Role-Playing Games / Re: Forsakers, how to destroy.
« on: August 02, 2004, 03:59:57 PM »
Well, that session came and went...

He killed the Cleric of Bane on first site, the cleric was only in game for five minutes. (he arrived late) Shortly after that, he killed my character LN Human Fighter, then the remainder of the party quit. Our DM shocked...

Well, we have banned the class Forsaker from future use, and the feat Monkey Grip.

Role-Playing Games / Re: Roleplaying Superstition

From recent experience, i have found that games that require the random rolling of dice or choosing of cards is purely pschological. I made myself act overly-optimistic to the point of stupidity while playing Monopoly with a group of friends. I owned them two games in a row. Of course, this was after a long-awaited session in our DM's on-going campaign. All was good.

Role-Playing Games / Re: D&D The Movie 2
« on: August 02, 2004, 03:50:58 PM »
Well, although it sounds like crap, and probably will be, I didnt like the first one at all. I feel that the maker's of the film have no real knowledge of D&D.

The lead character in the first changed classes four times. He started as a rogue, multi-classed into fighter, at the end knighted and followed a Lawful Good Paladin's role, and at the very end as they all are teleported away, he had to have a few innate levels in Sorcerer...

Yeah, i'm a little over-analytical, but i find it amusing.

The second film is likely to be graphic oriented with a cheesy plot and bad acting, especially the casting of the lead roles...i dont care for either actor.

(Been away for awhile, my computer has been down. Happily, i have returned in pieces.)

Actually, the Legend of Zelda movie would never work. Link doesnt have a speaking voice. He'd have to grunt through the whole movie. Funny. ;D

Video Games / Re: news item: Mage Knight game

Mage Knight is terrible. I thought the greatest use for the pieces after my friends and i could no longer afford to pay so much for plastic pieces was to tear them off their bases and use them as miniatures for D&D.

I've only heard "Take Me Out" and another about the Matinee. I, personally, enjoy their music. The music video for "Take Me Out" was good too.

Books / Re: Wheel of Time

I was forced through the first three, which i thought were great, and now i've stopped for the moment...a LONG moment...for a rest of his nonsense.

I have determined a formula for the series i think may need some revision and i dont mind if you help.

1. All characters begin in last location of previous book. All then note that they must "all" go to point D or be accidently led there by Rand's influence.

2. Haphazardly stumble around points A-C without accomplishing anything but splitting the group into three new, equally boring groups.

3. Now with one group each in points A, B, and C, they all decide that they "should" go to point D after all.

4. After much boring, useless detail and character flaws mentioned in their own heads, they do go to point D.

5. Point D is the battlefield of some climatic event near the end of the book to get you excited about getting the next one and reading it through.

6. You come to the realization of this pattern and stop reading, for the series could have ended nicely after book three.

7. Kick friend who introduced you to books.

8. Find Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, and have a good read.

The last few were for humor, but the rest were nearly intelligent. I didnt like how each character was afraid of their own abilities, and unconfident, regardless of the situation.

Jordan spent a lot of time telling the reader that the characters needed to be somewhere, only for four chapters of useless running around was complete for everyone to know where to go and when. I wish they could be more like a D&D session, the DM explains something while another character was not present, but the player was. When the character returns, we "tell him what happened" as though he had been there the whole time.

Books / Re: So...what's everyone reading?

I'm currently reading Isaac Asimov's Prelude to Foundation. a very interesting book if i may add. I saw commercials for a movie based on one of his books, I, Robot. Will Smith, i think, was not the best choice of actor...

that would definitly have made a better movie had that happened. I could see the film being a bit shortened, but hey, who wouldnt pay to see Legolas kill about four guys with one arrow and the Hulk smash people in the same fashion except with feet and arms. lol

While i was in the theatre watching Troy my friends and i saw the trailer for Catwoman. Immediatley as it began another man from the crowd said in an obviously overhearable voice, "She should fire her hiring agent." Needless to say, we all cracked up until the movie started. It was funnier if you were there, i'm aware what i quoted wasnt exactly funny, nor remotely funny.

perhaps a movie, or line of movies, based on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Hmm...that seems all too predictable with LOTR out already. A Legend of Zelda movie is rather unpredictable, i'd pay to see it. ONLY if Link is the adult version...not that gay little "Young Link" they have tagged him with all the credit of the other games LoZ:1-7....grrrr
