Killian
F)The Hero and the Crown, by Robin McKinley (okay, I googled this one, but it did sound awfully familiar.)

I) You got that wrong. :) Check the punctuation.

Ah ha!  Mr and Mrs with no periods would be from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.  Sneaky.

I've wished for a uterine replicator more than once.   :D

I don't think abortion should be made illegal, but I just wish there were some way to get people to stop wanting to do it.    :(
