Well, it happened.
Some employer out there likes me.
Went out of her way to be nice to me, in fact, and bent over backward to get me on board.
Which amounts to waiting 4 weeks (TTC asks 4 weeks notice, not 2), and giving me not the $7000 raise they originally offered, but the $11000 I needed to make it worth it (also meaning my wife can quit her job). I will have my own office. I will have fewer vacation days for a couple years, but that'll clear up.
I will be working at Hunter Labs, doing first line tech support for color measuring equipment. Sounds fun, though obscure. Where do you move too with experience troubleshooting color measuring equipment? I dunno, but the hours are a heckuva lot better than where I'm at, and there are no sales. I can take night classes or a lot of other things.
I also hope to start selling fiction soon (soon as in the next 3-4 years), so that income will eventually, in 10 or so years, be where I'd move to. We'll see where fate takes us.
I have no idea what my Internet presence will be at this job. Maybe I'll be on more, maybe less. Maybe I can write at work, maybe not. But for sure I'll have a lot more evening free and I'll be able to be a social animal again.
So anyway, life's good.
