Well roumors are abound about the next X-men movie, according to AIC news the new mutants will be Beast, gambit and Angel. However Angel will be a female.
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=7&id=30631
Also Juggernot is supposed to be the new villian.
-
Any idea when it's supposed to be coming out?
-
nope, is supposed to start filming this year but there isn't even a script yet.
-
I'm all over Beast and Gambit and Juggernaut.
Though I wonder what they think Gambit can possibly do to Juggernaut.I'm not sure how I feel about Angel as a girl. I suspect I'm not bothered at all since they didn't do the Scott/Beast/Angel meet Jean as teenagers and flip out plot.
Anyway, Beast and Gambit are the two I've wanted since the first film. I haven't complained because the movies have been so good.
-
Yay! I too have been waiting for Gambit. I hope they get someone who can do his accent, though. As for Angel being a girl . . . I probably won't mind since I don't know that much about Angel anyways.
-
I just don't think Marvel can decide what they want to do with Angel--he has wings, then they cut them off, then they bring them back in techno form, then he goes insane, then he's good again, now he's a girl.... Just make up your minds, Marvel.
-
yeah, the big things... who cares? I mean, if there's a character I've paid less attention to than The Submariner....
-
I've never liked Gambit. He doesn't seem to fit.
That's all I have to say.
-
/me cuts Hom in the gut with a homemade shiv.
-
Well, the filmakers have disputed that Angel will be a woman.
I say they should just cast Orlando Bloom as Angel, that way you don't know if it is a man or a woman.
I've also heard a confirmation that Famke Janssen will be back. I wonder if she is coming back as Jean Grey, Phoenix, or Madelyne Pryor?
-
or d, all of the above.
-
They already had Hank McCoy in a brief cameo in #2, but I don't know who the actor is or if they'll use him again. Who would you cast as Beast, Gambit, and Angel (as a man or woman, and not counting Orlando Bloom, who is neither).
-
Beast = Keith David
This would make the movie worth a CA ticket price to see it in the theatres.
-
I don't really see that.
-
*Archon wonders whether there is such thing as a commercially made shiv*
I've also heard a confirmation that Famke Janssen will be back. I wonder if she is coming back as Jean Grey, Phoenix, or Madelyne Pryor?
Who is Madelyne Pryor? I recognize the other two, and my bet would be that she comes back as Phoenix for at least part of the movie. After all, in the end of the second movie, you saw the outline beneath the water that looked like a firebird.
Though I wonder what they think Gambit can possibly do to Juggernaut.
Well, to be fair, Juggernaut is hard to stop for anyone. And, if I were Gambit, I would just charge up his entire suit.
There are a couple mutants that really make me hope that they continue the series long enough for me to see them. Cable would be a really cool one, in my opinion. It would be cool to see how they would portray Havok too. Anyone else have people they are waiting to see?
-
I'm waiting for Cyclops to be more than set dressing.
-
As long as wolverine is in a movie then Cyclopse will never be anything but his pool boy.
As for someone who could play Beast, I'd hope they'd get someone classicaly trained in Shakespear since my view of him is from the old Cartoon that allwayse had him talking like that.
Gambit is a hard one, they should at least someone who can go a good Cajin accent.
-
Who is Madelyne Pryor?
Madelyne Pryor is the Sinister clone of Jean who gets married to Cyclops and is the mother of Cable. Then when Pheonix comes along, she gets dumped by Cyclops, eventually gets killed and comes back as the Goblin Queen. Tries to kill the X-men, then ends up joining them for awhile, then she dies again.
In fact, if you count all of her alternate personas, clones, and impersonators--Jean Grey dies a lot. Course, she gets married to Cyclops, can you blame her?
-
As long as wolverine is in a movie then Cyclopse will never be anything but his pool boy.
Course, she gets married to Cyclops, can you blame her?
Wow, what does everyone have against Cyclops?
-
He's not Wolverine
-
Cyclops is a putz. All he does is moan over Jean Gray and complain. He's a poor excuse of a leader.
-
Cy blow. As for angle being a girl - What up with that? The X-men world is so big why don't they pick some other female charater from the comice books and have be in the film and the angle be played by a male role. Also does anyone known who is all going to in the film from the last film
-
Cyclops just gets annoying, plus most of the other X-Men are cooler. But he is one of the original X-Men and is one of the more iconic members.
In my view, Cyclops, Wolverine, and Storm are the most iconic X-men, all be it, not the most interesting X-men
The only confirmed people are Famke Janssen as some form of Jean Grey, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. I would think that Anna Panquin and Sean Ashmore would be coming back. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan said they won't commit until they have read the movie script. Halle Berry has said she would be in it if her scheadule permitted it.
As for adding other women X-Men to the movie. My vote would be for Shadowcat or Psylock.
-
I'm just kind of happy that everyone cares so much to argue about it. I'm not kidding, I like that everyone cares so much about this movie.
-
My vote for a woman would be Blink, but Psylocke is a close second. As long as we don't have Jubilee, I'm fine.
-
