I just see so many people misspelling "yeah" as "yea" that I got reverse-confused.
Or people spelling "yay" as "yeah."  I hate that.  Grrr.

(On the other hand, I am loving Mad Dr. Jeffe's Fizzgig avatar.)

Rants and Stuff / Re: Quark disinheriting the Quantum Duck?!?!

I seem to remember having a wake for the Quantum Duck when I was in Quark.  It may have been around the passing of Gene Roddenberry and we were conflating it (the duck) with the Great Bird of the Galaxy.

Hexwood is very cool.  It's been quite a while since I've read it--I should go see if our library here has a copy.

Does anyone have any insight into what exactly happens at the end of Fire and Hemlock?

There are a few things that I'm not comfortable with (there's one episode where Inara has a female client, which is just a bit much for me).  Definitely not the sort of thing you can just casually pop in with the kids around.

My feelings about Buffy/Angel are "meh" at best (I've watched a few episodes rather half-heartedly), but my husband and I both really enjoy Firefly.  I got him the DVDs for his birthday.  We find they hold up well under repeat viewing.

But we wouldn't have this problem in Esperanto.  Errr...would we?

That's quite a list!

It's hard being both a descriptivist and an elitist sometimes, so I apologize if it comes off as confusing.

This made me laugh.

Hey Peter, remember the guy at Marcon that had "John Williams' Greatest Hit" on his keyboard?  The Star Wars song reminded me of that.

British-ish.  Heh.

(I did a search and nothing came up, so I'll apologize if this has been mentioned before.)

Check out Harry Potter (the faux British version is good for a laugh, too.  Well, maybe just a giggle.  Or a snicker.)  and the Star Wars song.

Rants and Stuff / Re: Name that car

I rather like the name Wilson for a car.  It's kind of like naming a dog Jeff or Steve.

Is it possible that Iorek is pronounced rather like "Yorick"?

Our car needs a name too.  The truck was easy (Lukey--it's green) but this one is giving us some trouble.

It's not just symbolic, it's allegorical, even.  Pretty blatant.

My husband finds Narnia annoying for some reason.  I do have all the books in hardback (ran out and finished my collection in a hurry when I realized they'd been renumbered--blasphemy!)  but I haven't read them for a quite a while.  I suppose I shall have to do that before the movie comes out.

The Straight Dope's Cafe Society board is a great place for book ID's.  You can get a free guest membership for thirty days, I think.  (If you do post, bookmark the thread, because guests can't search.)
