Title: Question as to Mistborn's release price
Post by: Faster Master St. Pastor on July 16, 2006, 04:37:17 PM
So, EUOL, you wouldn't happen to know the sale price of Mistborn for this Saturday would you? I want to get it, but I may not have enough for a while, so if you want dinner (plastic fork and all) you'd better tell me. :)

FMP,

I honestly don't remember!  I think the book will be $28, and it will be at least 10% off.  Maybe fifteen, but I don't remember.  So, $25 or maybe a little cheaper.

yeah, Diamante said that the two copies I reserved (I'm just doin' my part to ensure that EUOL's hand cramps up irreparably!) would come to approx $50.50 plus tax. Walden is giving a discout of %15. But there should be a Borders coupon coming out that you can use, also according to out friend in the book business, Diamante. :) Hope that helps, FMP.

It does, but I just realized that I have a river rafting scout trip that may or may not get back in time for me to make it, so I may just have to get it after the official release. :'(

Actually, the Walden signing is a specially mandated *pre* release. So if wait for the "official" release, you just won't be cool anymore. Sorry. ;)

Unless you buy it through TWG's Amazon link, in which case you will receive an official coolness point redeemable for fantastic prizes.

Ack! So I'm *not* just halucinating that the Mistborn ad is following me everywhere! It's here, it's there, it's everywhere.....

What about Mustard's book? It was recently released and you didn't do this for him (meaning the ad that follows you everywhere).

Well, you should realize that it didn't have as big a release under it's wings as Tor can do. But you should also see that this is EUOLs brother making all the changes around here... soooo. Yeah. Plus Fell and Mustard have that fun little brotherly fighting they insist on continuing.

Facts? I'd say so. Visit your local library for more on facts, opinions, causes, and effects (not to be confused with affects).

hm.  I guess I could go cancel my Amazon pre-order and re-place it through the TWG Amazon link.  Nahhh...sounds like too much work.

I'm ticked because I can't afford to buy a copy of Mistborn.  I'm actually more sad about that than not being able to buy food.

I know what you mean, Fish, though thankfully it's not that desperate for me. Tight month, though. Here's hoping it won't be tight for long (for either of us).

I'm happy I've got a B&N gift card with some money on it. Now if I can ever get a day off work to go to Mansfield and BUY it... that's a totally different matter.

The real reason Mustard's book didn't get an ad link is that it is not available on Amazon. If you want to buy it, you sadly have to go to an actual store.

Well, it's not on Amazon, but it's on B&N.com (as well as seagullbook.com and deseretbook.com).  So there.

I swear I didn't see this before I called you yesterday! But I'm really glad I did. :D

I must say that I hope one and all have a ball tomorrow at the release party/signing/fest type thing.  It's a bit of trip from Oregon or I might just be tempted to pop in myself.  I guess I'll have to take my second best option:  a trip down to Ashland to enjoy the Oregon Shakespeare Festival all weekend.  I guess I can live with that.  Brandon, make sure and stop in Portland on your Northwest trip this fall!!!

Right now MB is #6,729  on amazon but that could drastically change since now it's teamed up with Terry Goodkind's new book (#5) in the buy it with section for both books.  That's some good free advertising.

It's hard to tell whether that would make EUOL happy or not, considering his opinion of Goodkind.

lol.  I'll take it.  Interesting how that works.  I noticed he was on my page, Sprig, but not that I was on his page too.

Heh.  That is funny.  I wonder how those pairings are made up?  I would be certain that it's all about the dollars and cents somehow.

Oh, and to whom it may concern, I *did* go ahead just now and change my (unaffiliated) pre-order to one that I placed through the TWG link.  Umm...you're welcome?

Coolness.  I hope my three copies helped.  And yes, there must be three.  One for me, one for the wife, and one for emergencies.

Good idea.  I've decided that due to my dire financial situation continuing to continue that I will keep the signed hardcovers for show and will buy paperbacks for reading.

heh. I always get two because I want to have one copy to read and possibly get a bit dinged up and the other signed copy to stay all personalized and pristine. Of course, maybe I'll switch to buying three once I find myself a hubby. ;)

You're dreaming, Shrain. More likely you'll have to resort to one hardcover and a paperback, like me.  Husbands make you poor.

I will be one of those people buying next month to keep the numbers strong. :) Or the next. Tis a sad thing to be so poor you have to choose between the bills and the rent. Stupid health issues.

I suppose it would have been nice to save the third book and keep it all pristine, but we ended up loaning it out in no time flat.  Of course, my wife already finished reading her copy last night, so that one is free again.  I'm only halfway or so.  It's been a busy, busy week.  At least I travel again on Friday.  More time to read!  Yay!!
