I think the use of the Eye of the World pure saidin may be the ticket there as to why the Creator chose to speak at that moment. It just seems interesting that for a Deity that tends to take a back seat to events he takes a hand here to stop Rand from going to far.

Yeah the last thing we want is this thread to turn into a flame war and having it locked. We don't all have to be friends but we can be civil.

As for the Voice heard at Tarwin Gap I'm starting to wonder about it being the DO. I mean if he is challenging Rand to try and do what he needs to do as opposed to just giving up or giving in to the DO. It would be interesting if it was the Creator as that would be the only instance of him saying anything or doing anything. It is odd though what was Rand attempting that he shouldn't attempt yet?

If the Creator was judging Rand not ready to face the DO yet how will Rand know he is ready? Will there be some divine sign or something? I really did like the thought Rand was having about the last three seals "It would only take one person with a hammer to smash all three". It made me think of Perrin and what if they declared their readiness by smashing the three seals? Afterall the rubble needs to be cleared before the Bore can be remade again or resealed.

That's what I thought originally as well but then there was a description about his hair being lanky, so it didn't fit the image. Plus I've always though that Tear was Spain with the armor descriptions.

I guess it's only important on what certain characters look like, like Rand and his whole Aiel heritage.

Yes JoeC has read about Melindhra so you didn't spoil anything *heh*

Yeah Elaida I believe has been debated on whether she's even black or white, sometimes the descriptions can be so vague I'm just not sure. Like Julin Sandor I don't know if he's supposed to be Hispanic, black or white with a really dark tan. I guess sometimes authors like to allow some vagueness to let the readers paint what the character looks like themselves.

Yes padywhak and douglas, that mystery.

BTW I've gotten one of my friend hooked into the WoT series so he's doing a reading through of it now as well. It is fun to get a fresh perspective on the story.

The ending of this book is amazing, btw.
I don't know, I think I prefer the ending of the next one.  Dumai's Wells...

It depends on what you like for an ending, I think Joe will have a very good question at the end of tFoH. I know I can't wait.

Some of those actions she took because Alvarin said to take them even if she didn't think they were a good idea. Until eventually she had the idea that perhaps Alvarin was BA and then picked out some AS to sniff out the BA.

Actually, Elaida was just trying to get Alviarin in trouble for countermanding her orders. The Aes Sedai she went to, Pevara, thought Elaida was trying to imply a search for the Black Ajah without saying it. Of course, Alviarin should get caught in both cases.

Yeah I guess your right it's more like Elaida is pulling a homer, catching the crook without actually trying to catch one. I am hoping for some public trails of Black Ajah's and Forsaken I so want to see some executions *heh*

They probably plan on a one game per movie type of thing. Just as is done with the Harry Potter movies/games. In my experience, such movie-based games are usually a quite boring version of the movie were you'll have to walk through the story yourself.

But who knows, maybe they'll do better :)

Movies dont make good games... Games dont make good movies..... Fact!

Opinion.

Just remember Moggy has numerous honey colored braids and Lanfear has free flowing straight black hair. That ought to help *heh*

I'm still trying to figure out if you are A) joking, B) trying to throw them off the scent, or C) mis-remembering.

You mean she doesn't have honey colored braids? Could swear she did.

Can't wait for you to finish this book as it was one of my personal favorites.

Maybe that's what I found off putting with the second book, the chase was over so to speak. They had each other but they still had some road blocks but it just didn't feel the same way it did when they first saw each other in that first ball scene. I mean it felt like something was missing and I just wasn't sure what it was.

Kelsier to me wasn't a side character, he was Vin's Old Wise man, her Dumbledore, Merlin and Gandalf.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Sex and sexuality in the Mistborn series...missing?

Some of this thread reminds me of this, and I'm guilty of it too:

It's just so hard to stop yourself, especially when there's nothing productive to come of it.  And I have one weird quirk in that I do not get offended by much of anything, so my barometer is sometimes off when trying to judge if what I say would offend another.

Ryanjim That is the best webcomic EVER! That just made my night.

I really like this topic because I also noticed a lack of the sexuality and I really don't mean sexual actions as I have seen posted in this thread. This doesn't mean I think it's error nor even soley based on Brandon's religious beliefs as Sazed is I think proof otherwise. It's just I am used to many fantasy Authors Jordan, GRRM, and Goodkind having it to some degree. I think Jordan's is the best out of those three as usually you do fade out and it's the next day or whatever. I think the way Brandon used it just goes to show it isn't needed to be shown on page as much as some do it.

I think some are forgetting that the characters Elend and Vin really do have a background to be reticent about sex. Vin having major trust issues and Elend being traumatized about his first time, so I can see them not wanting to rush it. I think Vin and Elend are also just people who aren't as into sex as some others are, like Breeze. I think there are authors who go over board with it and you wonder if your reading a story or a porn. Don't get me wrong I think Sex is great as well but like with anything you can have too much. These two characters just don't obsess over it is all.

I really don't know how or if it will really effect aMoL at all but it will be interesting to see. I guess the oddness is that I found more sexual tension in a Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione kisses in Deathly Hallows then I did in most of Vin/Elend's kisses. *shrug*
