There is also the possibility that the Dawnshards do not cut the souls of living things,
but simply 'awaken' them into the realisation that what they are doing is wrong

(But Voidbringers die/turn into normal parshmen because they're just plain evil)

And normal people, when hit with a Dawnshard, just start fighting for the Heralds and such 'n such.
meh. I don't know...

The other set of ten types of magic was mentioned as Voidbringing wasn't it? Or was it to do with the old magic?
I would love to see more of that (Voidbringing)

Black rents opening in the middle of a feast, sucking everything into them.

Ha. Haha.

Fantasticate has already been said.
Not that there is anything wrong with it, it is a pretty awesome word.

I pick CHEESE

(My brother is saying egad. I'm not sure if he's surprised, or if he is trying to submit it)

You should take a look at Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, if you haven't already. He does tend to rant on about how civilisation is a never-ending cycle of rise and fall, and how everything comes to an end, empires swallowed in apathy, and so on, but he does have some very good ideas on barbarism, especially in Midnight Tides and Reapers Gale.

Religion is also a bit of a focus, but I won't ruin the stories if you haven't read them.

Kaladin & Szeth are definitely both Windrunners.
- Windrunners in Dalinars vision => Shardplate glowed blue (sapphire).
- Both breathe in (inhale) to absorb Stormlight => Body focus of sapphire is Inhalation.
- Essence/Soulcasting properties are Zephyr/Translucent gas or air, respectively.

Shallan is probably in the sixth order (Shash)
- her first soulcasting was blood (Shash's Body focus/Soulcasting property)
- she draws perfect representations of memories (Primary Divine Attribute - Creative)
- her Soulcasting requires a truth from her to work (Secondary Divine Attribute - Honest)

this all seems to work out - what do you think?
