I'm sorry if theres already a simpsons one but The Simpsons needed a forum. They're so cool.
-
While Simpsons are still mildly amusing and have cemented a place in pop-culture, they currently have stayed around for too long.
-
If they make a wide array of new episodes, then it could go on for over 100 years. It's, in my opinion, the best Tv show around.
I look angry at you
-
Their current stuff isn't nearly as funny as their stuff from, say, five or six years ago. I honestly don't think they can keep it up much longer.
-
No! No! Raktor...
When inserting notes about your physical actions you must make them red.
For example:
Skar shoves a ketchup bottle up Raktor's nose and touches his brain.
-
With the bottle or just afterward with your hand?
-
With the tip of the bottle.
-
Tenderly?
-
Tenderlion?
-
Vigorously.
-
Tenderizingly.
-
Do I need to explain to everyone about the action command?
/me does something violent to dankezman pretending to be someone else
this renders as :
/me does something violent to dankezman pretending to be someone else
Unfortunately, the forum doesn't seem to care for my current display name
-
That never adds my name into the code so I usally have to add it myself.
-
/me has no problem with it.
-
I wish to disagree the simpson will reign over TV for ages
* I am angry at doubters
-
Is that right?
E, Faster Master St. Pastor, Sprigg, Archon and Mad Dr. Jeffe.
Sorry if your name is not there or is there for no reason, I just recalled the people I know well
-
Raknor
I wish to disagree
Don't just wish - do it now from only $19.99 on www.disagree.com.
:oDouble post! And you forgot me!
-
Sorry I forgot Tade and Skarbunny
-
Why are you invoking our names again? I can honestly say I dont know who the heck you are.
-
I mean it like your one of the well known figures on this site. I've heard your name around and thought you might be involved in the telling me about how to do the red writing.
-
If he's who he says he is; Dankezman's brother, then he doesn't know anybody well. Is there a possibility...no...he can't be...
-
Just coz i'm new doesn't mean I haven't looked at many forums just because I know a few members names isn't a reason to call me Dankezman
-
I hearby declare that people who aren't regulars are not allowed to alter their names to coincide with holidays. Because, who the crap is Rak-Eastor-Bunny?
-
House o Mustard, if that is your real name. Just because i'm still considered a noob doesn't mean i'm not a regular. Let me introduce myself, Raktor or now Rak-Eastor-Bunny. I have a profile on the introduce yourself forum.
-
yeah, being a newbie does make you not a regular. Sorry.
"Regulars" have established presences. Newbies, by definition, do not.
-
Precisely, e.
HoM also raises an astute point: what the heck is with your name? (Near as I can tell, he's skinned a bunny rabbit and slapped it on a "rak" to grill up for dinner. That or it's totally random. Annoyingly so, actually....)
-
HOLY CRAP! I just read Rak's introduction. It says he's from Chelmsford. Isn't that in England? So English is his FIRST language?
I now formally reprimand all you other regulars for making fun of a retard.
/me slaps himself for good measure.
-
I can't believe you all encourage this kind of behavior.
;)
Rak-whatever his name is needs to learn not to start a thread unless he has something to *say* on the topic.
-
Well i have something to say on the topic...
The Simpsons rock, the worst episode showing now is still good for a laugh, which is pretty impressive.
Oh and they got picked up for 2 more years.
-
You suck. Raktor, shut up already.
-
Who sucks? Jeffe or Raktor?
-
It's a generic statement aimed at mostly everyone.
-
Well i have something to say on the topic...
The Simpsons rock, the worst episode showing now is still good for a laugh, which is pretty impressive.
But you still haven't really said anything. Why does the show rock? Why is it funny? Is it the animation? The social commentary? The guest stars? Simply saying "XYZ rocks" isn't adding anything to the discussion. Except another post I have to skim through.
On second thought, there have already been two pages on this topic and not one substantive thing has been said. I have wasted time: the ultimate vindication of both the site and the thread. Carry on.
-
actually the announcement you decided to leave out in your shoddy attack was the important part. you know the one where the simpsons was picked up for 2 more seasons.
Fade away little newb.
Fade away.
-
I have graduated from noob to newb! I roxxor!
