I respond, "Sure, but if you want to write them you will certainly want to know how they work." Writing is all about execution, and I find applying some basic laws of physics to magic systems make them more understandable and realistic. Here, I'm going to outline my basic method for developing a magic system.

I'm pretty sure DS is prior to the shattering of Adonalsium, I'm almost positive Liar was as well. Though Liar takes place in the DS world, but one could be for and one after, or they could both be after, but I am inclined to think that at very least Liar is before.
When using Feruchemy to increase abilities does it take more of a Feruchemist’s energy reserve to gain the same ability increase bonus at higher levels of use? Let’s use speed as an example, would it take the same amount of the Feruchemist’s energy to go from 2mph to 3mph as it would to go from 202mph to 203mph?
I think I'm doing what you said Peter, actually I'm pretty sure that's what I'm doing I just suck at explaining it.

I'm not aware of dialects where wash and harsh are pronounced the same. Usually dialects where wash is pronounced with an r in it, wash rhymes with horse (with an sh sound at the end). And dialects where the r in harsh is not pronounced use a more back a that is lengthened.
I really don't see why it's so hard. I say it out loud I can distinctly hear both the z and the s sound. . . o.e It doesn't sound like 'zh'. . . Maybe I'm making the "z" in the middle or back of my mouth? Yeah, it's kind of like I'm not making the 'z' with my teeth, it's further back in my mouth.
