Title: systemjammers
Post by: JP Dogberry on September 18, 2003, 02:18:08 AM
I've recently finished a year 12 course of four unit english. Basically, the entire course revolves around the creation of a single text. In my case, it was a short story called "systemjammers". Is anyone interested in reading it? I can send it via e-mail dor anyone who wants it, along with the reflection statement, and precursor to it I wrote "system log".

I could throw it up on my Tripod server if I want, I'm just lazy.

systemjammers is a short story set in a near future cyberpunk setting. It deals with a group of geeks in a terrorist faction called "Cybernetic Redemption." The goal of this group is to bring thought to the common person, to stop them being sheep controlled by corporations and advertisements. It is an anti-capitalist exploration, and questions how far one should go for a cause one belives in.  So basically it's cyberpunk.

I've been told by most of my friends that it's very good. It took a year to create, and I'm happy with it. It's about 8000 words long.

When I get home, I'll upload it, and post the downlaod site.

Ok, I uploaded them.

For the major work, and reflection statement: http://swift48.tripod.com/jammers.doc

For systemlog, the precursor to it I wrote a year before: http://swift48.tripod.com/log.doc

They're both in word format because of the formatting. Check them out, or don't.

You will get feedback later. Like, after I've eaten my free pizza.

I want a free pizza, ya know. Cause I'm hungry. Speaking of food, I don't watch the food channel now that I'm not anywhere near home. Since I've cut back on my eating habits. I guess less eating does not equal less mass.

I get free pizza every friday and I always eat too much.
I especially like when we get cookies too.
But the pizza's nice, and if I'm careful, there will be some saved for my lunch on Saturday if I have to work as well.

Try right click-Save as Entropy.  Tripod is gay like that sometimes.

Tripod is gay for so many reasons at so many times, it's hard to keep track of it.

Ack. Tripod like to be temperamental a lot. It's slightly better than geocities though, so I use it.  Try the right click and "Save as". If that doesn't work, tell me and I'll mail it.

SE, where did you get free pizza? More importantly, how do I get free pizza?

granted, it is better than geocities.

I get free pizza because my boss pays for it. It's yummy. You could get free pizza by coming to work for the Teaching Company. Besides the fact that my coworkers and I are sitting around whining about how stupid customers are, it's a great place to work.

Yeah, but FREE PIZZA!!!!

I just realised how hypocritical is was of me to ask how to get free pizza on a thread about a story I wrote that is anti-corporations.

I thought anti-corporate culture was "stick it to the man." In which case free pizza is exteremly NOT hypocritical. besides. FREE PIZZA!!!

But if your boss is paying for the pizza, the man still gets his cash. It's only hypocritical if you scam the pizza like "Hey I got a pizza from here, but it was bad, so the manager said I could, umm, like, have a free pizza or something." That can actually work by the way. but hey, free pizza is free pizza!

My original goal was a heart attack by age 30. But now that I turn 30 in less than 3 months, I'm thinking of revising that goal.

Buffalo wings? Do not use that term unless you are in Buffalo dude. I hate how everyone says they have great "Buffalo Wings" in this state, or over in that city. The only place to get good Buffalo Wings is in Buffalo. Why do you think they call them that?

These views expressed by a concerned member of the Buffalo city and its surrounding suburbs. If you do not agree with these views, then please, make short work of your suicide.

look, if they can even SELL clam chowder anywhere besides boston, than I can call them buffalo wings. you seem to be under a lot of stress. Perhaps you should look into medication.

I think Gemms problem is too much "medication".

I generally use advil or tylenol. My advil right now is migrane advil. Since I had the migrane problem. Wanna hear another problem I had as a child, maybe still not? As a child I saw a doctor and they did some sort of heart tests, and found that my heart skipped a beat every-so-often. Isn't that crazy wild!

Hey.... when the doctors scanned you, did they notice the fact that your brain apparently doesn't register activity at all? It is like the interior of a black hole; pure nothingness that drags all matter within itself to consume them. Such is how your conversations affect the forum people :P

Oh, I wouldn't say that.  For all his lunacy, Gemm does have a habit of making my brain work.  You have to give the guy credit--he does spark some interesting posts.

Though, perhaps I shouldn't encourage him...

EUOL, could you point me to my fine made points that you find so finely crafted by my tenaciously transfixed tottering mind? I don't know where such things can be found.

he didn't say you had "fine made points." he said "interesting." And to pick a nit, he didn't say you MADE them. sort of like dementia is interesting and can cause a thinking man to ponder an issue...

Yes, well done, Entropy.

And Gemm, I was just trying to point out that I like having you around.  That's partially just because you make the rest of us look sane, but take it for what it's worth, eh?

I have some belly button lint here. It's worth three hundred dollars. Will you take that for what it's worth?
*looks hopeful*

Oh, and I think we all like you around for what your worth (ten dollars on the open market).
