Wow, seriously?  I understand not agreeing with someone's opinion, but that's just low.  Inclined to think the author is doing it right?  Yes.  Automatically blocking out everything that criticizes the work?  NO.

You're new, and I get that you wouldn't be familiar with what goes on here, but we are a level-headed, carefully analytical bunch that doesn't blindly follow Brandon no matter what he says.  And I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions like that after being here for less than a week.

I think that it was entirely in character for Vin to drink the wine.  She took a gamble, and it is a credit to the development of her character that she prioritized getting work back to her friends in a timely fashion over her own immediate safety in order to do so.

whelp, I guess you're entitled to that opinion. I'm not sure how much more can be said on the subject. In either case, I'm not sure Vin's actions constituted a Deus Ex Machina.

ah, that makes more sense. If they've got the resources, I'm sure they'd figure out a way to find them.

Thing is, I think we're neglecting the concept of snapping. Even for mistings, they've got to snap somewhow. houses like the House Venture would beat their children to make them snap, then test them with all sorts of metals. Allomancers were so valuable that they'd go to great lengths to find them.

Is that what they do with Atium? I'd imagine its so rare/valuable that they'd only really give it to Mistborn. I imagine that finding a "Seer" would be a rare find, since testing someone for Mistborn...ness is cheaper with two simpler metals than even a single bead of Atium. The only Seer we meet in the books also happens to be an Obligator, which probably explains his ability to experiment with Atium and discover his own ability.

The funny thing about actors and actresses in the business is that they often play age ranges, not their specific ages. For instance, all the characters on the High School TV-drama "Gossip Girl" are well in their mid twenties, yet they're all playing 17 year olds. It happens.
