I understand this, but if I don't HAVE to deal with them why would I?  I can deal with them if I have to but I wont just out of charity...

I think I used to think that way a lot when I was younger. Then I realized that (for me) it was a very prideful way of thinking, putting myself above other people. Sometimes when you're in a situation in which people frustrate you, you just have to meet them on their level and recognize different kinds of intelligence. It's amazing the things you can learn about life when you ask people about themselves, allowing the conversation to be more about their interests than your own.

And then, sometimes, you just have to endure until you're able to move yourself to a place where you're surrounded by people who are more likely to meet you on your own level, like going to college or moving to a large city where people are more likely to be educated. And sometimes it's just good to spend more time alone developing your own talents if you recognize your frustration and know that you can't remedy it right away.

yeah, once you start thinking your superior to other people (unless, of course, you're me) you kinda well, show you suck. isolating yourself because other people annoy you shows a distinct lack of socialization ability. Sure, youc an keep the annoyed feeling in check, but if it's there, it's goign to keep coming back. I'd suggest learnign to get over it.

I just described a LOT of people. It's ok to prefer being alone frequently, and everyone has an ego, so there's a LITTLE bit of this condescention, but when it starts being a major factor and motivator in your social habits, that's an issue.

I just think that if you truly believe you're better than other people to the point where you won't interact with them because of it you're losing your humanity.

Yeah, well, I do not have a lack in social skills, and should I I believe I would become very unhappy.  I have gotten to an area where I have enough people I like around (to the point where names are sometimes hard to remember) and have friends in all areas of our insignificant schools little society, and therefor not only don't want to deal with more people, but don't have to.  If I ever need to become more sociable again, I can, which is good enough for me.  But for now, I can be annoyed with people and it has little to no effect on my social standings as anyone I care about I already am friends with.

note that my theory has nothing to do with social standing. Some of the biggest misanthropes in the world have "high social standing" or popularity.

Alright, well popularity isn't really what I meant there, I didn't word it well...  What I meant is by "social standing" is my friends who I already have don't care if I ignore the rest of the people in the viscinity so I, for right now anyway, don't have to worry about having to make new friends since I have a friendship with everyone I care about having a friendship with.
Which means I can go and Ignore everyone who I don't get along with and it wont effect my friendships at all, meaning it wont effect me in a negative light.

actually, that's not too far off from what I thought.

now, I'm not saying I'm any better.

But it seems to me that we'd be better off caring about all those people. no, not caring what they think about our clothes and stuff. But caring about them. Worrying about their lives as human beings and stuff. you may be comfortable with your attitudes, but where I have similar ones, I am very uncomfortable with them. That is, I'm just fine ignoring and writing people off, but thinking about that attitude makes me think I'm not the superior human that attitude tries to project.

I can see your point, respectfully, but I give most people a chance before I decide they aren't worth my time, so I relly don't feel too bad about it.  At all.  Not to mention the morons which I am surrounded by at my school has literally killed off any hope for our future or any compassion for stupid life I had at any point in time.  Honestly, generations get more and more stupid with less and less thinking.  It makes me sad to know our future is in my generations hands...

see, that's the problem, you're too negative and pessimistic. Doesn't the fact that we've made it so many eons indicate to you at all that mankind can overcome the foibles of adolescence? it's not like teens are all that differetn now than they've ever been

okay now you're just being punative.
I dont care how stupid or mean or obnoxious people are all I care about are morals, if they have even the slightest set of morals I give a crap about how they're doing, if they say "hi" I'll say it back even if I don't know them or don't like them, If you treat people nicely and with endless compassion and patience they will do the same, that's what made jesus so likeable.

First of all, yeah, I see your point, uh, again, SE.  But by statistics teens are getting progressively stupider, more than 70% of my class (2006) is failing at least one class and the freshman this year (2007) have over 75%.  So you can see how I am worried.

TFO, I am not a religous person.  To me, Jesus was just another man, if you can even prove he existed.  So Jesus being likeable is not something you can prove to me.  Maybe he was a stumbling drunk (by the way no offense to religous persons here, I am just not) and no one would know because there is no way to prove it.  History can and will become smudged over time.

And endless compassion is crap.  I used to be very compassionate.  For a long time.  It has faded and the result had no change on people's opinions (like I care) of me or actions towards me.   So don't give me endless compassion is the solution, because it isn't.  Although ignoring society isn't a great solution either, but it is working for now...

for now
imagine if you will once you have finished college and ypu have to deal with people for whatever job you may have, it doesnt matter if you had compassion, you have to keep it up otherwise when you're out in the real world, nobody's gonna want to work woth you.
