I didn't think it was scary either, but we're describing it from Eric's wife's POV.

And I'm trying to remember what on earth the dream sequence in Toy Story 2 that was creepy was. I don't remember a dream sequence.

It's very early on, when Woody is first shelved. He dreams Andy comes home and won't play with him because he's broken. He drops Woody, who falls onto a pile of cards, which turns out to be covering a hole. He falls into a trash can, and arms made out of toy parts hold him down while Andy closes the lid of the trash.

Oh.

Well in all fairness, disembodied arms are pretty darn creepy.

You know, I'm surprised by how WRONG most movie critics were about this movie. The reviews say it's terrible, especially the cream of the crop (rottentomatoes), but it's doing very well at the box office.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

I think a lot of critics took the wrong approach to reviewing this movie.

I enjoyed it.

I thought the clues, other than the first one, were rather tame. Of course, I'm a student of American History, so I guess I'm a little more prejudiced on that matter than most.

I was just stunned by the size of their find, however. If something a tenth of the size of that treasure was found, archeologists and historians would call it the greatest find in the history of, well, history.

Heck, I'd just take the scrolls from the library of Alexandria.  :o

The real surprise to me is how much my mother liked it. She liked it enough to immediately declare it a buyer. This is significant, since my mother works for a video store, and we get free rentals.

I saw it based on Skar's review, and have to say, I absolutely loved it.  Ridiculous at parts, true, but I found Cage's character to be a very interesting action hero.  The movie worked for me--and I went home and bought the soundtrack, which is always a good sign.

Glad to hear it! I almost want to go see it again (and Incredibles), but I'm keeping so busy lately...