Anna Paquin is hot. I'll see the movie if she's in it.
Though sadly I'm still yet to see X2.
-
I don't think that they could do Shadowcat in this one 42, or at least not as a member of the team. In the last one, during the assault on the mansion, they showed Kitty Pride and she was still a little girl (Correct me if this name is wrong, it has been about 8 years since I learned this)
Psylocke would be pretty interesting, although there are already two telepaths in the movies, so I doubt she will appear.
On a different note, I hope that if they do Angel, they give him his metal wings. Those were much cooler.
My vote for a woman would be Blink
Who is Blink?
-
Shadowcat is in the first movie. She is older in the first movie, but she is specifically called Kitty.
Not sure who the other girl is in the second movie.
Blink is a teleporter, she's actually part of Generation X, and a member of the X-Men in an alternate reality.
By the way, has anyone heard about who the villian(s) will be in X3?
-
Supposedly the villain will be Juggernaut. And yeah, I just remembered that, but it presents an interesting contradiction, because Kitty was much younger in the second movie. Unless there is another girl that can phase.
Sorry Fell, but I doubt that Blink will appear, since Nightcrawler is already featured in the movies.
-
Isn't metal-winged Angel known as Archangel?
It's actually been so long since I've seen the cartoons and whatnot that I can't even remember many of the "lesser mutants". I wonder if Colossus will be coming back. I thought he was rather cool, though he played a relatively minor role. However, he was one of the older students, and did see a little action in one of the earlier movies (was it the second?)
And I definitely would like to see Phoenix show up.
-
Yes, metal-winged Angel is also known as Archangel. Which also makes his name cooler than Angel. And yes Colossus showed up in the second movie, during the siege of the mansion.
-
Collosus was supposed to be the same age as all the other kids... just bigger for his age.
-
The problem with the metal-winged angel, known as Archangel, is that Archangel is evil. He is also know as death and is one of the four horsemen of Apocolypse.
Course, Apocolypse could make a cool villan for this next movie. Though I think that it is going to be the Sentinels.
-
Even as an evil character I liked Archangel. He was an angsty villian.
-
But 42, weren't the Sentinels produced by Henry Gyrich? If so, he died in the first movie, and Mystique took his place, that is how they captured Senator Kelly.
-
Thing about Marvel, and most comic books, is they isn't one contiunity, for example in the last X-Men cartoon SHEILD made the Sentinals.
If you check marvels site they have them made by someone named Trask.
-
My vote for a woman would be Blink, but Psylocke is a close second. As long as we don't have Jubilee, I'm fine.
Jubilee shows up for a moment in an X2 deleted scene. Hopefully, that's all we'll see of her.
Y'know who'd make a great bad guy? Apocalypse. Or Sinestro. I'm all over the sfx that'd take.
-
Though I'd love to see Apocolypse as the villian, having some random-evil-bad-human create the Sentinels in the third movie makes more sense since Mutants are becoming more known. And it's not a big stretch to see the President approve of the Sentinels after that scary meeting they gave him at the end of X2.
As for the characters - I just want to see a flying, tough Rogue.
-
Um, you mean Mister Sinister, right? Sinestro is a DC character.
And Sprig is right that there really isn't a lot of continuity in Marvel. Not that DC is much better. Since most of their popular characters have been around for 40 or 60 years or even longer, they've retold the same stories over and over again with slight variations.
Anyways, there were all kinds of hints about the sentinal program in the last movie. And the creation of the sentinals get credited to Trask most often, though their are numorous people involved.
Also, Jubilee is in a deleted scene from the first movie as well. Placing her in deleted scenes a good place for her, unless they do some serious character rewriting for her.
I agree with e, in that I think Apocolypse would make a cool villian.
-
I have to agree with SE's Typo there, lets just dump the X-men for a JLA movie.
-
one day my typing errors will rule the universe
A JLA flick would kick so much butt it can't even be calculated. I cannot hardly believe it. I am not even kidding. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, GL and the Flash all in the same movie? Don't even tell me that even the inclusion of Aquaman would ruin that.
They could even lead up to it. Do a couple "World's Finest" movies with just Supes and Bats. Then introduce the others a couple of times. Aw yah.
also, they should do some Elseworlds movies. That would RULE.
-
Well, DC and Marvel have different contracts with different movie distribution companies. So a JLA movie may be a ways off. Though there have been talks, especially after the success of X-Men.
The success of Spider-man kind of killed a lot of DC projects. Plus, Marvel is more popular that DC with the general populous.
I wouldn't really say that X-Men is the same as JLA. The X-Men are kind of all a bunch of freaks who live and work together, and the individuals in the X-Men may or may not be heroes. JLA is a bunch of already established crime-fighters who work together. The X-Men are not necessarily crime-fighters. JLA is more equivilent to the Avengers, than to the X-Men. IMHO
-
I want a transmetropolitan movie, with Patrick Stewart as Spider. That would rock.
-

