Moving
« on: April 15, 2005, 03:03:00 PM »
So, I'm moving tomorrow.  If anyone wants to help, I'd love to have you.  I don't have much to offer, except blessings in heaven (I've got lots of them -- I'll be handing them out when you come).

I've got plenty of help moving out of my old place, but I'm hurting on help moving into the new.

The address:
1601 W. Foxpark Dr., #6J
West Jordan, UT

(Take the 90th South exit on I-15, and head west to 1600 W -- the first street before Redwood Road.)

About 11:30am.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

Are you saying everyone wants to help you go away but no one wants to help you move closer?

I hadn't thought of it that way, but... yes.

My ward is wonderful at helping -- ten or twelve guys will show up without even having to ask for them.  But they stand on the curb and wave as you go.

heh. I wanna be in your elder's quorum

I move tomorrow too. The EQ Pres talked to my wife earlier and asked if we'd found anyone to help. I hadn't because, y'know, the EQ Pres said he would round up a few guys to help. so... hopefully I'll have half a dozen people here tomorrow to help me lift furniture. I'm not looking forward to doing those shelves by myself.

I'd help but I'm in Provo and have no car.  Sorry!

I unfortuantely will be sleeping tomorrow morning after I get off work, then I have my Mom's 60th B-Day party to go to tomorrow early afternoon.

So afraid all I can do is wish you well with your move, HoM.

Same for you, e.

Having no car is no excuse -- just hitch a ride with Tage, because he's totally coming.

I am totally coming, so huzzah. I can't offer rides, though, because my car is full. Sorry, Fish.

I'm totally coming, but only if:
1) I'm awake
2) I'm in the mood to lug a bunch of heavy crap around for hours

I figured this was as good a place as any to put this: Remind me never to use movers again. That was more of a headache (literally) than any moving experience I've ever had. I so much prefer the pack-it-yourself, rent a Uhaul, and round up all your friends to bring things in and out. There were only two of them! When I ask the elders' quorum for help, there are usually at least 4 or 5 guys. Who usually tease me the rest of the year for how much stuff I have, and avoid me anytime I mention I might be moving again--but still! Much more efficient, and I have control over my stuff. I know it'll be in that Uhaul till I take it out again, and it's only my fault if it gets damaged.

I think next time, even if it's another cross-country move, I'll go back to my old habits. Then again, I might be thankful for not having to break my own and all my friends' backs in a couple weeks when I move in, and I won't have had to drive literally from one coast to the other. Whatever, sending my stuff off with strangers is a very uncomfortable experience.

Wait until you unpack your stuff to make that decision. Cross-country by yourself is a *very* long drive. Think of how many movies you've watched and non-fast-food you've eaten during the days you would otherwise have been driving.
