Everything has been tilted about 45 degrees counter clockwise, to the right of her head you can see a balcony railing, once you see that it's pretty clear.

Look at her belt, the coin pouch is hanging down, use that to re-orient the picture, and as Arionhawk says the ladder looking thing in the background is a Balcony railing.

I try not to crit much in fan-art threads (unless asked) because many of the artists are showing purely to express their love for the material, and not to get feedback on technique.

On DA or artist forums like ConceptArt or Penciljack, critique is part of the point of showing your work  there. You don't want to post to CA unless you're ready to stand beside your work. But here it's a different environment.

I rather like the extreme angle, it enhances the sense of Vin just kind of casually defying the laws of physics as we know them. :)

You're right.

 Usually I don't either it was just really buggin' me.  I once got torn to shreds on CA's sculpture forums. That was a looooooong time ago.  :D
