If I were able to buy the plane ticket and con ticket I'd go. But well, money is tightly tied around my thighs and so that will most likely be an unablely, unless I get a loan.

For those of you who were at WorldCon last year: do you remember the guy during the Hugos awards ceremony who (it looked like) ran up to accept his Campbell Award (remember? THIS IS NOT A HUGO, over and over?). And all that hair he had as he ran?

Turns out, he wasn't running. He stumbled up the stairs. He was watching himself on the screen and not paying attention to where he was walking!

His name is Jay--can't remember the last name. I just met him tonight--he sat at my table at the Writers of the Future dinner. My coworker and I got to go because our boss and his boss (the longtime people who would have KNOWN all these people) were at GenCon. Good food, man. And a free dinner, can't pass that up.

Hey guys, this is coming up in a little over a week. I need to know when you'll be arriving in town. I also emailed Chimera about a few logistics, and probably should send MsFish the same email.

EDIT: EUOL has my phone number still, I think. Give me a call sometime early next week to arrange things, sound good?

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Stacer--

Are you still at the 875 number?  Cause I have that one still from February.  I'll call ya when we get things figured out.

I can't wait to see you!

Ookla--yes, I got it. I meant to email you to let you know it arrived, then got distracted and had since forgotten. Whoops! I'll be sending you a check sometime in the next couple weeks, if that's okay.

Ms. Fish--Yes, 857 number. I didn't bother to change it here, too much of a hassle with renewing the contract for another two years just to change your number. So I'll look for your call. Just be sure to call in the evenings or on Saturday or Sunday, because it's hard for me to hear my cell at work. Of course, if you still miss me, I'll call you back ASAP. :)

I need to look up how much I paid for it. I know it was less than the current cost.

Overall, a nice weekend. We'll have pictures for y'all sometime soon. I only had 8 exposures left on my last roll of film, and I'm not sure when I'll develop it, but MsFish took a lot of digital pictures that we'll be posting soon.

My highlight of the weekend: I was in a YA panel, as an audience member. Not one YA person was a panelist in the whole con--there were a few new YA authors, but no experts in the field. (Between me, Chimera, and MsFish, we got pretty frustrated with the YA offerings at this con--lots of people wanting to know what it is, and few people being able to tell them.) A Del Rey adult SFF editor was on the panel, and she asked if there were any audience members who were librarians who could define YA for them. I raised my hand and said, "Well, I'm not a librarian, but I do have a master's in children's literature, and I'm a children's book editor..."

She invited me up on the panel!  :D  That was a blast. I should have signed to be a panelist, really. But I will be one in the future, if not for this one, for Worldcon next year or for Norwescon, etc.

EUOL, Chimera, CtrlZed, and MsFish, in addition to me.

Y'know, if I'd thought to volunteer to be a panelist, I wouldn't have had to pay for the registration. Ookla, let me know privately how much I owe you.

Stacer was amazingly nice to let us stay with her. She's super cool, and took us on a tour of Wizards of the Coast as well, where we got lots of free stuff.

Seattle is a great city. I hope to go back someday--preferably while stacer is there, so I can stay with her again.  :)

The con was pretty good--some things could definitely have been improved upon, but overall I feel I got my money's worth (if nothing else from the complimentary food--I spent a lot of time in that room ;D). It was just fun to hang out with everyone, too. Oh, and I got to meet Robin Hobb and get a book signed. Yay!

That's a little more of a full report. I also made a fuller professional report at work which I'll adapt and post when I get to work.

Hey, any of you four who drove up here last weekend want to email me and tell me how much it cost in gas total? I just got tickets to Conference and am wondering whether it's cheaper to fly or drive. I'm soliciting riders in the local wards, but it might be easier just to fly. Fiona lives downtown anyway, so I wouldn't really need a car (as long as anyone who wants to see me is willing to come to Salt Lake to do so :) ).
