UT2004 Star Wars mod: Troopers
« on: June 12, 2004, 07:17:20 PM »
Woot. Screenshots!

This batch is of the Death Star map. It's lots of fighters, no bombers yet. You destroy the generators (using the magical torpedoes that miss a lot, since they stray left and down from the crosshair) and then fly into the death star to nail the core generator. Controls are : Mouse turns the fighter up down left right, W speeds up, S speeds down, A rolls left, D rolls right. Primary fire is rapid fire blasters on both sides, on rebels secondary is dual torpedoes, imperials its dual firing lasers (fire slower but if they hit instant kill enemy fighters). Observe how detailed the cockpits are - enemy fighters that are targetted have their pilots name shown on the left, the buttons look like buttons, lots of little screens etc. Very impressive.

This batch of screenshots is from the Star Destroyer map, where the rebels have to fight their way towards the ships bridge. Its main problem is that there is mass grenade spammage, making it impossible for the rebels to advance.

Other maps i don't have screenshots of are : Mos Eisely, Dagobah, Endor and Yavin. Its a pretty cool mod, though its got a fair amount of bugs. One wierdness is that it all the weapons have to reload. I didn't think that happened every 30 shots in Star Wars. It certainly didn't happen in Jedi Outcast.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Hah! it isn't that your aim sucks, its just that you're a Storm Trooper. Of course your aim is going to suck! Heh

Otherwise this is a very impressive mod, and obviously they couldn't wait for Stars Wars: Battlefield Far Far Away.

Are you sure this isn't a mod for BF 1942? It really reminds me of it. Or maybe a mod for BFV.

There is a star wars mod for BF1942, but its dodgy, because BF1942 is dodgy. Never did like the 'feel' of BF1942.

UT04 has nice graphics, a very flexible engine and vehicle support, so it's the obvious choice for a Star Wars mod.

Oh right, I almost forgot that BF1942 doesn't have vehicle support. =P
