Prince Imrahil, the king/prince of Dol Amroth... he's got like two lines in the whole book and yet he seems like a noble and dynamic character....
Plus he has his own army and banner...
Go Swan!
-
Haldir. He had all of three lines in the second film before he becomes orc-kebob, but he has one of the cooler back stories in the novels.
Plus the Mouth of Sauron, just because he looked so incredibly cool in the old animated version of Return of the King. They are sticking his cut scene in the dvd release.
-
Helm Hammerhand... how cool was he?
-
His character in the movie, by the way, was played by the Gyro Captain from the Mad Max movies (or, for a more recent reference, the Train Man from Matrix Revolutions). I love that actor.

I like Deagol, the original "owner" of the ring (after Isildur, of course. Correct me if I'm wrong about that one.) Well, I don't know if I'm qualified to say Deagol, because he got killed, if I recall...
-
I guess, technically, Deagal was one of it's owners, though that lasted a whole five minutes till Smeagal killed him.
-
I wonder if Deagol would have turned out the same way as Smeagol if he had been corrupted by the ring....probably ;D
BTW, Tekiel, congrats on your promotion from Flea-ridden Gutter Crawler to Beggar. Nice work! ;)
-
Thank you! ;D I actually worked a bit more than normal to get the upgrade (as you can tell from my rabblings as of late). :P
-
I think that if I had more time on my hands I could use Deagol and Smeagal to write the Middle Earth version of Fox In Sox.
-
ooooh! If you did do that, I'd help. :)
-
Deagol would have taken longer, I think. He wouldn't have been a murderer (perhaps in self defense though, and that could make him feel guilty enough to flee and hate himself, I suppose) and had to have left his village so soon.
-
Smeagol was something of a bad egg even before he set eyes on his precious.
-
That's true. So maybe Deagol would be more gentle, instead of the writhing, fish-eating, cave-dwelling Gollum.
-
a kinder, gentler gollum would bite Frodo's finger off then?
-
Yes, but he would feel gosh-darned awful about it afterwards.
-
Well maybe if Gollum wwas kinder and gentler than he wouldn't bite Fordo's finger off in the first place. Maybe if he was nicer it would drastically alter the series...
-
well, that would suck. If Gollum doesn't bites the finger, than Sauron will get the ring.
-
So?
-
I disagree. I don't think Deagol would have become a gollum. I think, eventually, one of Sauran's allies (or foes) would have found Deagol and taken the ring from him. Remember, Smeagol liked looking down at the earth and didn't like the sun before he found the ring. Therefore it made sense for him to hide away in the mountain. Deagol didn't seem like the type to want to climb into a mountain to "get away from the nasty sun." Thereby exposing the ring to any and all who had the power to feel it's strength.
-
well, he wouldn't have become gollum, but he would have been corrupted. and he would have known he needed to hide the ring away. Remember, the ring CHOSE smeagol, so it could hide itself till Sauron was ready. if Deagol had ended up with the ring, he would have hidden away somewhere.
