Better luck next time, consoles

If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Damn, links gone. It was an analysis of the hardware capabilities of the next gen consoles. Basically - the GPU's are good, but the CPU's are worse than the current pc ones, and will slow the consoles down a great deal.

Eh, I don't believe it.  The Cell possessor is faster then anything that Intel or AMD can make and is already being used to make super computers.

Again this just shows Slash-dot's inbred hatred of things that don't follow into their narrow views of how things should be.

Actually, the stats show consoles capable of pushing amazing numbers of polygons abnd amazing graphics, but also having crippled the ability to do interesting AI.

Because, y'know, the people with all the money are casual gamers, and they'll buy anything that looks good.

Casual Gamers are destroying gaming.
Go go super JP newbie slapdown force! - Entropy

Spriggan, they have good theoretical abilities, but the articles writers spoke to developers who said that in reality they are horribly designed, with loads of bottlenecks and low processing reality.

wow. What's he's saying about splitting code into threads is a much more technical way of what I've been saying for years: that programmers need to work on making code better rather than just waiting for the hard drive and the processors and the memory to get bigger and faster.

Guess some people aren't having any problems with the XBox 306's chip

You can tell the cars are rendered but my word those backgrounds are flawless.
