Good article, though a little too wordy for the point it focuses around.

Random point: it's not that wacky to have japanese melee troops. I was reading about the British Armies 'Chindits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chindits)' experiment in the pacific theatre, and apparently the jungle battles often came to bayonets and kukri's versus katana's.

...Yes. Our tanks had flamethrowers in the hull :)