-
but you arnt haxxor
-
I think the Simpsons are funny, because the animation and jokes in the script together make it funny. I think the simpsons can last for many years to come because of their stance in modern day TV. They are arguably the best show on the box. If they can amuse kids and adults for 16 years why can't they go for longer
-
I like the Simpsons, but I would be very surprised if anyone could successfully argue that it's the "best show on the box." Maybe--maybe--in its heyday, but no longer. Of course, if you want to try to argue this, I'd be happy to listen, but you'll have to be more specific than "the animation and jokes in the script together make it funny."
-
I have waited and waited to hear something substantive about my show. Honestly, it's like listening to Homer and Bart at the dinner table, the way you all squabble and can't stay on the subject. If someone could be a little analytical like Lisa and point out all of the social relevance or the moral overtones, such as the fact that we are one of the only intact families in primetime TV, that our religious fanatic is simply an extremely, intensively religious man, rather than a psychotic-religious-fanatical-killer, that our parodies stay spot on, that celebrities from every discipline line up to guest star or even do a quick self-parodying cameo, that even though the writing has slipped in consistency in the past three years, it still has more hits than misses. Please children, stay on topic.
-
Well, I think it's ironic you say that because my mom wouldn't let us watch the Simpsons because she felt that they were a bad example on how you should treat your family. It's interesting how two moms could see the same show totally differently!
-
Now you know why Mustard and I grew up the way we did.
-
Huh, and I always thought you had been dropped on your head as a baby... :)
-
Fellsmum, its hard to find a good place to start with the Simpsons. Its such a huge topic. I could focus on the family, and the horrible relations they seem to have, or how any one of the Simpsons interact with the world, or I could focus on what the other characters have turned out to be. I think I'll begin by focusing on Ned. Why Ned? Because he asked for it. Ned Flanders and Family is supposed to be the counterpoint to the Simpsons. He's religious, to the point of fanaticism, he's prosperous (or at least always more prosperous on the outside than the simpsons) he never gets angry, has two nice boys (ok so they are a bit creepy) and until recently a loving wife. Flanders has good things going for him. But bad stuff still happens to him, he loses his way, his sanity and his wife and has to figure out a new way of living. I like that. Its sort of a relgious people are humans too point of view.
His point of view without the simpsons is well meaningless. Homer is the direct opposite, he's loud, boastful, drunk. sacriligious (mmmm Sacrilicous) and vain. He also cares deeply about his friends and family. Homers not a bright guy but he loves his family even if it drives him crazy. I appreciate that the Simpsons bicker, and argue, and fight and frankly act like a real family because no other program does that.
Ok, maybe I should stop before I write a book. I fear Im not being coherant due to a pesky fever right now.
-
(mmmmm, feverish Jeffe.)
-
ummm that was kind of creepy.
-
I think that zipped right by "kinda" creepy and is solidly in the territory of "stalker" creepy.
-
Creepy, yes, but dang funny.
-
Bwahahaha! You guys are *so* dang easy! Ahhh, what fun... ;D
-
Yeah Im easy because I did have a stalker in high school who threatened to kill herself daily and spread lies to my girlfriend to wreck my life. Following me around all the time in her car wasn't cool either.
-
Doh!! :-/
*sigh* Holy crap, yeah, sorry to dredge up those extremely freaky memories. Wouldn't have made the wise crack if I'd been remotely aware of that history, I assure you. :-X
Um, so... how about that Satan's Little Helper? Ain't he a just the bestest dog ever?
-
Im more a fan of Santa's little helper myself.
-
Well, you're right. He's cool too. ;) I guess you never saw the lost episodes where Bart has this other dog called Satan's Little Helper. I'll agree with ya that he traded up, though, with the one he has now.
/me feels silly that "Satan" was on her brain so much as she typed her penitent apology that she woefully mistyped the name of Bart's beloved canine.
-
"A quarter? well your just the dog that keeps on giving arent you?"
-
*sniff* Fine. Be that way. Here I was, just trying to offer my apologies. At least I got a quarter out of the deal...
-
sniff if you must... I was quoting the sage Bart Simpson in the "Laddie" episode.
-
We just watched the Pieman episode from 2004, and it was hilarious. I'm not sure why people say the Simpsons is going downhill. If this is downhill, it's got a heck of a long way down left to go.
