Ages, huh?  His first novel was published 6 years ago.  Now, while I have become a huge BWS fan, and have read all his books, I find myself wanting more information about the worlds he creates.  I understand why he was writing small, but I am looking forward to his first Epic, and writing Wot will no doubt only make him better.

6 years is a long time to say i can't really say i've been reading "grown up" novels for more than 10 years. :) And nooooo, please Brandon, don't learn from Jordan too much and start writing "Epic" books ("Epic" from the above comment i'm reading as long, slow, overly descriptive and trying to be clever reads with plot used as a tool to peice the description together rather than the focus of the book). Your books are ace and shouldn't change a bit.

Also, you should write more on Warbreaker universe, magic from colours is ace.

You honestly think RJ and Tor couldn't have made as much, if not more, money by closing this series and writing outriggers?

Yes - After reading WoT the first time i wouldn't have bought any more of Jordans books on other series/same world. If you say "I'm going to write a 10 book series" then do it in 10 books. Not wait until 1000's have bought 7-8 of them and then think "Oh, i'm getting a good amount of cash from this, i'll keep going". RJ could have easily fit the plot that has/will happened in 10 books, heck, he could have done it in 6-7 really juicy fantastic books instead of drawing it ever outward.

As Brandon has shown by him writing just one of the books and it being action packed and containing as much plot as the last 5 books combined.

Well Brandon has gone on record saying he's planning a 10 book epic called "Way of Kings"

I thought Rand was avoiding Min and Min let him b/c she was scared that her precense hurt him... i got the impression Rand was the instigator not Min.

This was the same scenario after Dumai Wells, but in this case she let him wall up rather than stopping him or trying to get him to open up again. That is my main problem with the scenario. It seemed out of character for her

The difference between Dumai Wells and what happened with Semi is that Rand directly hurt her. She knows it wasn't him and that he fought it ever step of the way however it was still traumatizing. Besides she seemed pretty fixated with Herid Fel's books and theories, which was something that developed shortly after his death. She like Avi wants to prove herself useful, as the scene with Semi finally drove home. Min can be great with knives all she wants but when it comes to channelers she might as well not even be there. She did more harm then good and that again is another difference between Dumai Wells and the choking scene.

Well I do agree that Brandon is doing a great job on the books.

I just don't think Verin's reveal was a curall, it did help get rid of the BA out of the Tower but they are still alive and out there. There is still a Forsaken, Messanna in the Tower along with the Four Seachan assassins. At any rate they had found a way to confirm who was a BA with the Oath Rod so Egwene would have done the Re-swearing without Verin's big reveal. I am also certain that Verin's reveal was in RJ's notes and it was just a way to wrap up all the Verin plot threads. I don't know how this scene would have happened had it just been RJ but I liked it anyways.

People have been debating that Verin was BA for years now, where you've been Bookstore guy? There was a line somewhere in the books about her making a "mistake 70 years ago" and that she wasn't going to let it go to waste or something like that. So yes I think there is back up for Verin being a double agent, ever since she said those fateful words "Moriane Sent me, Lord Agelmar"

Hi JoeC,

Glad you enjoyed the latest installment of the WoT books. I think the thing I enjoyed the most was when I opened to the title page and there stamped under the title was Rj's autograph. Having read his books since I was in HS (approx. 13 years ago) and I knew that I would never be able to meet the man and get this autograph. So this was the next best thing and apparently this was thanks to Brandon. That just makes him awesome I think.

As for the writing I thought this was an excellent addition to the series and I haven't had as much fun with the books since 4 and 5. I enjoyed the dark path and climax of Rand's journey in this story, I was truly afraid for his sanity as well for the safety of Min. I thought that Tam calling Cadsuane a bully was as excellent as her getting Semiraghe spanked to humiliate her. Pride seems to be a great flaw amongst many of the WoT characters. I wonder what Rand will be like now that he has found his sense of humor again, remember though he can laugh he is still damaged from the Taint and linked to Moridin. Plus the dual scars on his side and he used TP so that may tempt him again... Rand he may be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel but he is not out of the forest yet.

