The new version will include significant upgrades, including playable jedi, but the biggest cause for joy are the space battles: imagine being on a ship during an invasion, firing a few shots from the laser turret, running down to fight off an invasion, then hopping into a fighter and zooming out to attack the enemy or even board their ship. Sweet.

Ok. I never did get around to playing the first one due to the reviews I received from the twg, but this one looks significantly better. Any thouhts?

The first one wasn't bad. The maps were tight so you didn't have miles to cross on a map. Plus I think the classes were fairly balanced. That Jedi thing though was kind of silly since the AI was at times, completely dumb. But yeah, it was above so so.

Ok
1
need bigger maps if you are going to have aircraft
2
THIS IS THE BIG IMPORTANT ONE
Need to release the SDK to allow user created maps
3
This is the EVEN BIGGER ONE
Cut Back the throughput and bring the netcode down to a reasonable rate so that typical gamers can host a decent game on a T1
(Battlefront had a 50k per player rate, in comparison CS is 5k)

Caught a sneak peek at the LucasArts booth at C3 last week. Looks pretty good.
You can even sprint now! Wooo!
The map they showed for the demo was the Tantive IV (for you non-geeks, that's Leia's ship in the original Star Wars).
They said Jedi are something you have to earn the right to play in MP maps. Should you start sabering your buddies, you'll lose the right and have to earn it again.
The story mode will encompass Episodes 2 through 6 and focus on the clones and their evolution.
They also mentioned new vehicles (in addition to spacecraft) but didn't say what was coming.