*nods*
Well if they do a good job of casting for the Wonder Woman movie, they'd already have their actor there. Then they could reuse the actors from the new superman and batman movies and you've got half the thing cast already. Who should play GL though?
-
me. I should.
No, seriously, GL should be played by someone you don't normally think of as heroic and they should do the Kyle Raynor GL.
-
Were they to do a JLA movie, Kyle Raynor would be the best GL to use, if only because his inexperience would be a really vital balance against powerhouses like Supes, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I want you to know that ever since our previous discussion, every time anyone mentions Wonder Woman I imagine Jennifer Connelly in the outfit. I like it when people mention Wonder Woman.
-
Hey Fell.... Wonder Woman!
-
Oh yeah. That's the stuff.
-
oo... now I do too. I like it.
-
Gambit is still the man! Who else can throw a deck of cards around and make stuff explode? :o Exactly! :D
-
Gambit is still the man! Who else can throw a deck of cards around and make stuff explode? Exactly!
Jubilee. At least technically she could throw cards around, and her power does make stuff explode, if only in a weak way. Still doesn't make her cool.
-
Isn't there a character named "Boom-Boom" that kinda of does what Gambit does? But instead of chargeing items just makes them out of energey.
I happen to like Gambit as well, but everyone has powers that someone else has Marvel, DC is the same, there's only so many powers that people give the characters.
-
Well, there seems to be a tendency that once they've established one cool character to then develop other characters like that character but with a different personality or gender, or something else.
I guess, it doesn't really bother me that much, mostly cause I like how it gives the writers and the audience a chance to explore more of what it would be like to have power X or whatever. For example, Gambit has the ability to blow things up and he chooses to do x, y, and z with those powers. Boom Boom,...aka...Meltdown, has similar powers but she chooses to do u, v, and w with those powers.
-
I would do a, b, and c with the powers, because then I could sing the Jackson 5 to myself while fighting crime.
-
and we would then stop fighting the guys and beat up fell for singing a dumb song.
y'know, I see a Fantastic Plastic Men comic coming out of that.
-
True or not I don't know? I heard this rummored around so I guess we have to wait and see? But, I heard that Seann William Scott is playing Gambit. You know, Stiffler from American Pie. That would be hilarious ;D, but I'm not sure if he fits the character or not? ???
-
that would cause me not to watch X3.
-
I like Sean William Scott (he was great in Evolution and The Rundown), but I have very heavy doubts he could do Gambit.
-
well, more rumors.
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=0&id=30863
Looks like they expect to get Patrick Sterwart and they are planning to have Juggernaut as a bad guy.
I guess the whole Dark Pheonix thing is in the works, but nothing has been completely decided.
-
"I think Singer probably treats it in a more simplistic manner then I'm going to," Vaughn (Layer Cake) told the site.
Does that fill anyone else's heart with dread?
-
Yes, it is concerning.
Reads in my mind -- "I'm going to throw so much stuff in here that only hard core fans will have any idea what is going on and even then they will be completely confused, leaving me the only one who gets it. Then I can act like I'm smarter than everyone, cause I get it and they don't."
-
Yes, exactly.
-
I just noticed your Sig, 42. Very nice. That was a great speech.
Maybe we should all lobby this new director, eh?
-
Well, I noticed that IMBD listed Alan Cummings, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart as all being signed up for the 3rd movie. I'm not sure how accurate that is.
I guess what impresses me about Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart is that they can say the most awkward lines and make it seem natural. Hence, they have the ability to make what would otherwise be a poor film into at least a mediocre film.
-