Course that's not taking into account the other messes Rand needs to clean up, Bandar Eban, the Borderlanders in Far Madding, the Black Tower, and possibly Lan Irtulde. There's also debate on if Greandal is really dead or not, theories that she either used a Compulsion weave that would disapate or someone else put that weave.

What little we get of Perrin was good, with hints of some really great stuff to look forward to in ToM. I loved that Faile took care of Masema, she finally did something useful.

Egwene was probably the best part of the books watching that story come to a climax, Verin's sacrfice was a heartbreaking part for me since she was one of my most liked characters. Seems she was BA all along lol. People should know that Messana is apparently still in the Tower and the Four Bloodwrasps are still unaccounted for.

Mat I know has had the most controversal part, many feeling his character was off from the previous books. I think Brandon explains it best by saying Mat's world has been turned upside down here now that he is married, he is trying to figure out how to deal with that fact. I feel as well that for the first time in a long time he's primarly surrounded by people he trusts, no Seachan or numerous AS to worry about to keep secrets from. I think he's still a man who doesn't want to wear the label Hero even if it is true of him.

I actually think the Ajah's should not only remain but the Asha'man would do well to have them. It keeps their order organized though I have a feeling the Channelers of both groups are going to have to evolve and change once TG is done.

I think Brandon has succeded with tGS and I can't wait to see ToM, aMoL and his own Epic fantasy series.

Slayer did kill some of the BA in the Tear that the Wondergirls had locked up.

I was under the impression that Ruin needed a major power boost and the Atium would do just that since it was his body. I think he needed that boost so he could finish destroying the world.

I agree Publius75, it's the waiting for the next book that really hurts the books. When I first read the later books, after having to wait 2-3 years I really didn't care about the minor characters, I saw them as keeping me away from the characters I DID want to read. Now with that waiting out of the equation it IS alot easier to appreciate books 8-10.

shadow9d9  your really going to miss out on a good series and it's a shame you don't have enuogh faith in Brandon's judgement to complete this series. Do you think Brandon would waste his time on a series of books that he didn't think worth finishing?

Was afraid of that.  But considering book 10 got 1500 1 stars out of 2400 reviews, and he is a known padder, it just doesn't make sense for me to waste my time reading 1000s of pages of description just to enjoy more sanderson books.

Oh well.

You'll never know unless you try it for yourself. Book 10 may not be his best book but it's ALOT better then some books I've read and wish I had NEVER read.

Didn't he have one of this publisher friends read the book and say they were completly lost because they hadn't read the previous 11 books?

Sanderson has said that writing the WoT book has caused his writing to grow, that he's had to do research he doesn't nomally do. Sun Tzo is one of those things Warbreaker is supposed to be a hint at how much his writing has changed.

I fear for the fates of Eliadia, Messanna and Alvarin.
I'm not sure I read that right.  Don't you mean you're gloating over what seems likely to happen to them soon?  Especially Elaida; that woman deserves demotion to Novice for a decade plus a daily penance equal to the worst she has ever assigned, minimum, for sheer blind arrogant stupidity.

Yes Douglas, once again it's impossible to get the right voice inflection expressed over the internet. I probably could have worded it better. *heh*

Yeah Nynaeve has complete faith in Lan being able to ride to Tarwin Gap, fighting there however is another story which is why she bought herself and Lan time for an Army to be with or waiting for him at the Gap. Truly I expect an epic scene worthy of Lord of the Rings titanicly awesome battle.

I really loved Eggy's story in this book and was surprised by what she had decided to do. Truly it's brilliant, reduce AS casualities to nill, keep her army plus the Tower Guards intact and become Amrlyn seat to boot. She's got a head on her shoulders and I can't wait to see what else she does. I fear for the fates of Eliadia, Messanna and Alvarin.

Yeah now you have to wait with the rest of us *heh* Reading other books does help pass the time. Once you read up more on the WoT Faq you can take part in theory debates like Who Killed Asmo.

Where did you learn the names of Ruin and Preservation?

So in the past channeling was common place and was just a technology, but now that it's rare and unknown it just seems like magic to everyone? o.O

I guess that could make sense.

Actually channeling IS magic, RJ just uses physics to explain it's use and how it works. Channeling seems tied to the Soul and if it was a Technology, anyone could learn it. As it is only about 1% of the populace does, and that's from RJ himself.
