Ok gamers have tons of RPG's squirreled away at their homes. But lets say something horrible happens. Lets say you have to choose which games you can keep and which you cant. What top five game sets of core books would you keep and what would you tearfully cart over to the used book store.
I like to call this the A list and B list.
A List
The Collected Classic Traveller
Castle Falkenstein & Comme il faut
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Hackmaster Core Books
Gurps IOU and Core Books.
B List
All my planescape stuff
D&D 3E
Vampire
Mage: Sorcerors Crusade
Wraith
Changling
Aeon
Abberant
Exalted
Rifts
Robotech
Heavy Gear
Jovian Chronicles
7th Sea
Lots of D20 stuff
Space 1889
Traveller 2300 AD
Feng Shui
err and a few hundred other things

dude you play way to many RPG's ;D the only ones I've got would be the ones worth keeping.
-
The funny part is I dont play much anymore...
I just dont throw away much.
and since I've been playing since I was 8 ( 19 years ago) I have quite a few now.
-
If you think I have a lot you should see ehlers's gameroom.
-
Well, I have a lot of BOOKs, but not different systems
Most of my purchasing was when I was a teenager, when I played more or less only ONE game: AD&D
I have almost EVERYTHING released for 1E, and a lot of it is stuff I *still* can't find a use for.
I have WEG SW 1st Ed, Star Frontiers, TMNT (only Palladium book I've ever owned), Paranoia, TWERPS (most expansions), a few GURPS books, Ninja Burger, d20 CoC, d20 Modern, and at least the core books from all four editions of AD&D (including Hackmaster)
Of that, my 5 to save would be D&D 3E, AD&D (1E), Hackmaster, WEG SW, and uh... that's it. Don't care so much about anything else that I'd choose it above the others. Probabl d20 Modern.

Most of the games my group plays regularly are ones that we made up on our own. The two big ones are Titan (our fantasy world rpg), Barbarian (gaming in the world of bad 80's sword & sorcery flicks), and Covington City (our superhero game with it's lean, stripped down system that allows for damn near anything to be added to it).
Out of the store-bought games, the only ones that I would definitely make sure to keep are Lord of the Rings (Yeah, I know: big shock.) and Talislanta. I would also be sure to keep my copy of the Monsternomicon.
I would also try to hold onto Dying Earth, Obsidian, All Flesh Must be Eaten, Night Life, Adventure, and finally my old copies of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia and my Villains & Vigilantes collection, just for nostalgic reasons.
-
ahhh but you didn't limit it to five...
You must choose, but choose wisely.
Its tough when you put a number limit on it.
-
Just five? Okay. My five store-bought games would be:
LotR
Talislanta
Villains & Vigilantes
All Flesh Must be Eaten
Night Life
I would also keep Monsternomicon and the D&D Rules Cyclopedia, but since they are sourcebooks and not actual games in and of themselves, they would not count towards my total.
-
Finaly Fantasy 6,7,10
Baldur's gate
Morrowind
there that's what I'd keep ;D
-
Sprig, I banish you from the realm of true RPG players.
-
bah what I listed are 1,000,000,000 times better then everyone elses
-
eheheh. My RPG collection consists of:
Vampire (4 sourcebooks); Mage (7 sourcebooks); Werewolf; D20 CoC and D20 D&D. So, my list consists of exactly what i own. :) I would definately take Mage though. MY all time favourite RPG.