I nominate Aishwarya Rai for wonderwoman since amazons are more of eurasian background.
-
That name is a mouthful, but I googled some pictures and she'd look great.
-
I can sort of see her in the role, if she lifted some serious weights.
-
I'm sticking with Jennifer C.
-
Well obviously. Non-Connelly suggestions at this point are purely theoretical.
-

This probably has something to do with their experience in the Royal Shakespeare Company. They have had a lot of experience at taking unusual sentences and making them meaningful. I personally think they are both great.
-
Well, they are just more experienced actors.
Unfortunately, it would be kind of awkward if Judi Dentch were playing Rogue and Ian McKellen were playing Gambit. I'm sure they would give great performances, but it would just be odd.
-
Esp since Ian had been playing Magneto previously.
-
Yes, we should give it to Kenneth No-Chin Branagh. He's done enough Shakespeare. Plus, I would get a kick out of hearing him do Remy's accent.
-
dude. That would rock. I'd pay to see that. (let's stop kidding ourselves, with the reputation of the last two, I'd pay to see the next one no matter who played Rely LeBeau). ... (ok, almost anyone. Carrot Top is right out.)

From an MSN article
http://movies.msn.com/beacon/editorial1.aspx?ptid=39c7b12e-b127-4ecc-800a-b5d15dd92dae>1=6542
*****************************
Vaughn, a long time "X-Men" fan, has been hard at work on the third installment and collaborated with the project's previous two screenwriters to complete a first draft in six days (which is unheard of in Hollywood).
And for all those fans who have been disappointed that Halle Berry's Storm character hasn't had much to do, that's about to change.
"I was talking to Fox and did say that the only thing about Storm that was better in "X2" than "X-Men" was that she had a better haircut," he says. "I have written her a very big role and hopefully she'll like it."
-
Frasier is playing the Beast!
This could be good, or really annoying, not sure which.
Also Kitty Pryde is in and so is Angel, though casting hasn't been finalized.
They also got everyone to come back from the first two movies. This makes for a large cast which could be very confusing. Course, LotRs had a large cast and it turned out cool.
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=31046
-
Grammer definitely has the voice for Beast, and since his costume is bound to be mostly prosthetic and CG I'm not really worried about him doing the role physically. I'm more worried about bringing in Shadowcat, Angel, Gambit, and Beast, on top of the already enormous cast. Sounds like a hollow marketing strategy: give the audience new characters and they will see it, regardless of story.
-
Ya Kelsey Grammer is perfect vocaly for the Beast. I'm quite happy about that.
-
Whatever happened to Cathrine-Zeta Jones playing Psylock? Anybody else heard of this?
-
No, but that would rock.
-
Maggie Grace as Shadowcat? I think her co-star Evangaline Lily would be better suited looks-wise.
It'll be interesting to see who Angel is also.
-
Actually, Maggie Grace as a brunette kind of has the Shadowcat look. Shadowcat is kind of one of those perpetually teenage X-men, so I want to see a younger actress playing her.
Maggie Grace (age 21) is a little younger, making her more age approppriate than Evangeline Lily(25). Maggie Grace is actually a year younger than Anna Paquin (22), but because of the youth serum injected into Anna Paquin when she won her oscar, I doubt it would be noticable on screen.
