Cool Stuff found in the Real World
« on: October 07, 2004, 09:07:25 AM »
I just thought there needed to be a dumping ground for all the weird/cool/funny stuff you see in daily life and want to share, but dont' need a whole new thread for.

I'll start with some recent monkey sightings.

Sunday I saw an emaciated woman edging her lawn with a T-shirt on that read, if I read it right (I may not have) said "Overweight Monkey Goat"
Weird

Also, Tuesday I saw a bumper sticker that said "My Monkey Made Me Do It." This, I want.

Not monkey related, but yesterday I was stopped at a long light next to a very nice Cadillac convertible with the top down. Hanging from the rear-view mirror by a rubber band was an Elvis action figure, which the driver of the car occassionally gave a little tug, making Elvis bounce and sway. THe driver himself had thick black hair slicked back and big sunglasses. The music was "Now and Then a Fool Such as I" followed by "Teddy Bear."
I've now had my first official Elvis sighting. That was SO cool.

There's this person who goes on my bus....and she's really, really hot.

That's about the coolest thing I've seen in the real world recently.

By the way Saint, I forgot to mention that I got a picturebook from work in honor of you, A Monkey Among Us, by Dave Horowitz. Funny book. About 100 words in the whole book. Excerpt:

Quote

(Each line is a different page spread.)

A monkey.
A monkey among us.
A monkey among a fungus.
A monkey, humongous.
A hippopotamus.
A hippopotamus hops a bus...
all the way to Hippotropolis.
A hippopotamus on top of us.
A giraffe.

Etc. Very funny illustrations.

While Lama's are pretty stupid, I don't think they count as vegetables.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I meant Llama's. I in no way endorse the eating of religious figures. Honest.
