Look, I enjoyed playing this game. But I'd be hard pressed to think of why you should buy it instead of something like Risk 2210 or Axis and Allies. For the first, the only advantage it really has is the WWII instead of SF feel, though I can see some people preferring the more complex combat system. For the latter, well, it does let you start in a way OTHER than your 5 standard nations.

Actually, I take it back. The game does offer a more interesting combat approach that makes you think of more than just overwhelming (which is really hard to do) and that gives it an advantage in both realms. Anyway, the problem is I don't recommend playing just the basic set. Too much is missing. On the other hand, getting the basic set AND the expansion can be expensive. And there's not really a reason for them to be so separate. After taking apart the pieces, all the stuff for both boxes condensed into one.