-
Well, this isn't good: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=0&id=31115&type=0
-
That is sad. Unless it means they pull in an even better director.
-
Wow, that is surprising. I can't believe Vaughn bailed. I just spent 10 minutes reading through this whole thread and the accompanying articles, and I am shocked. First Vaughn was super cocky about it, and then it sounded like he could possibly be good for the movie, and then he pulls out? These Hollywood types are so tempermental.
-
"I was talking to Fox and did say that the only thing about Storm that was better in "X2" than "X-Men" was that she had a better haircut," he says. "I have written her a very big role and hopefully she'll like it."
Oh great, more screen time for Halle. I'm sorry to say this, but since her first major appearance on the TV mini-series Queen, her acting has been pretty blah to me. Too bad. Her recent Catwoman movie was so bad it got tons of nominations for those "Worst of" awards--can't remember the name of those awards. Something like The Goober Awards. Anyway, I thought her acting was pretty forced and boring. So while I'm excited about Kelsey being the Beast, I'm not happy about this.
-
Supposedly, even though they have no director, the studio says "The movie is still right on schedule for its planned May 26, 2006 release". (Hutch Parker, president of 20th Century Fox)
Former director Vaughan did not want to move his family from London, so he opted to depart the production.
Wonder if this will be like the next Superman movie? 6 directors before they finally get one.
-
Hi Wookie, nice of you to drop by. Feel free to introduce yourself and read the FAQ, both of which threads are available in the Site News section. I'd provide links, but I'm lazy.

I guess movie directors DO grow on trees.

-
Well they got a great replacement and we can all thank Chris Tucker for droping out of Rush Hour 3 since Ratner would have been working on that instead.
-
Do you think he'll do a good job? Has he done anything besides Rush Hour 1 & 2?
I really liked the first two movies, and I hope the third one can carry off the growing cast. Too many storylines bog down movies--it will be interesting to see how they pull it off (supposing they do).
-
He's done a few other movies according to IMDB
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0711840/
he was the original choice as director for the X-men sequals.
-
He's done a few other movies according to IMDB
My personal favorite has always been Madonna: The Video Collection 93:99
-
Yeah, I think we can expect to see Madonna with a big role in X3 as Dazzler. ::)
-
He's done some music videos and rush hour. Kay.
-
Just think what he could do with this if he turned it into a feature length music video starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker dressed in late eighties/early nineties Madonna attire. Sounds like X-men to me.

Hugh Jackman gets his own Wolverine movie: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/news/comments/?entryid=205504
I can only hope it involves his romance in Japan.

sweeet.

Hey guys. Have a sneak peak of the X3 poster. It's simple and, well, to the point! ;p

-
Looks like no Nightcrawler in X3, Allen Cummings has said that FOX decided not to option him for the roll (he was signed to do 2 movies) so Nightcrawler could be in it but by a different actor which I doubt.
