RSS for TWG

(1/3) > >>

Spriggan:
I'm currently working on XML RSS feed for the Timewasters guide.  It will use both .91 and 2.0.  What's RSS?  well you get program that receves any feeds that you have subscribed to and when ever that site updates you'll be notified, it's differnt then a standard newsletter and such.  The TWG version would send you the blog anouncing new articles that appear on the main page.  A person will also have the options to choose which deparment updates they want.  So if you only care about RPG's then you'll only be notified when new RPG articles are posted.  We can even go as far as adding RSS feeds to the "alternate relaties" forum games, so people are notified of posts with the post context itself.  But I would rather add this to the new PHP forum Tage is developing, mainly because I don't know perl that well and don't want to research the code for it.  I should have it working by next week I just don't have as much time as before.  It's not 100% that we'll use it (Fell being MIA has hinderd my ability to talk to him about this),  let me know what you think and convince Fell that it's cool.

Spriggan:
Well I found a realy cool PHP RSS generator, why code it yourself when you can get it for free.  With the way Tage set up the deparments pages adding this will be realy simple because I can use the exact code we use for listing blogs to tell this code what and how much to place into the RSS feed.  Tage your a genius.

Tage:
Oh yeah, sure. I, uh, designed it with that in mind. Totally.

Spriggan:
no I ment you designed something that can be easly used for something that it wasn't intended for.   But I spoke to soon, it's going to be easier to make a standard MySQL query then your getblurbs function.

EUOL:
Be sure to include the takyon regresser in the photon regurgitator, then focus it through the pattern buffer and the dish, separate the saucer section, overload your phasers, and route it all through my communicator.  Oh, and use Data's brain for something.
