Well, when you ditched us we actually didn't get them into their hotel after all--it wouldn't be for another hour and a half, at that point. So EUOL and Ookla ended up coming with us after all to Chilli Duck, the best Thai restaurant in Boston.
The dance wasn't much to talk about. After wandering through the jugglers, belly dancers, and election craziness (I think they were doing a political convention for SF/F writers?), we went into the Mended Drum and saw some more very nice costumes, like an old couple in Victorian dress. Then there was a strange woman singing badly in the tavern. We finally found the dance, which was only in one of the bigger rooms--I thought it would be in the ballroom--and there were only about 20 people in there, and we'd missed the Renaissance dancing. They were onto fox trot, swing, etc.--and for that, you need a dance partner.
So we wandered about a little more, and Brenna figured out that it was her phone vibrating, not the rail we were leaning against, so she was able to get in touch with her friend that lives in Plymouth. And then I went home.
Long day, but good. I wish I had gone to the horses one. I ended up going to Sally's teaching horror panel, which was also quite good--even though I'm not interested in teaching horror, they brought up a lot of issues that can apply to fantasy in general, too.
