Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon's Book Tour
« on: October 24, 2008, 04:52:20 PM »
You can drive to Ohio. You Michganders do it all the time to go to Cedar Point. Brandon is at least as interesting.

Why does everyone go to ohio. Almost all the authors i know tour to Ohio. Whats so dandy about Ohio?

Seriously, come to Michigan. *holds a flat, blank gaze.* Come.

From first glance it looks rather cluttered.  I was wondering if it would be a good idea, to make a section for stories and non-stories.  True it's not to difficult to search for the thread you wish to view, but it's just an idea.

Its actually i good idea, makes things convenient.

I clicked on this topic thinking it was about a composer.  You learn something new every day.

'Sup? Someone looking for me?

Hehe, that's actually what I thought when I first saw it, too, because that's the first thing that comes to mind when I see/hear Dvorak, not the keyboard config :P

Brandon Sanderson / Re: TinEye
« on: October 24, 2008, 04:33:50 PM »
Very curious. I can't think what it's supposed to mean if it's not Mistborn-related. There's the "tin ear" expression, but that's negative, and I'm sure they're not going for that.

It might be related to Inkthinkers Art...or someone who posted drawings and the such about the books...

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hero of Ages, job well done

One of the great things about Brandon's writing philosophy is that he's not afraid to take those bits of stories that didn't work somewhere and put them somewhere else where they work better. He's not married to the integrity of a work; when Mistborn Prime and Final Empire Prime didn't work, he wasn't afraid to scrap them and build something awesome from the scraps. That's a huge example of killing your darlings.

Even knowing that as long as I have, it didn't really sink completely home until tonight how far Brandon is willing to go to make a book as good as it can be. Brandon told me at dinner that he's just decided to cannibalize something from Dragonsteel to put it into Way of Kings—one of the best parts of the book. I honestly never thought he would cannibalize Dragonsteel, but now that he knows he's not going to get back to Dragonsteel for at least ten years, even that is fair game in order to make Way of Kings awesome. (Inkthinker is also partly responsible for the inspiration to do this.) I was always kind of ambivalent about Way of Kings—it didn't quite gestalt for me like his other books such as Dragonsteel did. But now—now I'm really excited for it.

Authors like Brandon are an inspiration. I cant wait for more Sanderson... Ahem, i meant his books. *Awkward silence looms heavy.*

i believe, that the mist spirit is the collective souls of the HOA's of the past.

And that the HOA of today must unite with the mist spirit to destroy Ruin...That would explain why Ruin would want the world to think it evil--and that why i think it changed that part of the prophecy as well.

I don't think that deepness is the correct word.

Ruin altered it--i don't know what the word actually is but that's no it.

Vin wields the mists once...it essentially gives her powers that no other HOA can have...

Mist spirit has control over mist...

mist is formless mass of infinite energy...

so, what do y'all think?

first off I'd like to thank you Qarlin, as i was to lazy to look for the original posts--even if they held the poof that i so needed to prove my case.

so thanks for that.

Did any of us know that the mist and the mist spirit were two different entities. Did anyone know they were the same? surely no one suspected that they were both the same and different. Yet you say that because of the unsureness of what it was i meant--that it should be taken literally. Well, read carefully what i said. I refer to Vin wielding the mist--and yet i said she would unite with the spirit. i mention that the evilness of the Deepness is another of Ruins alterations--and yet i speak of the Spirit.

I even mention that the mist is endless power. So, for your understanding, when i say mist spirit it is obvious i believed that they were essentially the same. i was wrong in that sense. However Vin did wield the mist as i said. She did kill ruin with it.

I did attempt to explain why. Or to assume how or what it would mean for her to take the power. Saying that it was the Collective souls of past HOA's. That. since it does not concern directly with the argument should be ignored.

Someone said that this is just a desperate attempt to not eat a hat--i have something to say to that; This is a fight for my name. I argue that i should be addressed as lord or Sir. The idea of me eating a hat is secondary. I am right anyway, just read between the lines, and be objective.

I i hadn't made the punishment as exciting as it is--you all wouldn't be so eager to see me charged...curse me demented creativity.

I swear it says that she did pick up the earring and put it back in her ear before she went out.  Can someone check that?

No, It says that later when she & Elend return to the city that she had found the erring and had to get it straightened by a jeweler so that she could use it again.      It had gotten really mangled up on the trip through Marshes brain.

i thought it said that Yoman handed it to her...

So I shouldn't despair that my otherwise lovely, intelligent, charming children love Captain Underpants to the exclusion of any other fiction?

...No, i didn't say that. If you knew me, you'd know that I'm more then slightly demented and still where two pairs of underwear. I can't say that it is due to the nearly naked hero but he might have influenced me some.

however, i don't mean to startle you. Please don't be startled.

I'm not sure if i want to reveal my work on the website...I mean should i?

We don't post our stories here. We merely report our progress (honor system kind of a thing). It's up to you to post it or offer to email it to people if you want feedback. Since it's a NaNoWriMo, I don't think any of us expect it to be publishable....

Kinky. I'll check it out some more though. :P
